Jesse Swift is the daughter of parents she has never known, although she does know they must have been from Brill as that was where she was left. She is now the wife of William Swift, and therefore a member of House Swift living in Brill .
Once a prostitute she was brought off the streets by Taylor Swift of House Swift. Everyday Jesse got up with the belief that she would be put back onto the street by House Swift, but each morning she found them ready and willing to be her shoulder. After three years with the family they formally adopted her into the House when she became romantically involved with William. All of this was due to the fact that Taylor had the kindness to show her compassion when all others ignored her plight, and for this reason the two are very close.

This relationship grew into love as the two found for the first time in their lives someone that they emotionally and physically connected with.

Following the near destruction of House Swift during the end of the Lucerne Civil War Jesse discovered that she was pregnent with her first child with William, although as a prostitute she had been forced to have many abortions throughout her time so this was the first oppurtunity she had to have a child and be able to actually give birth.
