Narration POV Characters, Unreliable

The Rise of Lucerne is the second book of the New World series, and the largest of the books so far. The Rise of Lucerne deals heavily with the growth of the Kingdom of Lucerne following the events of the Battle of Berne, and the effect this growth has on several of the characters in the Kingdom Of Lucerne.

The Rise of Lucerne is distinct in that it opens up the story to much of the outside world with significant chapters dealing with characters outside of the valley of Lucerne. The second largest chunk of the book from a POV point of view is a mixture of characters that have never entered the Valley of Lucerne or have any connection with the Kingdom Of Lucerne.

The Rise of Lucerne opens up into many different side stories of which Fires of Harrenhall, The Twilight, and Blood Lillies are the largest and the ones that open up the most areas of the plotline. The Twilight expands into the world of the Elves people with the POV Characters of many of the different Elven side groups featured throughout and explaining the motivations of these groups.

Many of the POV Characters are similar from the End of Darkness but on top of the members of that story come newcomers in the form of Karl Franz who takes the role of the Prologue and is the Emperor of the Imperium of Germania. Saiden Scarlet enters the POV role and details the increasingly powerful House Scarlet as well as the taking of Fairmarket, and the Riverlands. Lucie Lovie first starts off as a POV Character of the story during the Rise of Lucerne and she stands as the oldest child of William Lovie III. of whom she was born to Britney Hemsworth before she was sent away from Lucerne by his increasingly insane father.

The Rise of Lucerne deals with many conflicts including the Civil War in Alcase which is dealt with from the POV of Lesiana Orsinio. The Invasion of Westbridge is heavily the source of parts of the book and over the span of six chapters their are six characters that give a POV of the events of the Invasion of Westbridge.

The Rise of Lucerne begins with the aftermath of the Battle of Berne, and the dramatic end of the Lucernian Civil War which all but ended with the death of Sean Lovie. The expansion of the Kingdom of Lucerne into Westros begins following this as does the long foreshadowing of the eventual continent defining event in the form of the Invasion of Westbridge. The Invasion of Westbridge occurs and leads to Lucerne conquering basically all of Westros on the western side of the Rhine, and dramatically threatening many of the nations in the region and forcing both the Kingdom of Bolten, and The Empire into there own moves. The Rise of Lucerne ends with the dire conseuqences of the Bolten invasion of the Divine Lands which leads to a huge rise in the conflicts in Westros and the eventual Bolten-Lucerne War.

Prologue

The time for inaction is over. We have sat idle, and while we did the Kingdom of Lucerne was allowed to leave their darkness, and have a chance at Rising.
Karl Franz

Karl Franz is the POV Character of the Epilogue and during this chapter he describes the situation in The Empire, and the growing discomfort he feels over the rise of Lucerne, of which the line that ends the Prologue is a shot at the titles.

Chapter One

William Lovie III.

As Faye, Jasper and Emmett tried to console him and help him with Amber he would refuse without words picking her body up and carrying her out of the throne room before collapsing outside of the inner keep where he would be helped up by Faye. He whispers to Faye that he needs to take her out of the fortress so he can bury her, and Faye goes ahead clearing the gatehouse, and letting the front gate open where William carries her all the way out of Berne and reaches the Valley of Berne where the large Lucernian army awaits and it is at this point that Alice meet him and he finally surrenders Ambers body to Jasper and breaks down in Alice's arms. Thomas eventually wakes up to the talking of Alice and William and Thomas at first only wants Alice, but William goes to him and talks to him about his love for Amber and when Thomas reveals that Amber had talked about William to him almost every night William tells him the story of how he met Amber of which was a story that Amber had told him a thousand times before. The Rise of Lucerne
I saw the destruction of the world, and knew I had to stop it. There was nothing left to do but become bigger then everyone else. The Empire was never going to be the beacon the world needed it to be. Westros was on fire. The Bretonians had reached for the stars and been burned. And the old shadow of Numeron was fading far too quickly. It was left to us in Lucerne to change the fate of all those who wished to reject darkness. We were the last hope for a world who had long since given up on believing.

I felt her arms clasp themselves around mine and I looked into her face hoping beyond hope that she would live. I held her face with my hand and begged her to wake. My other hand held her wound with everything I could trying to somehow stop it. I pleaded with her, and I watched as her eyes flickered open. I hugged her tight knowing in my heart that I would want to always remember the feel of her life, as she was perfection, and it was a tragedy that it had taken all of this for me to realize that. ``William...``

``It`s alright my love. Just rest my sweet, Edward will come and...he will...he`ll find a way...``I hadn`t realized that I was crying until I couldn`t see from my eyes anymore, and I felt her hand wipe across my cheek clearing me of the physical signs of my sadness. I knew that i had sent Edward away, and looking at the wound I doubted even his Magi would do anything, but the thought of that not working put a dark fear in me.

``William I love you..." She paused for a moment and coughed. She tried to reach her mouth but was unable to and I would cover her mouth with my hand and pulling it back i saw the scope of blood all over my hand from her cough. "Thomas is your son.`` She said it and I just didn`t understand. She had left, and no one had ever said a word about any of this. How many lies had been told to keep this from me. ``It was my doing. Don`t blame anyone but me for keeping it from you.``

``Why would you Amber? I would have been there for you...I loved you with everything in myself. I would have protected you from everything.`` Her eyes closed as the pain must have overwhelmed her. Looking at her shoulder the blood was smeared all across my hand as it was too large a wound for me to keep from gushing.

``I thought I could protect you. He told me he would kill you...he held a knife to your throat and bid me to leave. I`m so sorry William. I`m so sorry you never got to see him grow. You must promise me that you will protect Thomas from everything. Protect him the way I never could.``

``He lives Amber. My brother would have killed everything to have killed any son of mine.``

``I tried my...`` Her eyes closed and her arm went slack for a moment before I shook her gently and she opened her eyes again. ``It doesn`t hurt anymore. You have to promise me William. Promise me.``

``I promise you Amber I shall protect him. I shall love him, and cherish him as the son that he is. He shall never know pain, or anguish, or sadness. I shall love him as I love you.``

``I`m so sorry...I`m so sor…`` I waited for her to say something, but I wiped more tears from my eyes and saw that her eyes were limp now. Burying my head in her chest I held her close, and I could just register that I was screaming. I could make out the crash as they broke through the doorway and finally entered the room, and I know I felt the hand on my shoulder. Looking at the hand I saw that everyone was now here, and I could see Emmett in the corner where he had fallen against the wall and he held his head in hands for what I assumed he believed he had failed. As Leven's moved in to pull me into a hug I felt Amber being pulled from me and saw Hedrik trying to get her from me.

"No! " Hedrik recoiled at the anger in my voice, and any other time I would have apologized but this time I had nothing. All the strength had left me but I held her close to my chest and lifted her. "This is my burden to carry." I looked around at all those who had assembled in the room, and caught the bloodied sight of my brother lying on the steps. "Burn his body, and then…and then…" I tried to keep talking, to try and show them I was strong, but nothing came out. Leven put her hand on me as if to pull me forward towards the door, and after resisting at first I stopped trying to fight her off. Walking out of the room I know everyone there wanted nothing more then to make this better but…there was just nothing to say. Nothing that could be done.

Chapter Two

Jon Snow spends time with his siblings during Chapter Two, and his brother Robb is shown to be now preparing to ask Doran Martell for Obella Martell`s hand in marriage. As they talk they discuss how Jon Snow finally managed to leave the northern lands, and with a sadness he tells Robb how he was forced to leave Ygritte behind when he left the northern Lands. Jon Snow during the end of the chapter has a conversation with his uncle after he travels northward to Winterfell, and during this chapter his uncle is revealed as a depressed man that is lost in sadness. The two discuss returning north and Benjen tells Jon that when the day comes he will travel alongside him. As Jon Snow and Samwell are nearing Winterfell they are stopped on the road by Randyll Tarly his father and his brother Dickon Tarly, and after a short converstation they leave, and following this Samwell tells Jon that he thinks there both strangers in this land.

Chapter Three

Taking the third chapter as the POV character William Lovie III. is forced to host a tournament at Forks in order to celebrate the great victory of his forces throughout the Kingdom of Lucerne but specifically at Berne, and travelling to Forks with the entire Shadow Council, his wife and heir William Lovie IV. he also has his cousin Kristen Trachtenburg with him of whom takes Thomas with them which pains him as seeing young Thomas makes him think of Amber. continues his changing of the Kingdom of Lucerne, and he begins to outline the capture of Fairmaket of which will become further fleshed out in chapter Four by the POV time of Saiden Scarlet of whom describes much of the annexation of the Riverlands throughout his chapter.  During the tournement Arthas Menathil arrives and William and Arthas spend a long time speaking to eachother finally hashing out what they had been in long mail discussions and William is able to disuade his fears and bring him into the Kingdom of Lucerne amassing a great victory for Lucerne without a sword swung. Following this victory William leaves the tournament for the night and sleeps with Bella Swan of whom he talks with even more about his plans for the Riverlands, and she is very supportive and is clearly extremely loving, but despite this throughout their entire conversation he cannot stop thinking about Brooke after seeing her during the tournament. Following sleeping with Brooke William goes to see Nicoli Machieveli and they are joined by Alice and the three of them discuss their potential choices when it comes to Brooke with many options coming up and William nearly pushing for a second wife before Nicoli manages to convinse William to send Brooke south to Tuscany where she can feel that William is using but the reality is that he needs some seperation from her.

  • During Chapter Three the expansion of the Order of the Dragons begins, and this changes dramatically the landscape of the land.

"Just let her go Will."

"If we are finally being honest about this I have to tell you Alice that I love you the most of any person in this world and I place the impossibility of letting you go right next to letting her go."

"My King I must interject."

"Please talk some sense into my brother Nicoli."

Chapter Four

Saiden Scarlet is introduces as a POV character in Chapter Four and the chapter begins with Saiden leading a force of House Scarlet northward into Fairmarket where he is leading the attack on the left front of the campaign against House WIlde. As the fighting goes forth the forces of House Wilde basically fully retreat, but it isn't until the arrival of Catherine Lovie and a large force of House Lovie that they surround the Wilde fortress of Whellia with some of there forces while the remainder move north to besiege Fairmarket. Arriving at Fairmarket they find it on fire, but were greeted by Olivia WIlde, and Andrik Wilde of whom delivered them the bodies of the Lord of House Jennet, and his child heir as a show of their loyalty to Lucerne. Saiden was beyond angry over this act and wanted to arrest the members of House WIlde but Catherine pardoned them, and forced Saiden to take on Olivia in his personal forces as a sort of prisoner alongside Andrik Wilde. Following the capture of Fairmarket the LUcernians quickly moved northward for a massive meeting in RIverrun where the Riverlords had all but given up on resisting the Lucernians. The alliance of House Scarlet, and House Blackwood begins in this chapter, and the friendship between Saiden Scarlet, and Eddard Starke increased further during this time.

Watching the coast disappear, and the vast city of Riverrun appear on the horizon I was shocked at its scope. The port itself ran for miles, and the port was guarded by two large castles on both edges, and in the distinct center was a massive tower the size of which I hadn`t seen since I saw the Cloud Tower back in Lucerne. Eddard approached from behind me, and I felt his hand go to my shoulder. ``Its quite the sight isn`t it Saiden.`` I looked still at Riverrun as he spoke, and the tide of Blue Flags carrying the Tully Fish were so many that it made the city appear blue.

``Were you as intimated the first time you were, or is it just me.``

``When I came here to marry Catelyn I was beyond scared.`` He walked away and towards the mast, and I followed in behind him. ``Back then the tower you see in the center was nothing but a wall, and now look at it. Its funny the way things change.`` He stared out into the port, and behind us I looked and saw the form of my squire, and other nobles coming from beneath. My family vassals in Sigmund Mien, and Tirrion Fraizen came into sight and Tirrion gave me a bow as he caught glimpse of me looking. I laughed at the gesture of Tirrion who through his mother was my blood relative and was older then me, and yet he still managed to be beyond loyal.

``Will Lady Catelyn be meeting us on the deck alone.``

``I would assume her brother Edmund will meet as well, along with any of the Lords that are in the city.`` He turned towards me and rested his hand on my shoulder. ``Never forget that you and I are Lords of Lands larger and more powerful then these Riverlords. While you may be intimidated by the larger port and the castles, never forget that they know what we represent. We represent a threat that their ships, and their trade cannot hope to resist.`` The boat finally reached the dock, and men poured themselves onto the side throwing ropes to the dock hands, and letting us go ashore.

Following behind Eddard he was enveloped in an intimate hug by his wife Catelyn, and looking at the two I couldn`t help but be envious of that kind of love. I had married Jessica when I was very young and she was already past her bloom. She was a beautiful women I would never say otherwise, but her beauty hid an anger and pettiness that was entirely unbecoming. For years I tried to love her, but despite her good and loyal work for me she was still nothing I cared for truly. Not the way Eddard loved his cat. Not the way William loved Bella. It was just so much lesser then what it should be. ``Lord Saiden shall you accompany us.`` It was a question but the man saying it said it with a hint of laughter and I realized I must have looked ridiculous lost in thought standing on the edge of the boat. I turned and bid my squire Fredick Clegane II. to bring my sword shield and I followed behind Eddard.

As we walked I looked into the bay and watched the ship of Jack Shephard, and the representatives of House Lovie  that had been sent to further the talks. We all knew that with Riverrun so went the entire Riverlands, and other then some hot spots the talks were going extremely well especially with the constant threat of the large Lannister and Starke combining with my houses forces. ``Fredrick have you ever seen ships this big.`` The young boy looked around and he was so awe struck it made me laugh.

``No my Lord I havn`t.``

``Well lets get moving, and perhaps we can find a pretty Brannish girl for you to marry while were here.`` It saddened me that this honorable young man was so mistreated by his father. Apparently his father had spent years working at a betrothal for his younger son, while letting poor Fredick the second of his name sit idle training with the Clegane forces. As he followed closely behind me I wondered whether there was some kind of silent failing in the father that had led to that kind of neglect, but the evidence was so widespread maybe loving your child unconditionally was the rarer act.

Before I knew it we reached the base of the tower, and a giant tent was arrayed where Eddard, his wife and her brother the lord of Rivverun had gathered around a table. A skinny man in purple armor with a intricate beard approached me from the side, and clasped his hand on my shoulder. ``Lord Scarlet I bid you welcome to our beloved Riverlands.`` As he stared at me it dawned in his face that I had no idea who he was, and he laughed. ``I`m sorry my Lord where are my manners.`` He dusted his hands on his jacket before outstretching his hand for me to shake. ``I am Bryndan Blackwood son of Lord Tytos Blackwood of the Raventree. I am very glad to see your people today, as it is long due that Lucerne and Riverlands be joined together. In the coming days know that I am willing and greatly hopeful to help you with everything your people may need.`` Going back to the notes my Maester had given me on the boat, I remembered back to the Blackwood`s and realized the company I was with.

Byrdan Blackwood was the heir to the seasoned but not elderly Tytos Blackwood, and despite being the third oldest was the heir. Apparently some kind of mishap had broken faith in the oldest boy, and since then Bryndan had become the voice of House Blackwood. Maester Seryn told me that the Blackwood`s would be beyond important to us, and thus without another moment pause I reached and shook his hand. ``Lord Bryndan I believe Raventree has a lot to gain from our friendship.``

Chapter Six

In chapter Six the return of Alice Lovie becomes important as she turns the attention to the inner workings of the royalty and nobles within the Kingdom of Lucerne, and during her chapter William and her relationship in background information is heavily featured. Her romance with Jasper is shown during this time as she closes the door behind them as she seduces him, but nothing is shown of what transpires within. She greets diplomats from the Kingdom of Lothlorian of whom have come hoping to expand the relationship from non-excistent to something strong between the two groups, and she finds Teal'Vin Sunstrider a funny person who she gets along with well in there early time. Alice during this chapter also begins to hear rumors from her agents in Tree Hill that Brooke plans to kill Bella, and this horrifies her beyond belief. At the end of the chapter it is revealed that she has been dosing him with herbs that make him fall asleep and convinsing him that they were sleepig together when in fact they were not, but at the end of the chapter the dose doesn't work and she is forced to sleep with him. After sleeping with Jasper she goes to Maester Boestel of whom she asks for Moon Tea and she cries in her room while taking it in order to end any possible pregnancy between her and Jasper.

Chapter Seven

Lucie Lovie is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter she is revealed in the beggining as an unknown little girl called Lucie by Natalie Portmane takes over control for a time as she describes an ever worsening situation in Arnor, and through letters she reads from Chris Hemsworth she tells much about the situation that threatens to unravel in the region. The girl goes with her mother Britney Hemsworth of whom meets with her brother and while there together she hides and listens as her mother tells him the full story of her and William Lovie III. and we learn for the first time that she had given birth to a child of which would be his oldest child in the form of Lucie Lovie. Following this conversation Lucie is sent to play in the gardens with several other noble children including the siblings Ol-Phellia, and Dol-Delian Desrivia of whom she is shown to be best friends with Ol-Phellia, while in her thoughts she has a crush on Dol-Delian but her mothers tight leash on her has led to her never having any chance to ever explore her feelings in this way. She also spends time in the gardens with a second pair in the form of the cousins Tar-Tarik Pharaz IV. and Morwen Beor of whom she is also shown to be close to with Tarik in love with Phellia, while Morwen is behind Phellia her closest friend. The children are interupted by the arrival of King Ilrin-Tarik-Pharaz is there to visit his great grand son Tarik and during this time Tarik and Lucie discuss the happenings in northern Arnor and the ancient Tarik is quite open with how dangerous northern Arnor is becoming due to the work of the Teutons who he shows a real hatred towards.

I moved as quietly as I could, knowing with each step I risked my mothers ire, but her silence of late frightened me more then her anger. My mother had never kept anything from me, and now seeing her silent looks, and the hushed whispers I needed to know the truth.

I pressed my ear to the wall and I heard them talking, but I couldn't quite hear through the wall so I saw a few boxes piled against the wall and made my way to them. Climbing myself up I made my way onto the rafter above them, and it wasn't until I had stopped moving that I saw how high up I was from them. Maybe twenty feet up, and nothing beneath me but a table to protect me in case I fell.

My mothers voice pulled me from my fear of hieights. "Liam it was all coming together perfectly."

"You say that now dear sister, but I have my doubts how succesful your attempts would have proven to be." My mother scoffed at this, and I wondered who they were talking of. What had my mother attempted, and more importantly who had stopped her.

"You have never met the King. I spent years with him, and I know him better then anyone else in this world does. Not even his medelling sister truly knows him as I do."

"He has remarried Britney perhaps he has changed since you knew him all those years ago."

"I'm sure that Italien Swan has changed him somewhat, but his character is unchangeable. He was a perfect prince, and with age he will only be wiser." She spoke of this man with such admiration, and love, and it warmed my heart to hear it. My mother had never taken a lover. Never remarried despite numerous attempts from grandfather to make an arrangement for her, and perhaps this man was the reason. "With the success he has had leading Lucerne, I doubt it will be long before he comes to talk to us. Arnor and Lucerne are ancient allies, and his great-great uncle came here once before. He will follow the footsteps of that great member of House Lovie."

"You speak of him as if he is a god. He is just a man. Nothing more, and please understand my dear sister that he he cannot save Arnor from what is going to come to pass."

"If your so sure we shall be ruined why do you fight?"

Chapter Eight

Hermione Granger is the POV Character of Chapter Eight and during this chapter she is riding up to the walls of Haris where she spots her brother giving out orders to several men, and smiles at far her brother has come from what she remembers him as being. Thomas spots her and the two share a hug before Thomas leads her inside the town where she asks to stay the night, and Thomas clearly realizing that something serious is going on doesn't press her but agrees and takes her to the room that he had made up for her if she ever came to House Granger's new estate in Haris. The two sit and talk over whats been happening with him, but she refuses to reveal anything to Thomas for fear he will talk her out of leaving or worse yet go with him and risk himself and they end there conversation with Thomas kissing her on the forehead and leaving to sleep. Falling asleep she remembers back to her departure from Hogwarts and slips into dreams of this event of which starts with her talking with Harry about her feelings for him, and he wants to tell Ron, but she refuses saying too many will be hurt. As she falls deeper into love with Harry she uncovers evidence of the excistence of the Deathly Grails of which are a very old series of items which she learns Lord Voldermorte has used to obtain near immortality, but she is horrified when she discovers that Dumbledore linked the items to Harry meaning if Harry dies then Lord Voldermorte will die as well. Realizing that Dumbledore will kill Harry she tricks Dumbledore into revealing what is present on Harry that is linked and learning what it is she begins a plan to flee Hogwarts with the necklase around Harry's neck which links him to Lord Voldermorte. As the chapter continues and there affairs expands she becomes increasingly aware of the cost it will have with Ron of whom hints to her that hes been hearing things about Hermione and Harry and openly says that it if it was true he would kill Harry. The dream ends with Ron walking in on Hermione and Harry just after they have finished making love, and waking up sweating Hermione finds it is almost mid-day as she believes the dreams had got her stuck within the fade. Packing herself up she gets back onto her horse and seeing Thomas she smiles at him but he doesn't see her and she sneaks out of the town making her way westward towards Lorraine. Realizing that the ring is in Alcase through the mistake of Dumbledore she plans to travel to Lorraine to find Anna Gushina of whom she believes will use Magi to take her to Alcase and introduce her to the princess of Alcase as she knows without an in she will never meet Leliana Orsinio. After weeks of travelling she makes her way into the Lorrainian capital of Stockgarden where she is shocked to find a Dragonoph Priest preaching at the gatehouse surrounded by several heavily armored guards, and surrounded by a large flock. Listening to the Priest for a few minutes she eventually leaves for the Temple of Maal where the Magi Order of Lorraine would greet her arrival with mistrust until the arrival of Anna Gushina of whom she knew from the Euro Magi Cup years earlier vouches for Hermione and she is led into the Temple of Maal.

"I was born in Karak Mulgar. Have you read of this place?"

"My Great Grandfather and my brothers original namesake wrote long on the Dwarves of the Mountains. In this writing he wrote of two major cities in Mulgar, and Izor."

"It is good that you have read on my home. Your people I find are always missing knowledge on the small things."

"I'm glad that I do not disappoint you Lord Snowblown"

"You do not disappoint me Lady Alice of House Lovie. I to may follow the trivialities of nobility princess. The reason I bring it up is not to embarrass but to tell you of who I am. I was born there you see princess. I was born there, and it was a place of pure beauty. The way you describe your home makes me long to see my own, but do you know what the worse of it is?"

"What is the worst of it?"

"I shall never see my home again. I can still see in my mind every inch of my former home. I may see it but the pain of that is horrifying as the monsters that fill these mountain peaks have taken the reality of my home and left only memories for me."

"The Goblins are a threat to everything that lives."

"I'm glad you see that more clearly then the Numenorians of old who first came here."

"The Numenorians Lord Snowblown?"

"Surely if you know of my homeland young one, you have heard of the Numenorians?"

"I know of the Numenorians Lord Snowblown, but I never knew they were so widespread in the area."

"For years my lady they built their cities around the area your city of Forks now lies. For years there numbers grew, and during this time all was well." His son entered the room alongside Leven and he waited for his son and Leven to take a seat before continuing. "'Then one day our trading partners were just gone. Their vast city of 'Zeor-Ahrami was in ruins. Thousands upon thousands dead."

"What could have killed so many. The Numenorians were not a weak opponent." The maps of the old world showed that the Empire of Numeron had ruled over most of Europe outside of the valley we now lived. They had battled and destroyed every opponent they had ever fought, and only fell to their own failings. It seemed strange they could fall so easily in the night.

"They were not. Unfortunately they were knew to the land. In this inexperience they discovered their enemies that lie deep in the world that are extremely dangerous. The Spiders of the western depths of the mountains had been stirred by the Dark Lord Sauron and had done his bidding."

"What happened after their city fell."

"They sent two large armies to the valley attempting to destroy the Spiders but each time they came they heard nothing from their army and after losing two armies they built a great tower where your Castamere ruins now stand and they forgot this place."

"The largest Empire in the history of the world just forgot about it."

"Even the powerful, and the wise are afraid sometimes."

House Lovie
The Rise of Lucerne
I saw the destruction of the world, and knew I had to stop it. There was nothing left to do but become bigger then everyone else. The Empire was never going to be the beacon the world needed it to be. Westros was on fire. The Bretonians had reached for the stars and been burned. And the old shadow of Numeron was fading far too quickly. It was left to us in Lucerne to change the fate of all those who wished to reject darkness. We were the last hope for a world who had long since given up on believing.

I was awoken by a crash near the bed. Despite the loud crash I looked beside me and Bella remained asleep, and looking over I saw Ashley playing with the rattle hanging from above her bed smiling as if the most happy thing in her life was right before her. Getting out of bed I went to where the noice had come from and discovered nothing, but again I heard a noice. This time the noice came from outside the room, and I walked through the door finding darkness outside of the few candles that remained flickering. Following the noice into the next room I walked inside and nearly fell down when I saw my father sitting in a chair.

"Do not scream son I mean you no harm." Everything in me wanted to scream. Everything inside my soul wanted to lash out at him and kill for everything he had done. Back when I last saw him I knew only a sliver of what he had done. The massacre of a plague, the destruction of Tree Hill, the attempted destruction of Gondor, it just kept going and going.

"You give me one good reason why I shouldn't slash your throat and bury you beside the son you forced into madness, and made me kill." Seeing him brought up everything that had happened at Berne. I thought of poor Amber lying broken beneath me as I carried her fallen body back home. I thought of my poor son Thomas who would now grow up never knowing the love his mother had for him. I could tell him as much as I wanted but it wouldn't change the fact that she was gone. For whatever reason though with him sitting in front of me I thought of my broken brother. In his final moments I had seen him for he was. A scared little boy who had just wanted to be loved, and when he realized he couldn't have that he broke.

"I'm sorry you were forced to deal with that, but I am not to blame for the madness in his soul." It was always an apology to me. Even as Alice was brutalized it was me he apologized too.

"He just wanted you to say one nice thing. How much different would he have been if you had said one god damn nice thing to him." For a moment he flickerered as if battling within himself, but in barely any time the battle ended and he continued.

"I didn't come here to talk of that brother. I came here to discuss more of the mistakes I have made. This is nothing but a spirit in the myst that I now inhabit, and already I have been senced by men better then I ever was. In the end I must tell you of things I have done wrong that you will never know if I do not."

"Thats a list too long for any man to keep track of."

"Perhaps it is, but I love you son and you deserve to know."

"Say it and begone from here spirit."

"Long ago. While you were just a baby I visited Lorderon briefly on my way to the wars in France. During this time I met a women. This women has three of my children. These three children do not have the shame of knowing who I am, or what I have done, and for that you must keep in mind. Find them in Lorderon, and make them whole. Do not make the mistakes I made with our family and hate those who deserve nothing of the kind."

"It never ends with you does it." He looked pained as he continued speaking.

"I never meant to hurt you son."

"I believe that. But you did mean to do every other violent. Depraved. Hateful thing you did."

"I didn't enjoy doing those things. I had to protect you. I had to protect the kingdom."

"How did destroying Tree Hill protect anything?"

"This will be the last time we speak son. I know that may not pain you but for me that's the most painful thing to imagine in my entire life. I watched Kingdoms die. Watched armies destroyed in front of me. Those things don't even compare to the love I've had for you since the moment I first saw you. The first time I held you I knew you were it for me. You were the thing that would drive everything in my life, and I truly with everything inside of me wanted nothing more then your happiness. I know it all went to hell, and after this I'm going to be completely consumed by the things in my mind that are wrong...but I just want you to remember that you have a family now and you must protect it the way I never could. You must protect House Lovie. You must."

"Alice?"

"I'm up. What is it Will?"

"Father was here."

"Where is he now?"

"He's gone."

"What happened?"

He refused to tell me where we were going the entire time I followed him through the corridors. I knew we had time, but I wasn't used to being so out of the loop, and despite my long time as a friend of Edward there was a tinge of fear as we entered the increasingly dark tunnels beneath the palace. Finally he stopped at a door that had the sigil of an eye. "Do not fret Levia the secret shall soon be revealed." He went to open the door but I stopped him.

"I do not like keeping secrets from William, and in your current position I would think you'd be more careful of being seen as keeping secrets." I knew it was harsh, and from the hurt in his eyes I regreted saying it, but he had hit at a gnawing piece of me that worried what Edward's plans were. Had he come to the conclusion that with Jasper and myself as the right and left hand of William that he had lost his place, and that perhaps made him dangerous. Since he had joined the Blue Dragons he had been even more distant. I know he kept talking to William but I had barely seen him, and I know Jasper barely recegnized him anymore.

"Were not keeping secrets from William. He knows what I am doing, and he has blessed my mission."

"Then why all the secrets." I said it louder and more rudely then I had meant to, and I could tell he was torn by what to say, but after a moment he continued.

"The secrets are because the man were going to meet would be placed in great danger if anyone knew where we were going. I kept it a secret because here in Lorderon." He stopped and moved closer to me. "Were in a place none of us fully understand. This place is old. Older then anything elce we have dealt with, and I'm not alone in thinking that age may have corupted it." He turned back to the door placing his hand on the handle. "Do you not feel the darkness here. This place has darkness I have not felt since Berne." Without another word he opened the door and I followed him inside, and without meaning to as soon as I did my hand grasped my sword at my side. It disapointed me more then I thought it would in that moment that I still didn't trust Edward.

"I'm glad to see you Lord Cullen." I turned to the voice and saw a man sitting at a table in the corner nearly consumed by a large hood. He got up from the table removing his hood and looked directly at me. "You must be Lady Martell." He held out his hand, and not wanting to be rude despite my reservations of this situation I took his hand in return. "There is no reason to be frightened of my intentions Lady Martell, I mean you and Lord Cullen no harm." Noone frightened me. Certainly not this man. He had a sullen look to his face despite the smile that covered it. On his left cheek was a scar that stretched to his ear, and it looked like no sword or weapon I had ever seen as it nearly glowed blue. Whatever this man wanted, or whatever he was capable of he did not intimidate me.

"You do not frighten me Ser." He laughed before walking into the room and towards the back of the room. Looking back at me he waved at us to follow him.

"I am no Ser my Lady. I am Medivh a german just like you who happened to be born with the abilities as your friend Lord Cullen. I joined the Kirin Tor when I was young."He stopped for a moment and a splash of hurt went across his face clearly remembering a pain in the past, but he moved on walking further into the room as he continued talking. "Think of the Kirin Tor as the Lorderon version of your Blue Dragons, except for the fact that we serve no king. We serve Lorderon and the people that live within it. That means there are times. Times like now where our duty is to make those who are able to do something about problems, aware that these problems exist." He spoke with an aura of regality that made me think he was either noble born, or been around them long enough know how we spoke and what manurisms worked best in conversations.

"And what sort of problems exist here?"

"I still cannot believe that you don't feel the darkness here. Something evil lurks in this place, and I'm hoping that by working with Medivh we can destroy the evil." He looked at me as if I was some sort of alien for not being able to feel it, and it made me mad. Who was this man to bellitle me and what I could or could not see.

"I feel nothing." I said it with no emotion and turned my face from Edward as quickly as possible not wanting him to get anytthing from me.

"Be happy you fell nothing Lady Martell as the pain I feel when near him is unbearable." Stopping at the table he held his head down in a sort of ashamed look.

"You never mentioned it being a person before this Medivh." I felt a sence of relief that atleast I was not the only one out of the loop.

"I'm sorry for the lieing Lord Cullen but I had to make sure your Kingdom continued down the path of taking control of Lorderon this way."

"Who is this man that causes this darkness." Medivh raised his head an bid us to sit down which Edward did but I remained standing. I never liked the feel of a chair in these sorts of situations. Locking myself in just felt reckless, and I was anything but reckless.

"He was once a noble man. The people spoke of him in barely restrained whispers. They loved him, and his german bride from Kul Tiras. He defeated bandits learned his craft and everything was fine. " He stopped and looked to be in heavy thought for a moment. A smile crossed his scarred face as he must have remmebered the good times of this man. "Then one day, and I saw one day because I do not know what day, or what transpired. One day he was just gone. As if another had taken control of his body and replaced him with a demon. I was approached back then by several Magi from the Kirin Tor of whom said they had felt a terrible presence when near him, so I travelled to Lorderon to see for myself. When I did the two men had been executed for crimes created against them, but the truth they had told me remained. Walking near him was like walking near an empty space in the world."

"Who is this man you speak of Medivh."

"I know him as Azsharion Menathil, but in the toghnue of the germans he is known as Arthas Menathil."

I watched from my window as Robb Starke walked out of the tower and into the street. I wondered what he was doing until I saw the weasely Frey he was walking towards. I could hear that Britt was still talking but despite the loveliness of her conversation I couldn't let Robb get into a duel in the streets. The last thing we needed was a fight with the Frey's at a time like this. "I'm sorry my Lady but I must take your leave for a time my friend is in for some trouble outside."

"Trouble amongst the children of Glaurung on the streets of his city isn't something I can ignore. I shall accompany you." Lady Lancave followed closely behind me as we exited the room.

"Alright my Lady but we must hurry." We made our way down the steps and into the street to find the Frey man with a sword pointed at the direction of Obella Martell of whom was being shielded by Robb who had his hand on his own sword. Three of the Frey's men stood behind him hands on their swords, while more then ten Martell, and Starke men stood around behind Robb. Reaching them I finally could hear their words.

"At some point this must end Frey." Robb held his hands out peacefully and you hoped the Frey would accept this, but he spit at Robbs hands before speaking. It was dark but I knew this Frey to be Hosteen Frey one of the endless sons of Walder Frey. Hosteen is a husky man with a square face, and despite his size he wasn't fat just very large. When we were told of the Freys that had arrived they had made a special point to say that he is very much comparable to a bull, slow to anger but implacable when aroused.

"This could have been so much different wolf, but you chose that whore over a true lady." He looked at Obella with such discust that her cousin Obara nearly charged forward until I saw Britt move infront of her stopping her dead in her tracks. Alongside his anger it was apparent that Hosteen is either dim and stupid, or arrogant and foolish.

"And I am sorry that this has offended your family but you can either accept my apology or you won't." The slight was so small that it seemed almost insane that someone would still be angry over it. These Frey's held a grudge over what I had heard was the fact that a few men laughed at them.

"We will not."

"I am sorry Ser Hosteen but you are causing undue problems for the City of the Dragon, and I must ask that you leave." She stood strong, and I gained even more respect for Britt then I already had as she stood in the middle of two very angry groups barely looking like she was afraid at all.

"The rivers will run red with your blood wolf." He turned and walked back before turning one last time and looking at Robb. "Trust me when I say that. You'll one day be surrounded by death and wonder how it could have all gone so wrong." With that he left and Robb turned towards Obella of whom held onto him tighter then her strength should have allowed her to. As I watched this unfold I knew in that moment I couldn't allow a good and honorable man to be spoken to in that way, so I stepped forward and followed Hosteen back to the ship he was walking towards. Looking behind me I saw that Dustin was right on my heels followed closely behind by Jared. I cold see Britt holding off the rest of them from following me, and I was glad because I wanted to make a point not start a bloodbath.

Natalie Portmane was my aunt by marriage to my mothers brother. Natalie Portmane was my aunt by being the half sister of my father. Natalie Portmane was many things to me at the same time, and it became confusing to keep everything straight. I was a child, and yet I was asked to lie on too many occasions. Even I understood that.

It mattered little as we walked hand in hand through the royal gardens and she told me all about her life in Lorderon. She was a wonderful person and it made me sick to lie, but what good would the truth do for her. Would it change anything? Would it make her happy? Then my mother must be right when she told me to lie. My mother usually was. "Are you alright Lucie?"

"Of course Aunt Natalie."

"I know that I have been away for awhile, but I'm back now, and if there is anything. I mean no matter how difficult it is for you to talk about I want you to know that I'm here."

"I'm alright. Thanks for caring so much about things though."

"Your my family now, who would I be if I didn't watch out for you."

"Probably more normal Aunt Natalie." She laughed and pulled me closer for a moment into a side hug. Pulling up to a bench she sat me down beside her before plopping down next to me in a completely non lady like manner. Her behavior in moments like that made me laugh, and she didn't have to ask what I was laughing at to know. She stared off into the sky looking peaceful, and it gave me a moment to think on her calling me her family. I was able to hear about who my father was through the eyes of my mother but she was in love with him, and as my grandfather told me. Love blinds the mind of even the most brilliant. "Aunt Natalie?"

"Yes Lucie." As she smiled at me I could see the differences in her that weren't obvious at first. Her eyes really struck out at you, and my mother had told me that her eyes were the one thing that reminded her of William, as they shared nearly identical eyes.

"So I know your siblings have met your new half siblings but...I was just wondering if they had told you anything about what they were like." There was a questioning look in her eyes, but she made the decision to not push, and I appreciated that more then she knew.

"Actually Lucie, I have been in contact with my new brother. William Lovie third of his name he titles himself in the letters." She laughs at some private joke, and I feel left out, but I want to hear about my father so I ignore my jelousy and wait for her to continue. "He started writing me months ago actually. The first letter arrived while I was in the west, and he did little more then apolgize for not being able to travel north to Arnor to see me, but he hoped we could get to know eachother in letters until the day came that one of us could go to the other."

"So what is he like?" I knew I shouldn't sound so impatient, as from her side of things there was basically no reason I should have interest in King William Lovie, the third of his name. She could not know that he was my father, and thus I needed to tread more carefully.

"He was kind. I was struck by the care that came through in his writing and I felt like he truly meant his apology at not being able to come and see me. He spoke briefly of himself, and his sister, of whom from the letters alone I could see he loved dearly. He asked me many questions about myself, and the manner of the questions was so perfect that I was at ease anwsering them." She looked at me as if finished, and then after seeing my face she continued. "Are you learning of Lucerne in your classes dear girl?"

"No I'm not...I just." There are too many lies, and I know that I don't think I can look at her honest eyes and lie again so I stare away from her into the beautiful flowers all around us.

"Do not fear speaking to me. Anything you say I shall not repeat. It will lie between the two of us, and you need never question that." I considered telling her, but I knew that my mother was trying to reunite us with father, and if I was the cause of that failing I would never be able to look at her in the eyes again.

"I just don't have a brother, and you have two...I just wondered what it was like thats all."I must have lied well enough because her eyes softened and she pulled me into a hug.

"You my sweet niece are wise beyond your years." A tear fell down my cheek hearing my kind aunt compliment me, and I quickly wiped it away before hugging her tighter.

Towards the end of the chapter she finds a chest of which she cannot open, but when her mother returns she hands her mother her next letter to her father, and gets the return letter from her father that her mother gives her. She reads the letter and becomes shocked when something written in the letter is wrong, and she knows its wrong due to the stories her aunt had just told her about William. Going to find her mother she is prepared to confront her mother but sees her mother place the letter she had given her and putting it inside the chest before locking it behind her.

While waiting here it is brother Jamie Portmane that arrives with a force of a thousand men from Lorderon and when Jamie arrives at his command tent he greets him with great happiness alongside Jasper Hale, and his cousin Marcel Lovie II. the three talk about the plans going forward in regards to the Invasion of Westbridge and after William must sense some sadness in Jamie he asks the others to leave and the two talk together about Tamsin and William tells him very clearly that he wont ever be whole until he finds her. After talking for some time William is forced to deal with other things and Jamie returns to his forces with the words of his brother ringing in his ear, and William could not know just how much of history he was going to change by pushing Jamie down the road of going after Tamsin. Following the bypassing of Margrove and leaving behind the Scarlet forces to besiege the city the main army makes its way northward stopping one last time just south of Westbridge in the final meeting point for the main army of Lucerne, and he spends the day and night preparing for the coming days battle.

The Rise of Lucerne
I saw the destruction of the world, and knew I had to stop it. There was nothing left to do but become bigger then everyone else. The Empire was never going to be the beacon the world needed it to be. Westros was on fire. The Bretonians had reached for the stars and been burned. We were the last hope for a world who had long since given up on believing.

I walked with Jasper passed the orange tents of the Martell`s and had a tinge of excitement as I knew I`d see Leven. She was a truly great friend, and the fact that I hadn`t seen her for some time gave me pause as to why I seemed to always treat her that way. She was one of the Shadow Council, but in a lot of ways she was the forgotten member. Treated as an outsider without every really saying it outloud.

Jasper constantly questioned to me whether the feelings that she held for me were recipricated, and it was never really something I had been forced to deal with. When we were young and sleeping together I had pushed it aside because I was angry and bitter, and she was one of the few that loved me to such a level that in the back of my mind I knew I could treat whatever way I wanted. I would never be able to apologize enough to her for what I did to her back then, but she had never asked for an apology which honestly just made it worse.

Shaking hands, and saying my hellos to the knights along the way I was stopped by the fat lord Mavin Vaith of whom was a good man, but my uncle had always joked he loved his pies and cakes far more then he did anything else. When I questioned how I could trust such a man Emmett had joked that I should simply send him cakes and pies as often as possible. Jasper would sacrifice the time of Emmett so that we could move past, and I could just make out the look of anger that he shot at Jasper who just laughed in return. Walking into the Martell`s main camp, I saw Leven, Dorea, and Obella on one side of the table, flanked by Wilheim, Mandon Moore, and Maryn Trant who were on the other side. As I got closer I saw a young boy that looked the spitting image of Maryn and despite never knowing him I assumed it was his heir in Ian Trant, and the boy despite his youth would immediatly know to bow on my entrance. ``My Lords, how goes the planning.``

I shouldn`t have been suprised when Leven was the first to anwser. ``My King the Martell forces are well ready for anything asked of them.`` You would hardly know that we were best friends with the dutiful way she spoke, but I knew even if I told her not to she wouldn`t ever speak to me outside of privacy in anyway other then extreme class.

``My cousin is correct my King. The final elements of House Trant arrived just this morning bringing our entire force to bear. We are now completely ready for the assault.`` Wilheim would bow as well after speaking, and pointed towards the different elements on the papers they were looking at, showing how strong in number they were.

``Excellent. I must continue my rounds as I still have the Faraday`s and their most likely desire to see me hand the Highmore`s over as a good luck charm for the battle to deal with.``There was laughter in the tent, and it went that way for a good ten minutes longer until Emmett came into the tent with a less then happy look on his face telling us that we had to retire for the night. I bid the commanders get some rest before the night got to late, and gave Leven a nod of my head a brief smile before shaking each of their hands and kissing Dorea, and Obella`s hands and then moved out of the tent. As I walked following Jasper and Emmett who were by this point argueing about Jasper`s joke on Emmett I felt a hand on my back and went to see what Draco wanted, but when I turned and looked it was Leven smiling at me. ``Leven, its good to see you.``

``I`ve missed you too my King.`` I wanted to force her to call me Will like she did when we were in private, but I knew it was a lost cause so I just moved forward.

``I`m sorry I had to rush out like that I hadn`t meant...`` She smiled at me before raising her hand as if to say for me to stop. She had always been far too kind for me, and it was true shame and a boon to have a friend as pure as she was.

``Nothing to apologize for my king. I was just happy to see you. Its been...Its been a long time.``Her saying it brought me to the realization of how long it had truly been since I`d seen her. She had allowed her hair to grow out, and her orange tinted armor was a masterpiece that I know she took very seriously. When we were young there wasn't a moment that I was training that she wasn't nearbye. There wasn't a time that I was bettering myself that she wasn't right beside me making herself better too.

"It's been too long." I meant it more then I could put into words. The problems with Edward had left me understanding how fragile relationships were. I wanted to make sure that Leven perhaps my greatest and most loyal friend didn't become an Edward so I acted. "Leven are you available?" Her eyes lit up clearly realizing or atleast hoping I was going to ask her to join us.

"If you have need of me your grace I am avaliable."

"Then follow us we have some Faraday, Highmore fueds to hear about." She laughed before looking around and making sure noone had seen before smiling back at me. "Come on milady lets go."

"How many different ways can such a small group describe how they hate something."

"William, I have no idea how you were able to just stand there and listen to that. Desmond spent five minutes describing how he felt Draco's armor was an insult to your house. I wanted to stab him in the chest." She laid her sword down as I unclasped my shoulder armor and rested it on its hanger. My gloves came off with some difficulty and I had to remember to have the armoror look at them before I went into battle.

"Please don't do that Leven. If you do then I'll have to hear about the orange armor of murderous Leven Martell and how I should send you into the mountains to live on goats." The Faraday's were embaressing themselves, and I don't know whether they cared enough anymore to change it. Perhaps there hatred over the death of Joey Faraday was so strong now, that nothing could stop it until one side was dead. It seemed to me that death was the only way out of this mess, but when the Faraday's wanted the death of an individual that was months away from being a member of my own house they seemed the only canidates to die.

"What fools the Faraday's are." She pulled off her final piece of chest armor and rested it on the ground. It was difficult not to look at her sexually, as she was a walking temptation. A girl who loved me as deeply as Leven did, and of whom looked like that was nearly a sin to not touch, but I had commited far too many sins of late to add one more so easily.

"I'v truly missed you Levia." She stopped taking her armor off for a moment and looked at me with a smile so wide it didn't seem possible.

"I've missed being called Levia." She left her lower armor on and moved to sit beside me on the bed, and again the temptress tempted me.

"Your sisters call you Levia."

"Obella has been away with Robb in Stormwind, and Dorea has been in the north visiting High Hrothgar." She said it with such sadness, and lonliness that I knew in that moment how much hurt I had caused her. I hadn't meant to send her away for so long, but she was honestly the only one other then Jasper that I could truly count on.

"I'm sorry I sent you away I just...Its just you guys are my only sure things." I wondered if I still counted Edward amongst that number. Was my bitterness towards him ever going to go away.

"Why not Emmett, or Edward then. I don't mean to be rude, but I missed you. You are my best friend, and I felt like you just sent me away like I was nothing." A tear fell down her cheek, and I wiped it with my hand and as she fell into my hand I caressed her cheek.

"I am truly sorry Leven. I have taken you more then any other person in my life for granted. I love you, and I guess I thought in my mind that you and I were just...just so close that I could take advantage of you. Does that make sence." It was the truth, and if there was one thing I wanted to remain it was our honesty. I never wanted to skirt around eachother the way we all did now with Edward. It was a fate for us worth then the ending of our friendship.

"It does, but please don't anymore. We are better off close to eachother. I don't mind leaving every once and awhile, but that was a long time."

"Never again, unless the world is ending and its the only way to live." She laughed and rested her head on my shoulder. "Lets pray it never comes to that Levia."

Forced to leave Paris after the arrival of the Deatheater persuaders the group flees south trying to make there way to Lyons and travelling for days and nearing exhaustion they stop at a small farm where the farmer allows the three to stay at his farm. Leaving south from the farmers home they reach the outskirts of the destroyed ruins of Lyons where she finds remnants of human survivors eking out a terrible existence within the city, and from these humans she learns of the location of Bill Lovie being in the ruins of Orleans and not the ruins of Lyons as she had assumed. Spending a brief amount of time with the survivors she learns also that they believed the world had been destroyed by the Orcs as this was the news that had become common place among the survivors of France as the Orcs had begun to incorporate human collaborators of whom brought in more slaves and also spread rumors among the humans remaining that there was nothing outside of the ruins. After assisting the survivors with some Magi supplies she would bid them goodbye before making her way to Orleans where she encounters nothing but ruins and Orc parties of which she is only able to evade through her groups constant use of Magi to conceal their movements. Arriving at the ruins of Orleans she plans to enter the city alone and allow herself to be captured under the knowledge she is going to trick Bill Lovie into believing she is on his side and thus joining him. As the plan takes shape they move into the forests near the ruins of Orleans finding a small community of humans led by Luke Ellerdeen of whom would hide the other members of the party while Hermione went to Orleans. I could just see Edwards back, but everything about his stance told me that the moment he saw Jasper he had grown weak. The golden armor of Jasper made him look angelic, but the look on his face when he saw Edward was more demonic. The two were supposed to be best friends, and thus seeing him looking at Edward with such distain wasn`t something I expected.

``What brings you here Edward.`` There was such Malice in his voice that the reason behind it must be bad. You don`t speak with that level of hate, unless the true reasoning for it is something beyond just a simple argumement.

``Jasper please. The King wishes for you and Edward to remain civil, please do not make this uncomfortable for our guest.`` She said the guest part as a question wanting Morrigan to anwser who she was.

``I am Morrigan of the Order of the Blue Dragon, and my friend Edward here was taking me to meet the King.`` Jasper clearly didn`t like this and stopped looking at Morrigan and turned towards Edward.

``I`m sorry Leven but how am I to remain calm in his presence when he brings strangers to see the king. I am sorry Lady Morrigan but I know nothing of you, and here you stand prepared to meet the King of the Valley.`` Edward remained unmoving, and I felt bad for him as I watched him. The Edward I had met earlier had been like the Edward I had met when he was with the army that had relieved us in Tree Hill, and just like then he was confident, and personable. He wasn`t this weakened man that I saw now with shoulders slumped looking asleep while standing.

``Lord Hale it has been a dream of mine since the kings heroic saving of Tree Hill to meet him. I promice you that I mean you no harm.`` Jasper didn`t smile just sort of stopped moving for a moment. He looked briefly pale as he stood motionless, and Leven looked at him wondering just like I was why he was standing so still, and then before Leven could say anything he shook his head and became remade.

``I believe...I know you say that milady but there are lots of things that many people would say to try and get close to the king. That is why we do not let random people meet him at random times. If you wish to see him then make arrangements to do it when we have returned to Lucerne. But now it is...``Jasper telling Morrigan to leave was interupted by the tent opening to reveal William in soft black armor. Nothing like the golden dragon armor that he had worn into battle this armor was clearly meant as a sort of stylized protection while he was not in battle.

``Edward it is great to see you.`` He smiled at his friend for a moment waiting for him to speak but when he didn`t William went to speak again but was interupted by Morrigan.

``Your grace it is...your grace it is an honor to finally meet you in person.`` William looked away from the still silent Edward and rested his hand on Morrigan`s shoulder.

``Please milady rise. You are Morrigan of the Blue Dragon I have heard through the thin walls of this room.`` He looked over at Jasper clearly proving that he had heard the argueing between the two, and Jasper smiled briefly before returning to his stoic face of no emotion.

``I had not meant to cause this level of problems my grace, I had just always wished to meet you in person and thank you for all you had done for the people of Tree Hill, and if I may say. All the things you did for me when you saved Tree Hill.``

``You were in Tree Hill during the siege.`` I didn`t blame him for not knowing every soul he had saved in that city. The ruins of Tree Hill were just so large, that it hid the fact that so many had been still inside all those years. All manner of people had fought there way together during that time, and Morrigan was just another shadow on the wall as the city burned around us all.

``I was your grace.`` She said it with a softness, and even from this far I felt her pain. Her family was non-excistent to me, but she had never mentioned losing anyone during the siege, or even having anyone. Her mystery became in this moment very real, and I wondered why I had never asked her before.

``A terrible thing that happened there, and I must apologize that it took me so long to undue the damage that should have never happened.``

``For a few minutes of your time all is forgiven your grace.`` He laughed along with Leven as she said it, and then despite the glares she was getting by Jasper he waved her in followed by Leven and then Morrigan followed in behind. After Jasper shut the door behind Morrigan I watched as he called two more gaurds to stand at the door, and then walked away followed behind by Edward of whom walked with more raised shoulders now.

Chapter 48

Jon Snow is the POV CHaracter of this chapter and during this chapter he recieves word from his father and brother that the main leadership of House Starke will be remaining in Westbridge for some time and that Catelyn and many wives may come northward to visit them, but the younger children should remain behind with Jon as the road is not safe enough for children. Jon Snow during this chapter recieves a letter form Jeor Mormont at the southern wall of which details the fact that the Wildlings north of the wall are being brutalized and are forming forces trying to break through and get south for protection. Armies of Whites have been seen approaching the wall but each time they are pushed back by the defenders of the wall, but the most recent attack they suffered casualties as the White Walkers were able to get close enough to somehow summon dead back to life on the southern side of the wall.

I opened the door to find Rickon standing with a massive smile on his face holding a letter. ``What did you do Rickon.``

``Nothing Jon.`` He handed me the letter and ran away down the hall laughing, and the carefree way he moved made me laugh. His running was quickly followed by Brann of whom yelled after him without even a look at me. The troubles of the world were just lost on the children. I guess that was the point of fighting. The old fought to hide the violence of the world from the children who deserved a chance at a childhood.

I closed my door again, and came to rest behind my desk, and settling down I finally saw the name on the front of the letter. ``Lord Snow``. The words written beneath it gave me chills as the words ``Nights Watch of the Southern Wall`` pushed themselves across the letter. I quickly pulled a knife from my side and opened the seal on the letter and then laid it out on the table reading what I hoped would be the first good news I had heard from the north in many months.

Lord Snow,
I know that now you will have heard from our friends in Strom that the tidings in the north are not good, and I wish I was writing to you now with better news. The White Walkers have remained silent for the moment, but whatever has caused them to pause is not a good thing, and I take great pains in knowing that. The Wildlings were for a time content to attempt organize themselves north of the wall and try and rebuild their shattered lives, but that is changing.
Three days ago they attacked the Shadow Tower with nearly five hundred men, and many giants and other creatures. We pushed them back, but through those we captured we have discovered that the Widlings are organizing under Mance Rayder and are planning to storm the wall.
They cannot survive north of the wall anymore Jon. They have no choice now whether they can stay north of the wall or whether they should die to try and cross the wall. I am honor bound to resist their attempts at crossing the wall as the Strom will not allow the Wildlings to cross, and they have sent some two thousand men at arms to the wall in order to reinforce us.
It is cruel thing I do to you Jon. I know you cannot change what is happening and I know you have your duty, but this world is going to change beyond what I think we will recegnize.
If I see her you have my word that I will not harm her. I will keep her safe it is possible, but I fear Jon nothing north of the wall is safe anymore.
Your frend, Jeorh Mormont, Lord Commander of the Nights Watch.

There were just no words to say that would make this any better for me. I don`t know what I wanted but, I almost didn`t want to even know what was happening there anymore. Ygritte`s face already haunted my dreams in both sleep, and while awake, and now to learn it was unravelling just broke my heart.

At the end of the chapter he recieves word that the main Lannister force has returned and he goes to meet them at Lannistane where he will be the first to tell them what Joffrey Lannister has done.

"What do you want from me Alice?"

"I want you to finally tell me if your going to do what is right."

"If you mean stop seeing Brooke I'm sorry sister but I cannot do that. She has ahold of something within me, and no matter how hard I try I cannot accept my life without her in it."

"It is far past the time of continuing this affair. I gave you time sweet brother, but it must end. The people scream of your greatness, but soon the whispers of your affair will become louder, until the day comes that all the victories in the world wont shelter us from the noise."

"How could people know about my relationship with Brooke."

"They know the same way that we know. You don't hide well. You called her to come to Westbridge? Did you honestly thing noone would notice the noble lady of House Scott coming to Westbridge and spending all of her time with the King."

"Maybe what people think isn't the end all for me Alice."

"It should be Will, but if your saying you need more I have more."

"What more could you have?"

"Morrigan reported to an agent of ours in the Green Dragon's that Brooke has entered into a number of poison shops. I can show you the letters, but the action speaks for itself."

"God Dammit!"

"William I'm sorry."

"You are not sorry. Don't you see that this breaks me? Dont you understand that without her I feel hollow."

"Think about Bella."

"If I didn't love Bella I would have divorced her years ago and been with Brooke. Thats the problem. I do love Bella. I love her for everything she is, and I couldn't think of a more perfect wife."

"Then you need to forget about seeing Brooke."

Travelling to Brill he is able to recruit Taylor Swift as she was already sent word by William of whom commanded her to follow Edward, and while this is happening she tells him about the romantic drama between herself and the Hirshe's and thus she is shocked when they are invited alongside her enemy in Anna Kednrick.

Lady Gemma Cullen,
I am sorry about the rushed nature of my last letter, but the news was not good, and you and your cousin were the only people I knew well enough in Lucerne that were close enough to the king to effect any kind of real change. I am sorry for the history lesson, but you must understood all of this if you are to believe me.
Arthas Menathil was born, and from that moment forward he was destined to be the king of Lorderon. The people cheered his every move for he was noble, and just in all things that he did. Then like the wind flowing through everything disapeared in him. Where once there was nobility there was now only darkness. His parents would sent for a paladin in the north to train him, and we all thought the paladin had been succesful. He wasn`t the same true knight as he was before, but he wasn`t the same violent monster he was before either. I returned to my studies believing all was well, but I have learned it was all a lie.
You must understand that men have lost their lives to bring me this information, and now he is chasing me as well. I am not some traitor to the cause of the Menathil`s. I do not wish for gold, or power. I have learned that since he handed over Lorderon to Lucerne he has formed a chaos cult, and is planning to destroy the state in a bloodbath. I do not yet no his end game, but whatever it may be you need to understand only one main thing. It will not be positive.
My former prince wants the world to burn in the same manner as he burns. He hates all things now and he wants it all to disapear. I cannot stop him alone, and as I said you and your cousin are the only ones I know close to the king. Use what influence you have and speak to the king. If failing this go to your cousin. I warned him years ago of this, and I only hope he is the same person he was when we last spoke.
Take a leap with me Gemma Cullen and we can save the world together.
Medivh, Counciller of the Six for the honorable Kirin Tor

The Rise of Lucerne
I saw the destruction of the world, and knew I had to stop it. There was nothing left to do but become bigger then everyone else. And the old shadow of Numeron was fading far too quickly. It was left to us in Lucerne to change the fate of all those who wished to reject darkness. We were the last hope for a world who had long since given up on believing.

There was a blind rage in the eyes of Jamie as he charged out of the tortures room and towards his father. There was no time to do anything I just made with all speed and chased after him with all the speed I had, and still he seemed to move faster. The hate drove him forwards, and I feared then what would happen when he found his father.

``Jamie please we need to think this through.`` He kept walking ignoring my words, and I knew that he was right in his rage, but his father was beyond reproach in many ways. We knew from the assassin that his involvement was there, and that was enough for treason charges if he was anyone else, but he wasn`t just someone. He was the Arch Lord of Stormwind, and that meant in a lot of ways he could do whatever he wanted.

Jamie ripped the door open and stormed into the council chambers, and for a moment he paused seeing Eddard, and Brandon Starke in the room alongside his father. Scanning the room for other threats he must have liked his odds because he charged his father who raised his gauntlet striking Jamie in the face as he charged. The knocked him for a second, but he piled back into him, and wrestled him to the ground.

The commotion was followed by the three Lannister gaurds getting into the mix trying to seperate the two, but Jamie knocked them back, as they had been trying not to hurt Jamie and thus were being less physical then they needed too. Jamie unsheathed his sword and pointed it at his father. ``Tell me why.`` Tywin stayed stoic, and remained silent, and this caused Jamie to move the sword closer to his throat. ``TELL ME WHY!`` He screamed it out this time, and it caused a slight change in Tywin`s face.

``There`s just no anwser I could give you that would make you understand son.`` It was almost impressive to see this old man stand so bravely in front of Jamie of whom everyone knew was beyond dangerous. He just stood there staring back at his shaking son, and kept himself calm, and I wished I was able to channel that kind of emotion in times like this, as I saw my hand shaking to my side.

``Well you had best try, or there going to start calling me Jamie Lannister the kinslayer.`` One of the gaurds moved closer at this threat and Jamie swung his sword in the mans direction backing him away.

``Tommen wasn`t the target of my assassins.`` Several Lannister, and Starke gaurds came into the room, and Jamie waved his sword in their direction to keep them distant from he and his father.

``The assassin told us that he was.`` I had been there when we had dipped the man`s feet and hands into hot coals, and I had heard him with his own words when he told us the culprite of the attack.

``So while torturing someone they told you what you wanted to hear. How shocking.`` I moved closer behind Jamie and saw that Robb, and Jon Starke had entered with their swords out obviously fearing for the elder starke members in the room. Jamie may have had a rivalry with Robb, but this wasn`t about that.

``I do not believe you, but who was your target then. Who could you possibly have been targetting in the Lionsden other then a Lannister.``

``I told you it wasn`t young Tommen, I didn`t say anything about it not being a Lannister.``

``Every word that comes from your mouth is a fucking lie, just speak. Speak for a moment as if you were a human being. Speak for a single second as if you were not trying to find some advantage in this conversation.``

``We can discuss this when we are away from outsiders.`` I looked to the Starkes, and the other vassals of whom nearly everyone outside of Hanzal Reyne had their swords out clearly ready for this to go badly.

``NO!`` He screamed it out again, and this time I didn`t know if he would listen to reason. I had never seen Jamie this angry before, and I didn`t know if anyone outside of Cersei would be able to stay his hand.

``Your acting like a child Jamie. You are embaressing yourself, and you must remember who you are speaking...``Tywin`s condemnation of Jamie stopped the moment Jamie`s right hand struck him in the face knocking him to the ground. The look on his face as Jamie swung at him was one of shock and dismay. I don`t think there was a semblemence of thought in his mind where he believed that Jamie would have struck him.

``Who did you order to be killed. You will tell me this moment or I will stick this sword into your heart.``

``Your embaressment of a brother.`` There was silence in the room and Jamie lurched backwards somewhat. Tywin got himself to his feet, and stared back at his shocked son.

``Tyrion...why would you...`` There was shock in his voice, but also a lot of pain. Jamie loved his brother, and it must have been terrible to hear for him.

``Because he is a constant reminder of failure. All he had brought to us is death, and failure, and it was time for him to be gone.``

``But he`s your son. Is this what fate awaits me once you have grown tired of me.``

``Of course not Jamie. This should have all been done so clean. I shouldn`t have to be dealing with this. What a failure those fools made of the act. I had paid a good sum of money to make sure that Bronn character wasn`t going to be around when the deed was done, and yet there he was. I paid even more to make sure Tyrion would die and yet here we are.``

``No father it`s time for you to be gone.`` I saw him pause for a moment and I knew from being with him all these years he was going to kill Tywin in that moment, so I did the only thing that I thought might stay his blade. I jumped in front of Jamie shielding Tywin from the strick, and the moment he saw me his eyes softened and his sword dipped somewhat.

``Don`t do this Jamie.``He looked past me to his father, and I saw the hate in his eyes as he glared at him. There was a part of me that thought he might strike me down in his bloodrage to try and kill his father. That part of me that had watched him murder and kill during the Gondor War thought he would now bring all that death to his father. ``Jamie there will be consequences for this, but you do not have to suffer for your fathers sins.``

Franklin though finds himself very unblieving of the apology and when he does send the letter to Robb Starke he advises Robb that his meeting with the Frey's told him that they were very much holding a grudge against him and he should be very careful.

"Lord Brent." I turned to the same weasely sound I had been forced to listen to for the past weeks, but this voice was new. Turning around I saw a burly man walking towards me. He had a scar that covered much of the right side of his face but even through the scar the Frey look was still clear enough to see. "I'm glad I got a chance to speak to you before you left Lord Brent." He stuck his hand out while giving me a smile. Taking his hand I couldn't look away from the smile. It was a grin ear to ear, but it was a smile he was trying to hard to put forth. My father always taught me if someone smiles to look to their eyes. The eyes told the truth when lips told a story. Looking at him it felt fake. It felt constructed. " I am Hosteen Frey."

"It is good to meet you Ser. I was told you were in Koenisburg."

"I made a brief trip to Koenisburg. I returned just an hour ago."

"I'm quite honored you saught me out so quickly after your trip."

"Well in truth I must tell you Lord Brent that meeting you was not my only reason for this conversation."

I walked into the room and was shocked to find a man clearly brutalized chained to what was seemingly every piece of the room. "Why has he been chained so many times?"
"Do not be taken in by what you see on the surface. This man is beyond contempt. He has done things, and planned things that no rational human would ever do." Medivh walked to the man and raised his head so that we could see his face. His eyes remained closed but I saw nothing in his face that screamed that he was a monster. "His mind is completely the domain of a demon now. Nothing remains of what was once someone's child."
I moved closer to the man and as I did he must have realized my presence and opened his eyes. His eyes were sad, and despite the reservations I had due to what Medivh had said I found myself wanting to help this man. "How could you know that?"
Medivh walked away from the man and stood against the wall for a moment before speaking again. "Edward this is the moment you are going to learn about the demon within all of us. Your demon is slight but still there. You don't know the demon yet and that is something that you need to understand if your going to help your people through this. Talk to the man. Prove me wrong if you can."
I stopped for a moment unsure of how to move forward, but when I looked around for Hilary I saw her waiting. Her eyes showed that she believed in me, and I knew I couldn't fail that kind of trust. Moving closer to the man I kneeled on the floor and spoke. "What is your name?"
He coughed a bit before speaking "Tilder Meanist of House Meanist."
He spoke with an aura of nobility despite the surroundings he was in or the condition, and that made me know very quickly that he was either a well of noble or one used to pretending he was. "What have you done to make my friend believe you a demon?"
He coughed again this time for a longer period of time before being able to speak. "I woke up and found myself in this tower with that monster doing...doing unimagineable things to my friends. He won't let me explain but I know you'll hear me...you'll believe me won't you?"
The man sounded utterly frantic, and the way he spoke of his friends made me wonder how much of all of this that Medivh had left out. "You need to tell me before I can say anything."
"This man believes me some sort of demon, but I just want the freedom of my people. Your a Lucernian I can tell. Your people were not meant to come here. This land..."He stopped and coughed again before speaking. "This land isn't yours. Listen to me none of that is important right now. That monster has killed all of my men, and left me alone while my family waits for me at home."
I looked at Medivh for a moment wanting to understand what was happening here. "What proof do you have Tilder that you are not a cultist?
He looked hopefully at me, and I felt a slight tinge of arrogance come from him "The same proof I told the monster about. Talk to my wife. She will show you that I am who I say that I am."
"And if I speak to her and find a different outcome?" I could see Medivh in the corner shaking his head, and for a moment I looked at this young man before me and wondered if he truly was a demon. If he wasn't a demon then Medivh was a liar and that meant all of this could be some sort of trap.
"Then I am lost and you should kill me."
From the look on Medivh's face he told me silently that he knew where his wife was, and would take me to her. "Your putting a lot of faith in how one conversation will go arnt you."
"I have faith in what I see your eyes. You are a good soul, and I know you will try and do what is right."
"I will speak to your wife, and when that is done we will all know the truth."
"The truth will be known by all."

I was still reading the notes when a knock to the door moved my vision upwards for the first time in hours. "Come in" From the openeing door came Doma Rossan and Tobias Henkel of whom the former entered holding a letter. "What can I do for the two of you?"

"My Lord we have intercepted a letter meant for Paris that may reveal the location of the former King." Tobias remained kneeled until I bid him to rise, while Doma was known for her lack of understanding of such graces, and remained in a sort of half bow and the other half some sort of lazy lean.

"Show it to me please." Doma stepped forward and handed me the letter of which wasn't sealed. "I assume you opened the seal, and their are little questions of its authenticity?" Tobias stepped forward bowing before me and then speaking.

"Yes we killed the three men carrying the letter and they all carried the badge of the false king."

"Good." I opened the letter from the rope that kept it together and begin reading.

May the true King of Lucerne rule forever,
We are preparing the latest shipment from Orleans, and it should arrive to you no later then two months. We have been having problems on the road so make sure to tell your Orcish overlords that they need to protect the roads better or else they risk us not being able to send out product to them.
There will be a squire from the lands of the Franks coming to join you. Teach him what you can until the slaves arrive, and from there send him south to Orleans with ten of your best men. He must reach Orleans this is of great importance as he is of great importance. Do not ask who he is, and do not harm a hair on his person or else the true king shall send you to hell in the most painful trip of your life.
In other news we need you to keep your ears out for the location of a certain Teutonic man named Aerin Toldenhammer of whom is meant to give you a series of books that are of great importance to us. He may not come here and if he suggests this then make sure to tell him that if he comes here then we shall burn him alive and take the books. Make sure he understands that this is us forgiving him, and he should be thankful for that.

-Kieth Schwartz

I knew who Kieth Schwartz was and that made it all the more terrifying to hear that he still lived. It showed their stupidity that they simply stated they were in Orleans, and so stupid was this that I wondered immediatly whether this was a trap. "What information do we have on the Orleans area of France?"

"Ezio from our talking to several Elves of Quel'Thalas the area of Orleans was especially hit by the Orcs, and there is nothing of any kind of population of humans that remains in the area." Sometimes the way she spoke to me without using proper titles made me think she was the only one with any real bravery around me, but sometimes I wondered whether she was some kind of noble. It would make sence for her to have come from some kind of money, as she spoke far too good of the language to

"Have the Elves been to Orleans?" I knew the Elves travelled northward many times during the recent years as they attempted to both locate more humans to funnle into the area they were trying to grow into a buffer zone for themselves, and I hoped they might have gone as far north as Orleans during these trips.

"They say that they rescued several slaves of whom were being sent to Paris from the ruins of Orleans, and the hellishness of life in Orleans was very clear from their reports." Tobias stopped when Doma put a hand to his arm and we both waited for her to speak.

"My Lord." She paused for a moment and it gave me time to think about the fact that she had called me by my title. "I believe I am the perfect soldier to be sent to find out whether this is the location of Bill Lovie. Me and Tobias can take our Whelps and fly by Griffin to the area and scout it out without any problems."

"You are correct Doma you would be the perfect person, but I must ask why you want it so badly. In my years wanting something with passion can be either a very good thing, or a very bad thing."

"King William third of his name has given us so much, and I just want...I just need to do something for him. I spoke with him when we were in Westbridge, and the care with which he spoke to me was something I shall never forget. He knew I was a member of the Violet Dragons, and that didn't matter to him. He spoke to me as if I was the highest of ladies when he knew I wasn't, and for that he deserves someone to help him. Help him find the truth that he needs to know." I watched her as I thought. It was clear she was skilled enough for the task, but I worried about what her alterierve motives were, and whether these motives would be a hinderance or a boon to the mission. I watched her face though and saw a change. Something in her eyes when she looked at me changed. It was like watching the purpose behind one's entire life, and I knew which side of the ledger her involvement would sit.

"When do you depart Doma?"

After the wedding he meets with several of the leaders of the city including Hanna but not including Byron Arryn of whom is noticeably absent from the proceedings. Aria Arryn was shown as the sort of Matriarch of the family as William learned that the people were quite disrespectful towards the Arch Lord Byron Arryn. Following an argument with Jasper it is Alice that goes to find Marcel and together the two stand on the balconies of the Arryn estates and discuss their relationship and how close the two have gotten over the years. As Alice goes to leave for bed Marcel gives her a gift and taking it back to her room she opens the gift discovering a tiny stone and beside the stone a note that detailed that the small stone was a magi device that allowed the two to communicate no matter how far apart they were and as she touches the stone which is attached to a necklace she feels Marcel's thoughts as if they are her own.

And the old shadow of Numeron was fading far too quickly. It was left to us in Lucerne to change the fate of all those who wished to reject darkness. We were the last hope for a world who had long since given up on believing.

I watched from afar as he stood on the balcony watching as my brother the king walked with several of the lords of Berne. My brother was planning the expansion of Lucerne`s assets into the west, and Lord Byron Arryn was no where to be found. I had heard from Hanna that he was now called the scared bird by those that served him when he was not around, and in a truth so horrifying it was almost laughable Benjamin Krinner had called him Lord Veregnst Arryn which meant scared bird in old German.

``Is it true that they call him the scared bird.`` Aria was a loyal girl, and intelligent beyond nearly everyone I had met, but I thought she would speak the truth to me. We had known eachother back in Lucerne, and our relationship was such I could trust her.

``It is true Alice.`` There was shame as she said it, and that pained me.

``I heard he was absent, and perhaps even pathetic during the time of my brother here, but to see him this way is sad.`` It was now legend how he had abandoned his dying niece, and then not even lifted a finger as Sean had stabbed his own wife. What sort of man can stand and watch that, and do nothing.

``My father is not a brave man. Not the type that instills love or adortion from his lords, or anyone really. My mother was perhaps the last one that loved him. Loved him truly for who he is.``

``What do you think could be done in terms of fixing the situation here.``Her honesty was something I truly valued, and despite not knowing if she could actually affect change I would listen to her advice and pass it on to William if he didn`t already know.

``I have spoken to my father of stepping down. Of giving up his power.``I stood up from the chair as I no longer saw William through the window and wanted to find out where he was going. As I did she stood up as well and we walked to the door where hearing us move Draco opened the door and followed us as we walked. ``I told him to move on because his people didn`t respect him anymore.`` That was a brave thing for her to say to her father. I knew from my own relationship with my father that when I resisted him I was put into a spell and had my memory wiped, so there were consequences for resisting those above you.

``What did he say to that.`` We reached the end of the corridor and I followed Aria as she led me towards the cathedral sized building that William had entered.

``He doesn`t believe me. He believes that he loved. He thinks the people have forgiven him, and anyone who tried to tell him otherwise he either ignores, or tells himself they are joking. There is no getting through to him I fear.``

``My brother plans to speak to him, and let us hope that has the effect of making him see what the truth is.`` I know that William knew it would be nearly impossible to remove Byron as he was still loyal, and despite his incompetence it would set a horrible presedent and despite hating their lord it would bring anger amongst far too many vassals around the valley and beyond. Power my brother said was precarious, and if he brought down Byron Arryn every single lord, and Lady in the Kingdom would wonder if the tyrant king was coming for them next.

``If anyone can convinse him to do what is right, it is the King.`` We reached the door and were greeted by the handsome Paul Arryn of whom had his wife Lucie Krone on his arm. Both bowed as was expected, and led us into the cathedral with a greeting.

Walking into the giant room I saw William arrayed against a massive group of nobles, with Jasper and Emmett directly around him and Jasper looked absolutely cold hearted seeing William surrounded. Leven walked towards me with the young Sansa Starke, and her new husband Harrold Hardyng. The two would bow before, me along with Leven of whom gave me a quick smile before standing beside me. ``Princess Alice it is a true joy to have you in our remote city. Your family has brightened this land in more ways then I can ever truly appreciate.``

``Hanna was one of our most dear friends growing up, and we wouldn`t have dared miss a chance to see her wed. The city has certainly been turned into quite the jewel since I was last here.`` I had never imagined myself returning to this place, but William couldn`t stay in one place anymore. He was losing himself more and more each day, and unless I could change the path he was on he was going to kill himself trying to see her again. It seemed so long since he was carrying the lifeless body of Amber from the city, and I couldn`t believe he had the strength to return here where so much bad had happened.

``Terrible business Princess. I never met your late brother, but I know that despite what he became in the end he was still your brother, and I`m sorry for your loss.`` I felt bad that I had never met her before. When we had travelled to Stormwind she was in Winterfell, and while I had met nearly all the Starke`s she and her brother Rickon were one of the few I had not had the oppurtinity to meet.

``I appreciate that Lady Sansa you are too kind. My brother did more damage to your husbands people then we can ever repay, and I`m beyond happy to see things becoming positive here.`` She smiled at me, and as she did I noticed how young she was. I had thought she was of similar age to me, but it was clear she was somewhat younger, and from the way she held Harrold`s hand she was very nervous. ``How have you come to like Berne Sansa.``

``It is the same sort of climate as my home in Winterfell, and with Harrold at my side I have been very well taken care of. I will honestly be sad to say goodbye to Berne.`` As she shared a smile with Harrold, I felt out of the loop. Where was she to go that would force her to say goodbye to the city. As if sensing my confusion Leven spoke up.

``The Kingdom will be very proud to have Harrold as the Lord of the new western province. I know that Alice was one of the most strong supporters of your rise Sansa.`` The young Sansa Starke looked shocked, and again I realized how distinct I was from even her scale of nobility. It would never really matter how high up the power tree someone reached, me and my brother were always going to be somewhat seperate from them.

``We decided to name the new city Greengarden, and I promice your grace that we shall turn it into a fortress against our enemies.`` His armor and tone made him seem quite the brave young man, and I wondered if the ruins of the west would claim him, or whether he would prove himself correct.

Chapter 70

Saiden Scarlet is the POV CHaracter of this chapter and during this chapter Saiden leaves the fortress on a small boat alongside his son Taimen where the two are going to meet in the water between Lorderon and Bolten with members of House Cole of whom have reached out to them on their decision to perhaps turn away from the Kingdom of Bolten, and wishing to join the Kingdom of Lucerne once certain diplomacy is met. The arrival of Olivia Wilde a girl he had flirted with heavily while he was invading Fairmarket sends him somewhat into a twister of emotions as she flirts back with him, and tells him that his wife is old and will be unable to help him expand his family anymore. Saiden falls somewhat for this as it was something he had been thinking about even before she had told him that, and the two share a kiss while she tells him that she would give him many children if they were married.

I could hear Ser Dontell tell me that the Lady Wilde was at the door wanting to see me, and a part of me wanted to just tell Ser Dontell to send her away. Send her away and keep me free of this treachery that invaded my mind. She was a temptation that Glaurung had sent to me in an attempt to make me betray Jessica of whos only slight against me was her age.

That was what I should have done. I should have sent her away and wrote a love letter to Jessica but instead I told Ser Dontell to send her in, and turned my chair to meet her coming.

Walking through the tent she was as angelic as the first day I saw her, except now she wasn't covered in the blood of the last people that got in her way. "Milady. What brings you to my quarters?" I knew the anwser but I suppose I wanted to hear it for myself.

"I came for many reasons Milord, but for now I have a question for you."

"You may ask."

"Why did you never call upon me after your time in the Riverlands?"

"What do you mean Lady Wilde?"

"I mean that when you needed help in the Vale, it was I that you called." She took a step forward and I nodded to the chair beside me giving her leave to sit. "When you needed someone to help you, didn't call your wife, or any of the Tully's. You called me, and I guess I want to understand why after that you have never called for me again." I remained unmoving not knowing how to anwser the question. The  truth was the same as it was then. I was drawn to her back then, and I still was now. I forced myself to look back to her face as I scanned down her body, and climbing back up I found her eyes twisted into a smile. "So if that was the reason Milord then you need to fear."

"Fear what?"

"Let us speak honestly Milord." I nodded my head because honestly I didn't know where she would take it. "Your wife is old. She will never be able to give you more children, and you are still young."

"She is still my wife."

"By the rules of a piece of paper, that has long gone as dusty and old as her ability to give you children."

"Even if I agreed with you she is still my wife, and that is something that means something. She is loyal, and she..."

"I'm sure she is the most loyal servent that you could ever ask for, but you see the truth Lord Scarlet. The truth is that you don't love her. How could you love her when she cannot give you the one thing she is meant to always provide for you."

I sat for a moment thinking on what she said. I could hear her continueing to talk, and I knew that she was convinsing me, and that pained me greatly. Jessica was a good person, and this was how I repayed her loyalty to me. Drooling over a younger girl throwing herself at me.

At first the others were so shocked by what he had said that they didn't take it seriously but when he didn't laugh along with them they begin to understand the truth that he in fact wasn't joking. At first no one spoke or even moved but after minutes of silence Jasper got up from the table and begin to become very angry that William would even contemplate something so stupid. Following this he travels northward into the mountains in order to meet with the dragons he believes will help him just like they helped his ancestor William Lovie I. Traveling into the sky he is shocked when he meets with Brooke Scott and the chapter ends with there talking and her eventual beginning of him to continue his work and see her after.
House Lovie
The Rise of Lucerne
I saw the destruction of the world, and knew I had to stop it. There was nothing left to do but become bigger then everyone else. The Empire was never going to be the beacon the world needed it to be. Westros was on fire. The Bretonians had reached for the stars and been burned. And the old shadow of Numeron was fading far too quickly. It was left to us in Lucerne to change the fate of all those who wished to reject darkness. We were the last hope for a world who had long since given up on believing.
She looked just like herself but different in a way. Her spoke to me in a way that said that she was changed in some unspeakable way. "Brooke...how...could this...are you really here?" I didn't know what else to say in that moment. She continued to fly beside me and she looked at me with what seemed like the weight of the world on her shoulders.
"I'm here William. I've never left you, and I never will." She said it but even in her eyes we both knew it wasn't the way it was. This was a dream my mind created in what I must have felt were my final moments. How could this be true. She was dead.
"Its all so impossible without you Brooke...I don't want to fight anymore without you." The world was fighting against me at all sides. It was one thing taking the Riverlands, and dealing with the constant rebellions of that land, but when I took Westbridge it just opened us up to so many enemies. Now at war with the Boltens I just wanted to hold her and feel better.
"You have to William. You don't have a choice you need to fight. You need to fight for what we were." The past tense of it all just burned me. I wanted to change everything and was quickly realizing that the hopes of a child
"But its all so hollow without you here." I saw a tear fall down her cheek, and the moment it did I noticed its red tinge as if it was blood, and the moment it fell her hand recoiled to her cheek and the pegasus begin thrashing about causing her eyes to panic. As he calmed herself the residue of the tear remained on her cheek as she spoke again.
"I'm sorry I had to leave you and I'm sorry I can't stay longer but know that this is what you need to do, and know that I'll be here for you." Her pegasus started to pull away before I could ask her why her tears were blood or why she looked so scared, and my hands seemed unable to move to find the reigns so I yelled to her.
"How will I find you again?" In that moment there were so many things I wanted to yell but that seemed the most prudent.
"Search your mind William and you'll know the place to find me." It seemed after she responded my eyes closed with little control from me, and when I was able to open them she was gone as if she was never there.

Chapter 82

Alice Lovie

Chapter Details

Alice Lovie is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter she is sitting at the table when William brings up the idea of wanting to go and find dragons, and too shocked to even say anything she remains behind at the table even after William kisses her on the forehead and goes to bed. Staying in the room with Leven, Edward, and Emmett the four discuss what they can do going forward to stop this, and Edward shows support to William, Leven is like Edward reluctant to resist something that William wants to do, and Emmett as well agrees and unable to find support in stopping William from those three she goes to her room where she hopes to find Jasper and gain his assistance. After the argument of the Shadow Council Jasper went back to his room with Alice where he begin throwing things around the room which obviously brought about the attention of his fiance Alice Lovie. When Jasper told Alice about what was happening she immediately knew that she was partly to blame for this as she had told him during the trip back that he was as great as William Lovie, and that anything he had done would pale in comparison to what he would eventually be remembered for. Realizing this she immediately left the room with Jasper - who was shocked that Alice had just up and left - and went upstairs to William's room where she walked in on William and Bella in the middle of having sex. Seeing this was the first of what would become a growing problem for Alice as she begin to accept some simple truths in her life that she had never allowed herself to accept before. When Bella had removed herself from William and they were properly clothed she sat down on the edge of the bed and apologized to William for telling him what she had, and she begged him not to go through with the Dragon plan. Bella stood beside him, but she to wanted to know why William would be so absolutely reckless. Bella went through the lists of things that gave them an advantage in any upcoming conflict, and by this point Alice was tearing up but still attempting to help Bella by also saying all the positives of a future conflict with the Empire. William explained to the two of them that the situation was hopeless in the long run unless they did something drastic and he could only think of doing this. He had taken out cities, and annexed half of western Westros but he still was nothing more then a peanut in comparison to the power of the larger Empires in Europe. The three of them argued back and forth for some time and finally Ashley would appear at the door and she had a bad dream, and wanted them to get her a drink. Bella would leave to help Ashley with that, and when she did William reached for Alice and pulled her into a hug and whispered to her the words that force her to take his side of the coming debate. With the words said by William there was a sense of understanding between the siblings and she would help him to convince Bella of the reasoning's behind the decision, and despite wanting to believe that her husband could succeed where it seemed no one could Bella was not willing to accept his death and refused to agree but would support him. Bella would return carrying a sleeping Ashley of whom they laid in their bed, and then went out to the balcony. The three of them would talk, and this time Alice now supported him, and after basically being double teamed for many minutes William went inside to check on Ashley and Bella and Alice spoke, and Bella wondered what he could have said to her to make her agree to this. Alice refused to tell the truth, and instead simply made excuses for William and Bella left frustrated. Alice is at the top of the Sky Tower as William leaves the city and giving her a kiss on the forehead they part and Alice watches as William flies into the mountains and horrified that he may die but she is unable to truly break down as she has to host the Targaryans and she does this giving Deneyres Targaryan a tour of the city of Lucerne and she gets along well with Deneyres.
