The Kingdom of Karak Izor is one of the two Dwarf Kingdoms alonside Karak Mulger that are situated in the Mountains of Lucerne, and following Karak Mulger's fall it became the sole survivor. Karak Izor capital in Karak Izor has been built in the center of a naturally forming cavern, and is nearly impenatrable to outside attackers as it is situated high up on the inner ledge it can only be approached from one causeway, although the extensive underground tunnels mean there are many other secret entryways. Alongside Karak Izor following the fall of Karak Mulger all Dwarves of the Mountains of Lucerne swear an oath to Karak Izor and are a part of the Kingdom. The Kingdom of Karak Izor holds the largest concentration of Sof-Dwarves that exist if you do not count the Empire of Matron as Sof-Dwarves despite their naming themselves this. The Kingdom of Karak Izor is the site of one of the largest mineral deposits of Mithril, and they have become major exporters of this material through the use of their northern Thaig Haiden Thaig of whom is built at the very edge of the northern sphere of the mountains and into the side of a lake making itself a port.

The Kingdom of Karak Izor holds the largest concentration of Sof-Dwarves that exist if you do not count the Empire of Matron as Sof-Dwarves despite their naming themselves this. The capital itself contains a vast population of tens of thousands of Dwarves, while the second largest Thaig is Haedin Thaig which has a few thousand Dwarves.

Alongside Mithril they trade heavily northward into Dresdan where they are one of the only steady supply of Dragonweave as there is the heavy population of White Dovah located in their mountains.

Karak Ankor and its sister Hold of Karak Mulger were some of the last Dwarven Holds founded in Europe, and their founding didn't occur until the final days of the Dwarven Exodus. The Mountains of Lucerne had always been a contested mountain, and in the centuries before the Dwarves came the mountains were fought over between spiders and trogs. The spiders eventually won, and it was this victory that allowed the Dwarves to take them down when they arrived, as the spiders were severely weakened in the conflict. The Spiders and Dwarves would still fight a desperate fight against eachother but eventually the Spiders fell defeated and retreated in the depths of the mountains in the far east of the mountain. With their control over the mountains, they spent centuries clearing it out completely, and during this time Karak Izor, and Karak Mulger grew fabulously rich and expansive. The Hold of Karak Izor and by extension the Kingdom held onto its belief in Karak Ankor for centuries, and resisted several popular resolutions in its halls to leave Karak Ankor. In the end it along with Karak Mulger left the Empire when it became clear that it was no longer capable or willing to assist them so far away from the World Edge Mountains. The Hold of Karak Izor now controls the entire mountains of Lucerne following the destruction of Karak Mulger, but this hold is tenuous with the expansion of both the goblins, and Humans. Although the humans saved Karak Izor, under Bill Lovie this relationship was destroyed, and the Dwarves didn't communicate with Lucerne until King Andrew Lovie sent messengers into the Deep Roads, and found the openings of massive tunnels and the pathway that led them to Aeducan Thaig. This sparked a reunion of sorts and has reastablished ties between the old allies of which really exploded following the construction of the Underfort by Lucerne, and the meeting there of Alice Lovie and Dori Snowblown.

History[]

Early History[]

Before the coming of the Dwarves the Mountains of Lucerne and the areas inside where the Holds would eventually be were the homes of nothing more then a large number of Troggs, as well as spider nests. The spiders went about a process of litterly removing all non-spider elements from the Mountains of Lucerne as well as the Valley of Lucerne and this led to a war between the Troggs and the Spiders of which ended after years with the destruction of the Troggs. Control of the mountains wasn't quite enough for the Spiders and they would continue to grow in number until eventually they would ambush an exploratory Numenorian army heading from Gondor. This event would lead to the halting of Numerons expansion into the region, and changed the course of Europe quite dramatically.

Founding of Karak Izor[]

The Valley of Lucerne as we came to call it was one of the largest lands you'll ever see with nothing living in it. The spiders and monsters of the mountains had left it in perfect condition but noone dared enter.

With their control over the mountains, they spent centuries clearing it out completely, and during this time Karak Izor, and Karak Mulger grew fabulously rich and expansive. It was around this time that the Dwarves of Karak Izor begin to alongside Karak Mulger plan for the moment when they would be more independant from Karak Ankor. Crowning themselves the Dwarven Kings of Lucerne they would rule over the mountains for years upon years until the rise of the High Elves in France first brought trouble to the lands.

The Coming of the Elves[]

Victory against the spiders had given us time. Time is a valuable resource.
Dori Snowblown

The wealth of the Hold of Karak Izor, and its sister city Karak Mulger only accelerated when the region became home to a growing number of High Elves. The High Elves were in the process of expanding into France, and were open to trade with the Dwarves. The Dwarves of Lucerne opened their trade convoys and traded huge amounts of goods with the Elves, perhaps only exclipsed in their trade with the Elves by the massive Dwarven Hold of Karak Matron.

War of Vengeance[]

Main Article : War of Vengeance

War of Vengeance
It was wise for us to stay out of that pointless war.
Dori Snowblown

The Good will between the two sides would explode into war after a series of tricks, and failed negoitiations led Karak Ankor to declare war on Ulthuan. This war raged across Europe with the holds of Karak Izor, and Karak Mulger being rather unaffected in fact there was an increase in trade due to so many Dwarves using the Lucerne Mountains as a jumping area for the invasion of France. Karak Izor was only attacked once, and this was by Spiders of whom were seeing the fighting around and had hoped that the Dwarves had been weakened but found they had actually become more powerful due to the fighting.

Fall of Karak Ankor[]

Main Article : Karak Ankor

With the destruction of much of Karak Ankor , the Dwarves of surviving holds had to make a decision. Were they going to stay with Karak Ankor, or become more indepedant. The Dwarves of Karak Izor, and their sister hold in Karak Mulgar chose the path of the Sof-Dwarves. The Sof-Dwarves were being planned as a lightly organized grouping of semi-independant Dwarven Holds, that while still anwsering to Karak Ankor, would not be completely attatched to its survival.

Numenorian Expedition[]

The Numenorians were at that point you must remember still honorable. They sent us letters asking for our permition, and we gave it. They planned to settle the valley with thousands of people. It was only with great shock we travelled south and found their homes burned, and their people destroyed in the valley. They never came again after that.
Dori Snowblown

The Empire of Numeron was by this point rising in Europe, and wanted to expand westward into the Valley of Lucerne where their command had planned a massive population center and a jumpstart to capturing southern France, and later Hispania. The Empire of Numeron would speak with the Dwarves of  Karak Izor and gained their permision to settle the lands, but unknown to them their expedition was hounded by the menipulations of Sauron. Sauron would contact the Spiders of the mountains, and bribed them with the trinkets they valued so much to destroy the Numenorian army. The Numenorians would come to the valley and find it open for the taking, and would found several cities, most noteably the city of Zeor-Ahrami of which would be the site of Forks eventually. Years passed and their population grew until finally the Spiders descended on them with a massive force and destroyed Zeor-Ahrami. Two following armies from Numeron were sent, and each was destroyed in turn as they found the valley shiethed in darkness Magi created by Sauron. Following this the Numenorians ordered the retreat of any that still remained in Lucerne but found none anwsered the call, and following this they built the tower of Seortin (Modern day Castamere) of which they used to gaurd the western border of their land.

Coming of the Goblins[]

Main Article : First Lucernian-Goblin War

The Goblins Arrive
We just stopped watching the Mountains. We became obsessed with the Gold, and the Silver, and all the wealth we gained by being in control of the Mountains. We forgot who we were, and we paid the ultimate price for that mistake.
Night Goblins
We got all tied up in how much minerals we were pulling up, and we forgot about what this place was about. We didn't come to the far west of the world to get rich. We came to Lucerne to be safer then the World Edge Mountains would ever allow our people to be.
Unknown Dwarf

Following the War of Vengeance the wealth of Karak Mulger, and its sister Hold of Karak Izor only increased due to the increased presence of the humans of the region and the amount of trade that this brought into their coffers. This wealth and power had the reverse effect on one area of the Dwarves and that was in their preparation in regards to their military might. The Dwarves slowly lost their vigilance over the mountains and in this time the Night Goblins swept in under the command of the Goblin King Jarsnik and were able to achieve massive numbers through his leadership. Following the Migration of the Night Goblins, the Dwarves of Lucerne without even really knowing what had happened found the mountains were now teeming with night goblins. The Dwarves only mobilized to the threat after the Nigh Goblins overran the mine of Dun Mulger. The Night Goblins first arrived on the scene of Lucerne when the Skaven begin instigating massive migrations of Goblins from their ancestoral homes in eastern Croatia, and the mountains of Central Europe, but it wasn't until the Goblin Chief Jarsnik mobilized his forces to move against Lucerne were the Goblins of any kind of real threat. Before this the Night Goblins had a fear of the Dwarves and what they beleived them capable of, but this fear went away as the Skaven fed them stories of the weakness of the Dwarves and before long the Nigh Goblins of the nearby Westros Mountains moved westward towards the Lucerne Mountains. The Dwarves had become arrogant in their position in the mountains and so barely had defenses in place for subterranean invaders, and it was this that the Goblin chief Jarsnik would discover quite quickly. In this way the Night Goblins were able to sneak massive numbers into the mountains before the Dwarves were even aware of what was happening. The Nigh Goblins congregated around the fortress of Karak Mulger, and the first sign of trouble was when they took over the nearby mine of Dun Mulger.

Death of Fundin[]

Death of Fundin
They say that Dwalin walked alone in the vast emptiness that was the eastern mines of Lucerne to find the body of his father Fundin. When he arrived the rumors say he found his father lying against a rock with an arrow in his chest. Seeing this sort of death it should have mobilized an entire land against them, but instead we talked.
Balin

The peaceful existence in the Dwarven realms of Karak Izor, and Karak Matron would end the moment Fundin the clan leader of Clan Durin was killed by a goblin archer. Because the Goblins had come in such massive numbers and using the advise of the Skaven had waited until their numbers were massive before even making their presence known the Dwarves had no idea that they were even in the area. The eastern parts of the Lucernian Mountains had become known for being dangerous for Dwarven travelers but the minerals of the area still attracted the more daring of the Dwarven leadership, and miners. Fundin was one of these more adventurous Dwarves and he wanted the Gromil that was present in the east, and to get it he took a large force from his Thaig of Moria and moved against the eastern mines of which the Dwarves were ignoring had not been heard of for some time. While travelling in the eastern mines Fundin was ambushed alongside much of his company by a massive force of Goblins and the few that survived spoke of the Goblins being in their thousands. Before the death of Fundin it was believed by most of the Dwarves that their holds were impenetrable, and thus their was a great deal of arrogance within their ranks. When the leadership of Karak Izor contemplated the death of Fundin they prepared to move against the encroachment of the Goblins but they didn't understand that the Goblins had already become more then they could handle.

You woulnd't have believed your eyes if you would have seen Karak Mulger before it was ruined. The walls themselves ran gold with the wealth of the Hold, and it is a tragedy my people shall never forget that the Goblins now infest its tunnels.
Medrig Hallbreaker

This did become clear to them though when the Goblins overran the small mines around Karak Mulger and attacked the Hold in a massive wave which destroyed the surrounding area around the Hold and killed a significant amount of Dwarves as they were unprepared for the scope of the attack. The First Battle of Karak Mulger only ended after a large reserve force arrived from the nearby Thaigs of Karak Mulger and together with the forces of the Hold itself they were able to push the Goblins back. Karak Mulger would send word to Karak Izor about the attack, but as they were preparing for the response they were attacked once again in the Second Battle of Karak Mulger. The second attack was much less dangerous and the forces of the Goblins seemed more interested in killing Dwarves then actually doing anything of consequence, and this realization caused the Dwarves to retreat behind their fortifications and also for the first time in their history they recalled all Dwarves back to the hold itself and called a complete halt to all mining outside of the inner Hold.

Trouble in the Mountains[]

Goblins Come
It was time to either ask for help, or die. We had to go down one of those roads as the clock was nearing the end for us.
Hedrig Hallbreaker

Following the First and Second Battle of Karak Mulger, the two dwarf holds came to the realization that they were in serious trouble. Messengers were sent out to the High Dwarves, in the World Edge Mountains for help, and a quick response was received when these messengers returned back with the news that the High Dwarves were also being invaded by Orcs and Goblins, and would not be able to assist. Without any help coming from their High Dwarf cousins, the Dwarves were being gradually pushed back inch by inch and without help very soon they would be destroyed by the vastly superior numbers of the Goblins. The Goblins had stopped attacking the Hold of Karak Mulger and were concentrating on destroying the Thaigs nearby, and the smaller mines as they destroyed the lands of the Dwarves, but at the same time they sent small probing skirmishes at Karak Mulger itself, and with each attack the defences were tested more and more.

Third Battle of Karak Mulgar[]

Main Article : Third Battle of Karak Mulgar

The third battle of Karak Mulger broke our back. We were just never able to mass enough troops after that disaster.
Medrig Hallbreaker

The Goblins would mass once more for a large attack in the form of the Third Battle of Karak Mulgar where in the Dwarves were once again victorious but the forces from Karak Izor lost notable forces including the High King of Karak Izor, while many were captured including prince Troin Hallbreaker. Grod Hallbreaker would die during the initial assault on Karak Mulgar as the Goblins overran Thaig Mul one of the last defendable Thaigs around Karak Mulgar of which Grod Hallbreaker had been in a position of command in, and following the Fall of Thaig Mul the Izor forces moved to retrieve his body and were caught in a trap where in Fofek Hallbreaker the High King of Karak Izor would be shot through the eye with an arrow and killed. Troin Hallbreaker managed to retreat with some forces but commanded his brother Voin Hallbreaker to go back to Karak Izor with the majority of their forces and send word of what had happened. Troin never got back to Karak Mulger as he allowed himself to be captured by the Goblins in order to give his forces the ability to retreat inside Karak Mulgar.

Seeking Help[]

Realizing that Karak Mulger was on the verge of falling without things changing, the Dwarves sent messengers to the surrounding Human Kingdoms. They were sent rejections by everyone that they sent it to and so in their desperation they went to the nearbye Human city of Forks which wasn't led by one force and thus wasn't exactly the most promising force. When they arrived at Forks they set in motion a dramatic conflict betweent he ruling houses.

The Driving Tide[]

The Mountain War
We can let the Dwarves fight on there own. There is no question that option will save the most of our children and family. For now. But what happens when we abandon the Dwarves and the Goblins take the Mountains...We lose everything.
House Tyrell

House Tyrell was leading over the Realm of Forks at the time, and there had been a growing alliance among several other houses including House Swan, House Lovie and House Targaryan which would come to the front of issues during the negotiations in Forks.

Houses that had the slightest of differences turned on eachother as they all vied to be closest to House Tyrell.  That all ended the moment William returned on the back of that Dragon. Seeing that changed everything and whether or not the Tyrells wanted to accept it their time was done.
Aryes Targaryan

The Driving Tide burst onto the scene when William Lovie returned to Forks on the back of a dragon, and and to say it caused a stir would be a vast underestamet. He was greeted quickly by the members of his Companions along with the rest of their houses but overall the attitude was very anxious as the people didn't know what William planned to do with this unimaginable power. Following this a group of Dwarves entered Forks begging for assistance against the goblins. As the Dwarves left the council of Forks met, and their was fierce debate about what should be done with William Lovie leading the charge alongside House Tyrell, House Targaryan, and House Swan in assisting the Dwarves in exchange for the Dwarves assisting them. There support was countered by the opposition of House Cash, House Arryn, and House Clegane who believed it wasn't their problem so it should be ignored. With the Forks council at a complete stalemate, the auxiliary House Hale who was one of the richest houses in Forks became interested in gaining more influence and with William Lovie now having a dragon they decided that his wagon was the one they wanted to hitch themselves to. To show their support of William Lovie and his House Lovie they went to William and offered to supply him with all the armor, and weapons that his house as well as House Swan, and Targaryan. With this advantage to them it became clear that the Lovie alliance was going to choose the way Forks would go in the Driving Tide.

Never had someone so small changed so much. It was the slightest of choices that decided an entire land.
Unknown Scribe

With House Lovie, House Targaryan, and House Swan now militarily very strong it would be William that would come to the home of Mace Tyrell of whom was still for all intensive purposes still William's king, and would basically apologize to him for having to make him so much smaller then he had been. The two would eventually come to an understanding and in this understanding Mace Tyrell would join him on the battlefield where before he had planned to sit aside while House Lovie's alliance he now decided to move the entire strength of House Tyrell with him. In this way House Hale The decision of House Hale to assist the effort of William Lovie, and House Lovie meant that House Tyrell had no choice but to ignore the wishes of the House Arryn alliance and force their involvement in the Driving Tide. With no one left to resist the forces of Forks and the nearby regions begin massing north of the city for the campaign that would from this point on be called the Driving Tide.

The First Battle of the Gate[]

House Lovie

House Lovie

To the very last minute it was the Arryn's trying to stop us. I don't know how bitter their hatred ran that they could completely ignore the obvious situation.
William Lovie I.

The First Battle of the Gate was the battle fought as the Goblins attempted to defeat the Humans before they could gain enough strength to effectively assist the Dwarves. As the forces of Forks moved forward William Lovie on Stragnarax rode far ahead and scouted out the mountains. When William arrived at the mountains they could see the massive number of Goblins that were hiding amongst the stones of the mountain, and thus it was clear they were going to attempt to ambush the Forks army. He was told by Stranganarx that the Goblins of the mountains had been building their strength for many years and what he saw there was nothing more then a small fraction of their total force. Realizing that even a victory on that field wouldn't completely mean victory in the war he knew he would need to eventually meet with the forces of the Dwarves so that their combined armies could completely defeat the Goblins. Stragnarax would take him back to Forks and during the trip he asked Stragnarax whether any dragons could come to their aid, and while Stragnarax wanted to help the Lucernians and his friend in William Lovie he still did not trust the humans enough to intervene on that scale. Upon his return to Forks he called all the Nobles that were there to a meeting where he would make everyone understand how dire the situation was, and the consequences if they did not deal with the Goblins now. When he returned to the army William took the lead in planning and devised a strategy where they would set up camp in front of the mountain making it appear that they were going to sleep but when the Goblins charged forward they would be ready for them and would massacre them in the open.

Herd Mountain Valley Wallpaper mp1zf
I had second thoughts on my decision the moment I saw him standing at the table and everyone just listened to him. I wasn't ready for that kind of loss just yet.
Mace Tyrell I.

House Tyrell for the first time saw their power truly slipping away and attempted to argue against the plan but at this point even House Tyrell's allies were not supporting them and this led to William's plan being followed. In a huge coup the members of House Lovie gained the upper hand in the city of Forks in a way that had never occured before. Mace Tyrell would try and storm out of the meeting but he was stopped by his bannermen of whom warned him that the momentum had shifted and that he might be killed if they didn't side with the alliance of House Lovie. So everyone including House Arryn would join the massive army that was preparing to march to the valley beneath the mountains to ambush the goblin army.

The Prelude[]
Goblins

The Night Goblins had sent scouts to follow all of the dwarf messengers, and were aware that the Forks army was on its way to assist. The moment they became aware, the Night Goblin leader sent his luitenant Greshak to ambush them at the gate. This ambush would have been completely disasterous for the entire war had it not been for the stupidity of the goblin liutenant Greshak. The Goblin commander decided that since the Lucernians camped at the outside of the gateway in then he would be able to attack them while they slept. This would mean even fewer casualties and a complete destruction of Lucernes army. The reason that he had been told to ambush the humans was that the Lucernians were waiting for the Dwarves to arrive, and had been warned that they should not sit idle while sitting out front the gate. For this reason the Lucernians had barricaded their camp completely, and were 100% ready for any attack.

To further complicate matters for the goblins the Humans now had the service of Stragnarax, and he was flying in the sky. While flying he noticed the goblins hiding in the hills of the entrance. With this knowledge he telepathically contacted William Lovie, and further warned him. With this warning the forces of Lucerne prepared for nightfall and the eventual attack that was coming.

The First Battle of the Gate[]
First Battle of the Gate

When darkness descended on the hills the Goblin army charged out of their hiding spots, and encircled the Human camp. The human defenders had been prepared for this so when the first goblin got near, the human archers begin unloading arrows on them. In their current position the goblins were completely exposed, and took huge casualties before they even reached the human camp. When they did reach the camp they found the entrances to the camp heavily barricaded, and the few entrances were extremely well gaurded. The Goblins found themselves completely under fire and unable to break through into the camp.

It was at this low point in the battle that a massacre was about to take place. Stragnarax and William Lovie rode to the center of the Goblin army, and engaged the goblin commander. The two fought very briefly before William killed him, and Stragnarax rained fire on the goblins. The center of the goblins was gone, and now they broke completely. When the goblins broke and ran, the humans chased behind, and fewer then 5% of the massive goblin army survived to make it back to the gate.

Goblin Counter Attack[]

While the loss of the army at the Gate wasn't good for the Goblins they had nearly unlimated forces at this point and thus they wanted to keep up the pressure so they hastily re-launched their attack on Karak Mulger which was still attempting to repair the damage to their defences. The Battle was a tough fight but again the Goblins were pushed back by the determined Dwarves who were at this point beggining to recieve reinforcements from Karak Izor as the situation out front the gate had somewhat stabalized the hole warzone.

Second Battle of Karak Izor[]
Karak Izor Thaig3
In our centuries long silence we had abandoned many mines as more prosperous ones were found. It was in this abandonement that our enemies flowed through behind our lines.
Dwarven Scribe

After the disasterous First battle of the Gate, and the following defeat they suffered during the Karak Mulger, the Night Goblins became even more aggressive in their attacks. The Goblins moved many of their forces to the far back of the conflict where they launched a series of raids against the unprepared Karak Izor who didn't think they could be hit. In this lack of preperation the Goblins had found a series of mines that were abandoned and through them they were able to sneak there way inside the Hold itself where once inside a series of desperate battles were fought which together are called the First Battle of Karak Izor. The Dwarves were able to keep the goblins out of the main hold itself but as they defeated the advances they found the goblins had hunkered down into the shadows and were now launching constant geurilla raids against Karak Izor. While these attacks were of little actual consequence they forced a large amount of their forces to move into the tunnels attempting to rid them of goblins instead of moving towards Karak Izor.

Fall of Karak Mulger[]
Night Goblins

As the Night Goblins attacked the Dwarf Hold of Karak Izor their main thrust came out when their huge forces attacked the recovering fortress of Karak Mulger. The Dwarves had still been working on the repairs to the Hold, and because of the swiftness of the attack the Goblins were able to mass themselves at all entrances to the Hold, and had it completely surrounded. As the Dwarves prepared to accept the charge of the endless Goblins they were all shocked as the Goblins burst through tunnels in the deepest core of Karak Mulger. With these breaches the Dwarves were forced to pull forces from their strong points, and this was exactly what the Goblins had wanted them to do. The moment the Dwarves moved from the fortress the Goblins begin overruning the defences at every entrance. The moment of the fall of the Hold was at hand, and everyone involved knew what was happening as the entrances, and the Dwarves were pushed back completely. The Dwarves that had went to react to the burrowing Goblins now discovered their fellow Dwarves retreating into the core of the Hold, and with this the thousands of Dwarves left prepared for their last stand. The Nigh Goblins massed their thousands and then charged the beligured Dwarves before the forces of Karak Izor could once again intervene and possibly save what little remained of the hold. The Dwarves held the gateways into the core for more then two hours before the last Gate Gaurd was pulled apart, and with this the Goblins were inside the walls, and they proceeded to massacre the remaining Dwarves inside the Hold.

The Final Battles[]

Final Battle of the Gate

With Karak Mulger overrun the goblins believed themselves to have the upper hand. In this high for the Night Goblins their scouts reported that the human army had regrouped and was now on its way to the gate with the obvious intentions of retaking Karak Mulgar. The Night Goblin leader knew he didn't have the hold neccessary to be able to maintain control of Karak Mulgar, and if the humans did enter the mountains and team up with the Dwarves, the Night Goblins could possbily lose the war. With this in mind the Goblin commander pulled his forces from the siege of Karak Izor, and left a large force their to hold the Dwarves in place. He then took the entire Night Goblin army and headed to the gates of Lucerne. When William Lovie, and the Lucernian army arrived at the gate they saw the massive Goblin Army arrayed in front of them. In this moment the two armies just stared eachother down. Each side wanting to be the ones with initative this caused the two armies to charge eachother.

Third Battle of Karak Izor[]

While the Goblin army was leaving to attack the humans at the gate, the Dwarven King of Karak Izor, and Karak Mulger gathered their entire army and launched a shock attack at the goblin army that had remained to hold them in place. So much hate was on the side of the Dwarves, and so sudden was the attack, the goblin army barely even got out of their beds before the Dwarves had completely wiped them out. With this victory the Dwarves moved themselves behind the army of the Nigh Goblins.

Second Battle at the Gates[]

The Goblins had been prepared to meet the forces of the Humans, and at the final days before the Battle they knew there would also be Dwarves from the more western Holds but what they did not understand was that in the days before the Second Battle of the Gates Stragnarax would travel into the Mountains and gather his entire White Dovah and command they following him into the Battle which would bring thousands of Draknoids, and hundreds of full Drakes into the Mountains just north of Lucerne awaiting the arrival of the Goblins.

William Lovie III.[]

With the seperation of their relationship with the Humans of Lucerne, and the reasurgance of the goblins, the Dwarves of Karak Izor once again fear for their survival. Calls for aid to Lucerne were heard by Bill, but instead of honoring the old tradition of their alliance, he laughed at the delegate and told him to never return.

The Underfort[]

Goverment[]

The Hold of Karak Izor is ruled by a Senate that makes decisons as to the direction the Hold, and its outlying Thaigs will go. This internal decisions are the job of the Senate but when it comes to the military of Karak Izor, the High Thane of Karak Izor makes the final decisons. Following the destruction of Karak Mulger Medrig Hallbreaker as the High Thane of Karak Izor has become more powerful somewhat then the Senate as with many Thaigs destroyed or to ruined to be on the senate their numbers have diminished dramatically.

High Thane of Karak Izor[]

The High Thane is basically the General of the Karak Izor military and in this role he controls the smithers, soilders, and overall military machine of Karak Izor. Following the destruction of Karak Mulger and the fact that Karak Izor remained alone in the mountains the High Thane of Karak Izor would become increasingly king like with the abilities that he held. The Senate beneath him was his council, but in terms of overall power Medrig Hallbreaker would be the true source of power in the Kingdom of Karak Izor.

Karak Izor2

The Dwarves of Karak Izor are known for their white colored clothing, and this applies to all things in Karak Izor. The armor, and cloaks worn by the Dwarves of Karak Izor, are usually made to be a white color, and in this way the Hold of Karak Izor has an almsot angelic look to it.

The Dwarves of Karak Izor are also known for their heavy use of the Gregan animal for their main husbandry needs. The Gregan is a more rarely used animal in all other Holds of the Dwarves, and the reason the Gregan is used is because the main husbandry animal of the Dwarves the Calk was made extinct in the Mountains of Lucerne by a particulary bad series of virusus that swept through its population. This different food source has made the Dwarves of Karak Izor have an almost pale tint to them, as they are not as adequetly supplied as the other Dwarven Holds.

Language[]

See Also : Khazalid

"Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!"
-Ancient dwarven battle cry meaning "The axes of the dwarves! The dwarves are upon you!"

Khazalid is the Language of the Dwarves, or Dawi. The deeply conservative language has not changed noticeably in many thousands of years in either its spoken or written runic form. The Dwarven language sounded strange and harsh to other races, and no other non-dwarf did they permit to learn their language (save Eöl The Dark Elf only, who befriended the Dwarves and dwelt in Nan Elmoth), for it was guarded jelously.

The Dwarves are extremely proud of their native tongue, and they rarely speak in the company of other races, almost never teaching it to other creatures. To humans it is known as the ‘secret tongue of the Dwarfs’, sometimes overheard but never understood. The Dwarf language includes very few words of obvious Elves  or Human origin. By contrast there are many loan words from Khazalid in the tongues of Men, which suggests that Dwarfs must have taught some fundamental words to their taller allies. This is most obviously the case of words pertaining to traditional Dwarven craftskills of smithing and masonry, skills which Dwarfs taught Men many centuries ago.

Demographics[]

The Kingdom of Karak Izor holds the largest concentration of Sof-Dwarves that exist if you do not count the Empire of Matron as Sof-Dwarves despite their naming themselves this. The capital itself contains a vast population of tens of thousands of Dwarves, while the second largest Thaig is Haedin Thaig which has a few thousand Dwarves.

Frostborne[]

See Also : Frostborne

Amongst the Dwarven Race there is a sub-sect of the race called the Frostborne of whom are characterized by their near blue skin. From a distance, the frostborn look like any other normal dwarf, but upon closer examination you are able to see that their skin is a noticeable light blue color, almost like ice. Upon even closer examination, the frostborn have similar marks on them as those of the earthen. This may mean that the frostborn are earthen who had adapted to the harsh cold of Northrend.

They are led by Yorg Stormheart, "King of the Frostborn", who rules over them from mighty Frosthold in the Storm Peaks of northern Lucernian Mountains. The Frostborne are basically only existing within the mountains of Storm Peaks but they have a small number that also live within the Lucernian Mountains within the Hold of Karak Izor.
