Gulltown is a large town located directly south of Lucerne Hold, and lying on the northern bank of the Greenhave River and within the province of the same name. Gulltown is the center of House Shephard`s control, and it is from Gulltown that they are able to pull the majority of their forces from and it is at Gulltown where the members of House Shephard send their young men and women before eventually going to the Lucernian Academy. Gulltown is built around three large hills with the tallest hill being the site of the Grand Temple of Kyne, and the second tallest being the sight of Castle Shephard, and these hills have given them a great vantage point to see down the Greenhave River.

Gulltown is a major point of travel in the Crownlands as it marks the river junction that links together the Upper Greenhave River, and the Kilgor River allowing travel into the north.

Gulltown is homogeneous in its Vandal population with the city having been founded during the Vandal migration into the valley of Lucerne and since this time the reign of House Shephard has continued to make a point of maintaining this Vandal domination of the city.

Gulltown would be converted to Dragonoph during the time of Ysgramor and during this early time the Great Temple of Kyne was constructed and stood as both the seat of House Shephard acting as both keep and religious center, and continues to stand as the dominant point of the city. Gulltown like many cities in the Grand State of the Crownlands has a religious tax levied against non Dragonoph followers and this has left the entire population homogeneous in its worship of Glaurung with only those living in the merchant quarter allowed to openly practice non Dragonoph religions.

The town of Gulltown was originally founded by the Empire of Numeron and named Minas Ghullia during their colonization of the Valley of Lucerne and Gulltown was the center of the norther part of their colonization and became a wealthy hub town for the Numenorians in the Valley of Lucerne. The Numenorian town of Minas Ghullia would be killed to a man during the Night of Spiders but the town itself was left relatively in tact with the Spiders leaving the ghost town as a reminder to those that came after what happened if they attempted to colonize the Valley of Lucerne. During the Vandal migration into the Valley of Lucerne it was members of what would become House Shephard that discovered the Numenorian ruins and ignoring the rumors of the ruins they would bring their people into the town leading to the ruins becoming the center of the Kingdom of Gull. The Kingdom of Gull would become incorperated into the larger Kingdom of Forks, and then shortly following this was furthern incorperated into the Kingdom of Lucerne during the rise of William Lovie I. after the Dovah riding William flew into the tallest of the hill of Gulltown.

Shephard Castle

Shephard Castle was one of the first places built when the Numenorians founded Minas Ghullia and founding the castle it would remain relatively intact when the Numenorians were killed by the Spiders during the Night of Spiders allowing the Vandals that would eventually come to simply repair and maintain the already completed castle renaming it Castle Shephard.

Bath Houses

Within the walls of Shephard Castle were located the noble classes bath houses in the form of a part underground, partly above ground four levels worth of bathing houses. The bathing houses below ground were heated through the pumping of large furnaces on the bottom level of the bathing levels which heated the water allowing for use throughout the entire year even during the very cold winters of Gulltown.
