After this long conversation Derek's squire Vantel Gorlint arrives and tells them that Riverrun is in site, and after talking some more the two go back on deck and watch as the boat reaches Riverrun alongside dozens of ither ships carrying his forces of whom number nearly a thousand. Outside of these forces the main company he has brought for his command are his three best friends Dol-Edraithan Malfind, Dol-Gwathon Lumben, and Is-Livia Lumben of whom Edraithan and Gwathon are both noble boys from Lorderon of whom allow him to gain a level of respectability over the Atlantian forces he commands, while Livia is his closest friend and is a member of the Kirin Tor. Jamie leads his forces north from Riverrun where during this time he is overwhelmed by the memory of a girl he calls Tamsin and it is in this sadness that his forces arrive at the camp of the Lucernian forces and leaving the force under the command of Edraithan he and Gwathon travel into the camp with a small force where they go to meet with his brother William Lovie III. Marching north with the Lucernian army Jamie joins William as the dusk settled on the skies above the army William Lovie gave the order to begin moving to attacking positions, and then quickly had his messengers alert the other sections of the attack by Magi Stone's that the attack was now moving forward. The siege machines were pushed forward in case the siege didn't work according to plan and they were forced to bash their way through while at the same time the hundreds of ladders, and dozens of siege towers were silently pushed forward as well by dozens of oxen. The siege towers were the main thing that might be noticed and thus they were covered with trees and it was hoped that the darkness and the lack of real defenders on the walls would allow the towers to get nearly to the walls before noticed. As the army pushed forward it was the Griffins of House Griffon and the Order of the Red Dragon that first hit the defenders as hundreds of Griffin Riders landed in the towers and within the keep of the southern gate and made a mess of the defenders. Leading his forces Jamie and the other members of the main force had reached the gate Clarke Greymane, and Garrett Elbertson had placed the flag of Lucerne on the largest tower, and the front gate was being opened by other Griffin Riders. The chapter ends as they make their way to the great bridge which leads to the main island of Westbridge and as they wait for the flag of the rebels to rise over the bridge it is Jasper that tells Jamie to remain here and hold the southern fortress, and Jamie quickly sends word to his commanders and they begin manning the fortress for any kind of counter assault that might happen.
