Martin Targaryan is the son of Tavillia, and Viserys Targaryan making her a member of House Targaryan. Martin has two siblings in the form of Junet, and Aegon Targaryan of which Junet was one of the primary founders of the castle of Dragonsport where she rules over, and Aegon Targaryan is a leading member of the Empire of Dragonstone's military.
Martin Targaryan was born the third son of his father Viserys Targaryan and during much of his youth he was closest to his older brother Aegon of whom he greatly looked up too. Martin Targaryan would be bethrothed to Sellenia Gotlin of House Gotlin, and they would marry on his sixteenth birthday. After being happy with her to a certain extent she would die during the pregnancy of their first child of whom also died. Following this he became rather withdrawn as his failure to produce children only increased his depression over also failing the Dragonborn test. During Westros it is heavily discussed between House Lovie and House Targaryan that Martin Targaryan would marry into House Lovie's family and they simply wanted to find the right vassal house for it to occur. Martin would go south and would be in Redkeep when the Trollocs, and Mordor attacked the castle, and he would suffer a horrible wound and nearly died of infection. His sickness continued for days until finally he started getting better, but his injury had weakened his left arm of which was where the wound was suffered and this caused him to have trouble raising his sword and thus his purpose was weakened.
