The Realm of Carlingion is a large Kingdom located in Central Europe and within Allemeni where it dominates the islands of Carlin. The Realm of Carlingion was one of the first to break away from the Kingdom of Allemeni and did so shortly before Alcase but did assist their Burgundian cousins and this relationship has only increased since this conflict.

The Realm of Carlingion is ruled by the Carlingion Temple of Glaurung of which is an all powerful Dragonoph order that both controls the entire military, and religious sectors of the Realm of Carlingion to the point that its High Priest while not ruling heridetarily is basically the King of the Realm.

The Realm of Carlingion controls three large client Kingdoms in the form of the High Dutchy of Thenia, the High Dutchy of Rooks Nest, and the Dutchy of Aerenia. These client Kingdoms are controlled nominally through the capital of Zurich from where the Temple of Dragonoph sends out priests of whom act as the custodians of these client Kingdoms of which like the Realm of Carlingion are also Theocracies.

The capital of the Realm of Carlingion is the massie city of Zurich which stands on the edge of the northern coast of the main Corlinthian Island. There are seeral other large cities in Carlingion including Basel, Zug, and Glaug of which all outside of Basel are located on the coast and are relient upon fishing, and farming to maintain themseles.

The Realm of Carlingion is dominated by two large ethnic groups in the form of the Burgundians, and the Atlantians of which the Burgundians are the largest of the two but the Atlantians control many of the islands. Unlike many other former pieces of the Empire of Numeron the relationship between the Atlantians and the new rulers of the lands did not historically hate eachother eachother and this has led to the two groups working peacefully together.

The Realm of Carlingion first begin following the beggining of the strife between the Burgundians, and the Franks of the large Kingdom of Allemeni and due to their location on the islands and large population they were able to rebel more easily then the Burgundians of Alcase. When the Kingdom of Alcase rose and fought against the Allemeni the Realm of Carlingion would come to their assistence and they destroyed large swathes of southern Lorraine in quick strikes from the water and this caused more hatred between the two groups.

Geography

The massive Lake of Caro and the islands of the lake were first formed during the Downfall of Numeron when the Numenorian Temple of Chrezhlorn would become one of the epicenters of the Shockwave and destroyed much of the land creating the islands that now dominate it.

Caro Dragonback Islands

Main Article : Caro Dragonback Islands

Caro Dragonback Islands
The Caro Dragonback Islands
are a chain of islands in northwestern Carlingion of which is the home of two major things in the form of the large Temple city of Anniviers, and three large Red Dovah nests of whom have grown quite strong due to being worshipped in many ways by the Carlingion's.

The Caro Dragonback Islands contains a large population of Trolloc in the forests of the islands of which are basically kept alive to serve as a means of attempting to become Knights of Ysgramor and rise to the near pinacle of a true Dragon Knight. The Trollocs here are quite populous, and because of this the Temple City of Anniviers has been forced to fortify itself to a level that near turns it into a fortress, but this is both a religious, and political neccesity due to its location on the main island.

The expansion of the Realm of Carlingion has led to three groups of non Burgundians, and Atlantians entering the sphere of the Realm of Carlingion. Firstly following the capture of the eastern Client Kingdoms into the sphere of the Realm of Carlingion they would take in a large portion of Metrovingions into the population of the realm, and secondly the capture of the coast line of southern Alcase would take in large numbers of Lombards, and seeking better lives immigration into this region by the Lombars has only increased this situation, and finally the capture of the Caro Dragonback Islands has led to the inclusion of Dovah of which are not technically loyal to the Realm but lie within its borders.

Atlantians of the Realm of Carlingion have also taken to this tradition as have Metrovingions, and Lombards upon entry into the Realm of Carlingion creating a unified system of Nobility surnames.

Client Kingdoms

Realm of Carlingion - Client States - Maps
The Realm of Carlingion controls three large client Kingdoms in the form of the High Dutchy of Thenia, the High Dutchy of Rooks Nest, and the Dutchy of Aerenia. These client Kingdoms are controlled nominally through the capital of Zurich from where the Temple of Dragonoph sends out priests of whom act as the custodians of these client Kingdoms of which like the Realm of Carlingion are also Theocracies.

The overall Theocracy of the Eastern Client Kingdoms is the Carlingion Eastern Dragonoph Temple of which is centered on the neutral island of Aetretria where it administers the three Dutchies while the actual day to day governence is handled by the Dukes of the three regions.

The main reason for the three Kingdoms to remain as Client Kingdoms instead of being fully incorperated into the Realm of Carlingion was the fact that these three Dutchies are dominated by the Metrovingians of whom are a branch of the Franks but under the Empire of Metrovingion there has been a constant rivalry between the Burgundians and the Metrovingians.
