The Kingdom of Kalimdor is a massive Kingdom controlled by the Furbolgs, and located in eastern Asia on the Kalimdor peninsula.

The Furbolg are divided into tribes, with each tribe having two equally important leaders: the Voice and the Claw. The Voice is the spiritual leader of a tribe, passing on messages of Ursonoc and gives guidance to the Claw. They are capable of sensing the balance of the Sanctuary and the world around it. The Claw is the physical leader of the tribe, protecting the Sanctuary and the Voice, and puts the Voice's words to action. Outside a small group of shamans, who tend to the Voice's needs to keep him alive, only the Claw may speak to the Voice. The Claw also leads the hunters and warriors of the Sanctuary. Neither of the two leaders has the power to overturn the others' decisions. The Claw and Voice are often chosen at the same time, and end their rule together. If one dies, it is tradition for the other to retire. Between these two Furbolg, the Sanctuary of the tribe is very organized. Each Sancutary then sends its Voice, and Claw to the overall Council where all the Voices, and Claws will determine who is the Kodan at the time. The Kodan is therby the most powerful leader of the Furbolg but he is counter balanced by the Claws, and Voices.

The Kingdom of Kalimdor has engaged in a centuries long isolationist policy and this is led by the kingdoms Voice Kodian, and the Kingdoms Claw Ursol of whom are aware of the excistence of the Kalimdor Warp Portals and have following the death of their father vowed to keep the Warp Portals safe from anyone getting to them.

The Kingdom was founded shortly following the fall of the Murloc Confederacy so for that reason it is by far one of the longest suriving kingdoms that exists in the world. At one point Kalimdor stretched from Ind all the way north to the tip of the northern Ocean, but the coming of the humans led to Kalimdor losing more and more land until they became close with Cathay and the two agreed on their borders. Following this the two kingdoms have fought side by side for centuries against many foes but their most constant foe has been the Charr who are corupted by Chaos and thus are extremely bloodthirsty with no ability to call for peace or end the conflict.

History

Murlocs Fall

The Kingdom was founded shortly following the fall of the Murloc Confederacy so for that reason it is by far one of the longest suriving kingdoms that exists in the world.

Growth

At one point Kalimdor stretched from Ind all the way north to the tip of the northern Ocean, and as this growth had taken centuries they watched as the incoming horde of humans brought with them violence on a level they had not seen since the dark days of the Eternity War.

Krizz Stillpine the Spiritual Leader of the Furbolg

The Furbolg
are a hulking, ancient race of bear-men who live in northern Asia and in several areas of Ind. Though they have no special love for war or murder, their tribes have become increasingly hostile as they have been faced with centuries of continuous warfare by the increasingly violent Charr. The Furbolg are distinctly Shamantic in their beliefs and this is an interesting counter balance to their only allies in Cathay of whom continue to worship confusionism based on the Man God Yan Fang.

The Kodan is therby the most powerful leader of the Furbolg but he is counter balanced by the Claws, and Voices.

The Furbolg are the children of the Titan Ursonoc, and were created in his image. Ursonoc would lead them from his ancient throne within Timbermaw for centuries but was killed after being ambushed by his child Vogun of whom would lead a large force of Furbolg into the Fade during the Titan Civil War, and he would then fall within the Fade leaving the Furbold uncorupted in Kalimdor but a large amount of corupted within the Fade.

Furbolgs originated from the western forests of Africanas but were transplanted by the Murlocs on mass to Asia where they flourished while the remaining Furbolgs in Africanas became the Gnolls, and were transplanted to Nord America by the Elves. The Furbolg haVe for their long history been a Very peacefull race, but they do haVe a Very difficult relationship with the Charr which has been going on since the first War with Chaos.

The Claw

"Let it be me, mighty Koda, that gives his life for peace. Let it be me that dies for balance. Let it be me that rejoins with nature knowing that I have fought and sacrificed for that which I believe. For such is the journey of a warrior. Such is the path of the Claw."
— Cliffwalker, Claw of the Gentle Tide Sanctuary

The Claw is one of the two leaders of a Furbolg Sanctuary. Those that take on the role of the Claw are chosen for their charisma, strength at arms, and public leadership potential. It is the Claw's responsibility to maintain the order and security of the Sanctuary, with the help of a small group of Guardians. In turn, the Claw leads the hunters and the warriors of the Sanctuary.

The Claw is the only one that is allowed to seek guidance from the Voice outside of his shaman keepers. This is because there is a connection between the Claw and the Voice, which links both of them to the Sanctuary; because of this, the Claw must interpret and carry out the will of Koda given through the Voice and, in turn, act as the intermediary between the Voice and the Kodan. The Claw takes his duties seriously, believing that, if he fails, the result would taint the Voice and the Sanctuary as well; likewise, neither the Claw nor the Voice has the authority to overturn the other's decisions.

The Furbolg believe that the fates of the Claw and the Voice are linked, both symbolically and mystically, to each other and to the Sanctuary. As such, when one fails in his duties, it taints the other and both must be purified. Likewise, if the Voice were to die or go insane, the Claw would in turn resign from his duties. Because of this link, they are often chosen at the same time whenever possible. Those who do not understand the Furbolg culture would often consider the Claw to be the "ruler" of the Sanctuary, as he operates the physical presence of the Sanctuary and is the visible leader.

The Voice

"Let it be me, mighty Koda, that gives his life for knowledge. Let it be me that dies so that truth can survive. Let it be me that rejoins with nature, knowing that I have looked into your eyes and brought back wisdom for my people. For such is the journey of a shaman. Such is the path of the Voice."
— Bitter Tears of Plenty, Voice of the Gentle Tide Sanctuary, The Wisdom and Power of the Kodan

The Voice is the spiritual leader and prime record-keeper of a Furbolg Sanctuary and is seen as the soul of a Furbolg community. Together with the Sanctuary's Claw, the Voice provides leadership through seeking and interpreting the will of their god, Ursonoc, for the Furbolg. In interpreting the will of Ursonoc, the Voice is all-knowing and blessed and has freedom from any error so the Voice might sanction laws and proclaim judgments on a grand scale.

The Voice is a spiritualist, chosen for their connection to Ursonoc and their understanding of his will. Prior to taking on the role, they memorize the only record of all important happenings to the Furbolg of that Sanctuary from the current Voice. If possible, the new Voice is selected at the same time as the Claw to lead a Sanctuary. It is believed the fate of Voice and Claw are intertwined together and with that of the Sanctuary. If they are to retire they both retire at the same time; if either dies the other leaves their role.

In addition to maintaining the Sanctuary records, the Voice together with the Claw lead the kodan, often for several centuries. The Voice providing guidance for spiritual matters only, while the Claw attends to the physical. As part of their spiritual duties the Voice perform rituals and pathworking and keep their mind open to the Mists. The Voice is isolated and protected from the world, living in the heart of a Sanctuary in a ritual shrine to Ursonoc attended only by a small staff of shamans. The isolation is to teach enlightenment and allows meditation on Ursonoc’s true wishes. Only the Claw may approach the Voice and ask for guidance. It is very rare to see a Voice outside of their ritual chambers.

It is not uncommon for a Voice to become unhinged due to the nature of their role and it is thought it is only through the will of Ursonoc that a Voice remains grounded enough to fulfill their duty. Rarely a Voice goes completely insane - a sickness called the Rage of Ursonoc. This starts a period known as a 'Time of Trial,' a test for the Sanctuary until the death of the Voice signals the purification and judgment of Ursonoc.
