Marius Scott
Chapter Details
Marius Scott is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he is sitting with Matilda whose head is leaning on his shoulder as they watch their young daughter Elena playing with his niece Astrid. As they sit enjoying a beautiful day its (several prominent nobles) that arrive to bring him to see his grandfather. Going with them he leaves Matilda handmaids in charge of Elena and brings his wife with him to her great happiness. Meeting with his grandfather he learns that the death of Dorin Crane to Swabian nationalists has not been handled well and that the Cranes have now occupied the major town of Skorraholt and have been dealing with the Swabian brutally which has led to reprisals from Low Swabia against them. Marius requests to be sent there to end the conflict and his grandfather agrees sending Reimer Brekfold, and Ottfried Leiblin with him alongside several hundred troops from House Scott, and the Brekfolds, and Leiblins. Marius requests and successfully convinces his grandfather that Matilda is to come with him, and the decision is made add another hundred men at arms due to her participation. Marius leaves Tree Hill by boat, and joined by Matilda, and several of his close friends they make the journey knowing the importance of what happens once they arrive. Arriving at Lake Swabia they are met by several ships carrying the banner of House Klausburg and as they bring their boats together, they meet with Vogtmeister Casper Daushburg who tells them that his squadron has been commanded to blockade the southern end of the Swab River as a part of a blockade against Low Swabia. Marius not wanting to override the Cranes before he can speak to them doesn’t overrule Lord Crane and allows the blockade to continue and thus leaves Casper in place while he continues towards Crane Castle. Arriving at Crane Castle they find several ships including a large Galley sitting in the harbor and Matilda remarks how the feeling of war is very high. Matilda and Marius talk together with Reimer, and Ottfried and they all discuss that they need to ratchet down the conflict as quickly as possible. They are met on the dock by Ordenmarshal Grimwald Vortinlane, and Burgomaster Wilhard Shutenlane who tell them that Lord Dustin Crane has already left with the main army for Skorraholt where he intended on occupying the city. Returning to their boats without staying in Crane Castle they make there way westward now heading towards Skorraholt. Matilda warns Marius that based on the words of Grimwald they may be too late to stop Dustin from violence. Following their discussions with Dustin Crane its Marius, and Matilda that board two of their ships and head towards Kolavik to meet with House Heldven and hopefully bring them back to Skorraholt. Following the successful meeting with House Heldven they board their ships with House Heldven now given permission to lead several of their ships out of the blockaded port through the Crane blockade. Arriving back at Skorraholt they land at the port and Marius is forced to use his forces to separate the Swabians from the Cranes as Dustin is on the dock waiting and attempts violence. As Marius is unable to stop it from escalating the two sides are near coming to blows when Matilda steps between Theoderic Weitlest, and Adelhard Krundwelter and her voice stops the two groups from fighting. The chapter ends with Matilda, and Marius arriving back in Tree Hill where Marius accompanies his heavily pregnant wife to the Basilica of Tree Hill where she will be taken care of for the final days of her pregnancy.

“Are you sure there is no way for you to come with me into the Basilica?” “The Cardinal would not allow it my love.” She huffed at my response. “Your god is not a fan of love?” She looked up at me with a playful smile. I could have joked back, but it felt like a moment to try and explain Christ to her. What it meant to me. “God wants only what is best for us. His plan can seem cruel at times, but he always loves us.” “Your god loves you. I don’t know that he loves your dragon loving wife.” |

Chapter 17
Ezio Ederiz
Chapter Details
Ezio Ederiz is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he is watching as William leaves for the lands of Turnendorf and standing beside Carlisle Cullen the two discuss the next steps for Ezio. Carlisle tells Ezio that he will be travelling alongside princess Alice Lovie as she journeys back to Pomeria. While he is guarding the princess on this journey, he is also going to deliver a letter to House Yernese. Once they have arrived at Pomeria and he has confirmed the letter has been given to Caeparia Macrinus the daughter of Lord Aldo Yernese he will then attempt to contact an assassin in Pomeria named Ysabel Foucault who will take over for him in protecting Alice. Once this has taken place, he will then head directly to Turnendorf and assist William in anything that does come up for him. As he is leaving its Ezio that Is stopped by Dallia Lovie who asks to speak with him privately. Agreeing to this he commands Catherine to prepare their things to go with Alice southward which she does with a nod leaving Ezio to follow Dallia. Dallia takes him to the market where they go through a stall passing the owner with a nod and go into the shop behind. Entering the room, he finds several prominent nobles waiting inside and while he recognizes several its Catherine Lovie that gains the focus of his attention. Inside the room he is asked by Catherine and the others to kill Ysabel instead of handing over ownership of Alice to her, and then to hand over protection to Gudrun Ganzfried. Seeing this as an obvious move against Carlisle he demands to know why he would do this, and Catherine takes a risk by telling Ezio the truth of what Ysabel’s true purpose is which is to not protect Alice but to instead kill her. Ezio agrees to find out the truth of what Ysabel’s purpose is and only if murder is her purpose will Ezio stop her. The group agrees and not wanting to be discovered they tell him to go on his way but as he leaves Catherine forces him to promise that he will do what he can to protect Alice. Arriving at Pomeria its Ezio that leaves Alice with Godfrey, and Dankrad of whom by this point he trusts are loyal to Catherine and will protect Alice while he deals with Ysabel. Ezio and Catherine make their way to the meeting point, and once there an armored girl is waiting for them, and they follow her inside the abandoned building she was waiting outside. The chapter ends with Ezio stepping through the portal and entering the Tower of Tuhrendlor which is near Turnendorf. Arriving well ahead of prince William Lovie III. he plans on meeting with the Circle leadership at the tower and getting a read on what the prince will be walking into when he arrives.

“What do you want to know. I will tell you what you want. Do not hurt him.” “You said you were the kings man.” “Yes.” “The king has sanctioned what you men are doing?” “They sent us boats full of gold. They set up the meetings. Yes, they sanctioned this.” “To what end?” “We take control. We aren’t aligned to the Swans.” “So, it’s just more of the fight against the Swans.” “You would have to ask them their motivations.” “There anything else?” “We attack the Swan loyalists. It weakens them. What more is there?” As he spoke, I nodded at Redrick to place the dagger closer to Astric’s neck. “Stop!” “Then tell me what else they want of you. It isn’t this simple.” “Fine. I tell you the last of it, and you let Astric go?” “You tell me the rest of it. I will leave. Astric will not be harmed.” “Fine. We are to make a trip to Castle Hosidius during our next stage of attacks.” “Why Castle Hosidius?” “The princess is there. We are to take her out.” “Is she kidnapped?” “No. We are to kill her.” “Are you Paulus Yernese?” He was a tiny man. Clad in armor that seemed built for the man his father had hoped he would become. “I am. Who is asking good sir?” He moved closer to his knight, and his hand moved towards his scabbard. Good. At least the boy had some sense in his head. “You may not know me Paulus. I am Leofrich Nune the third of his name. I was once of Nunendorf.” “I know of what occurred at Nunendorf. Traitors were you not?” “Think of me what you will. In time all truth comes out. What I am here to tell you is that you are a single choice away from becoming a monster.” The big knight stepped forward. “Careful how you speak to my lord, sir.” “I do not mean to insult him.” I held my hands up. Paulus put his hand on the knight’s shoulder and the man stepped back into line. “Speak what you have come to say.” Paulus was nervous. A boy this young. He may have never been in a confrontation like this before. Surrounded by armed men. Inside safe walls. He didn’t know conflict. “You have brought the princess Alice Lovie to Castle Hosidius. Are you aware of what the outcome of her coming here is to be?” Now was my time to put my hand to my swords pommel. His men and him clearly noticed as the big knight pulled his sword from his scabbard and aimed it in my direction. “What of the princess have you heard Leofrich?” His voice was shaking. The look of shame crossed his eyes as she spoke. “What I hear does make me think good things about you Paulus.” “What is your interest in the princess?” “Same as what yours should be. I wish to keep her safe.” “As do I.” “Then explain why you brought her here to die.” |

“You should be exploring every feeling that you have my prince.” “Glaurung himself said that while life has many meanings to it. One of the main is to find happiness. To find joy. To feel love. How better to feel all those things then to let yourself go.” “How do I do that Ar-Brentey?” She smiled at me before sliding herself closer to me. Her hips rested up against me, and her hand moved onto my chest. “Shall I help you?” As her hands ran down my arm and towards my waist, I couldn’t find the words. I just nodded. |
Chapter 21
Marius Scott
Chapter Details
Marius Scott is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he is sitting holding his baby while Matilda who is once again pregnant is preparing her clothes alongside Wilhelma, and Amala for a feast they are attending that night. Odothus Schmild, and grobspitter Willibald Delgild would ask to speak with him through the arrival of Marius’s squire and going to them he learned that Oakheart had requested aid as they had come under full assault from the Swabians. Hugging Matilda and then Elena goodbye he mounts his horse and rides towards the gate alongside Alke, and Gretchen. Reaching the gate he sees Reginald, and Cuthwin preparing the men to leave. Marius gives the men a speech and then leads them to the boats. Marius’s boats arrive at the edge of Klausburg before the rest of the fleet, and as he and Alke look out at the city growing before them they are confused to see the bridges are down. As they get closer a boat pushes off from the Klausburg dock and moves towards them. Meeting with the boat captain they are told that the Klausburg bridges were sabotaged and cannot be raised as of now and will take weeks to repair. Landing their fleet on the north shore they unload the army from the boats, and not waiting for the main fleet to come to shore they begin after only a quick unloading and preparation to begin a fast march towards Brakehart Hold. Arriving east of Brakeheart Hold they begin to encounter the first of the Swabians and while these are clearly a vanguard its Marius that pulls his forces in to a concentrated force and moves methodically down the road towards Brakeheart. Marius and his force are flagged down by villagers from the upcoming Brakeheartnet who warn them that Swabian forces have taken the village and are in the process of sacking the village. Marius sends scouts into the forest delaying the attack, but the scouts come back with no sighting of an ambush and so Marius moves his force into Brakeheartnet. Attacking the preoccupied Swabians causes them to end the sack and begin retreating from the village, but the cavalry force of Marius rides many of them down as they flee into the forest. While many escape most are either killed or captured among the attacking Swabians, and it takes several hours to bring all those captured back into the village as well as keep the surviving villager’s calm. The Frelherr of the village was killed during the sack which leaves his surviving heir Wigmar Moldenheart III. and his wife Roswitha to lead the villagers, and they agree to watch over the prisoners, but Marius forces him to promise him not to kill them.Among those captured during this attack is the Swabian Glodenmarshal Mombert Medven II. of whom they pack into one of the baggage trains as they continue moving west. Travelling still west they don’t encounter anymore Swabians but do find the aftermath of killings on the road as the Swabians seem to have killed anyone they could find as they moved towards Brakheartnet. As they continue this slog westward its Marius that joins the interrogation of Mombert, but despite the skill of the torturer Conrad of Prennigist its Mombert that won’t tell them about the strategy or size of the attacking Swabian forces. Reaching Brakehearthet they find the village in ruins but as they enter, they are met by the surviving villagers who say that most of the villagers were rounded up and taken back in the direction of Low Swabia. Speaking with Frelherr Trent Oldenheart they learn that this attack against Brakehaerthet didn’t kill anyone in the village, but they did take anything of value and then as the villagers were under the belief, they would escape this attack it was the Swabians that demanded all the young, and breeding age women. This caused a fight where several villagers were killed but in the end the girls were taken, and the Swabians then demanded the villagers leave the village and they then occupied it. Trent had led them into the forest where they travelled to Brakehearthit and gathered the forces they now have to retake the village, but by the time they returned the Swabians had left. Marius learns from Trent that the Swabians main attack is aimed not at Brakeheart Hold but Oakheart, and learning this its Marius that leaves a handful of men under the command of Dietrich Nessler to assist the villagers in preparing to join the next wave in moving towards Brakheart. With this done its Marius that changes his direction and begins travelling northwest towards Oakheart. Arriving at the village of Oakhearthet they find the village is still under siege as due to its size and wealth it has a curtain wall around the inner area of the village. As they prepare to attack the Swabian forces its Iris Meldven the wife of Mombert that asks to speak with Marius. Iris makes a deal with Marius that in return for sparing her brother who will be among the Swabians its Iris that will inform and force Mombert to also reveal secrets of the Swabian attack. Agreeing to this its Marius that has his forces surround the Swabian force and then once they have surrounded them its Iris that goes forward and negotiates the Swabians surrender. Following the surrender and the end of the siege its Marius that meets with Frelherr Diethard Weideman to discuss their next move. The chapter ends with Marius having taken control of the Tower of Goldfarb and rising himself to the top of the tower he helps Cuthwin, and several men at arms as they pull down the flag of the Swabians and then as the men put up the Oakheart flag he uses his telescope to look towards the gate into Upper Oakheart and sees Lucas Oakheart meeting with a Swabian and hopes that Lucas sees whats happened before he surrenders.

Chapter 22
Brooke Scott
Chapter Details
Brooke Scott is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter she is leaning on the balcony overlooking the court of Castle Hackenholt and watching Oliver Hackenholt III. preside over groups of nobles looking to meet with him. One of the final people looking for an audience is a man she recognizes by his Guntbold sigil as a knight of House Guntbold. The man steps forward and hands Hochmeister Tristan Seckenholt a letter before leaving and seeing the looks shared between the group leads Brooke to have a nervous feeling. Brook has Peyton follow Tristan to find out where the letter goes, and she does this without question, but they are forced to keep Theodora out of the loop. Peyton returns minutes later and tells Brooke that the letter was placed in Oliver’s office, and with the meeting still ongoing its Brooke that has Peyton distract Theodora while she and Haley go to Oliver’s office with the idea of breaking inside. Arriving at the office they are met with disappointment to find the office is guarded by two Hackenholt knights and thus they plan to return later. The night comes and Brooke, Haley, and Peyton all sneak back through the keeps tower and make their way to Oliver’s office behind the court room. This time there is only one guard and it’s the impressionable Winston Astronholt II. of whom they have Peyton go and distract. The girls using the distraction can get inside the office and searching around the room they eventually find the letter. As they begin to plan to read it, they hear Peyton’s warning them. Hiding inside a closet in the office they watch as Oliver the elder, Oliver the young, Beatrice come into the office. The Hackenholt’s are followed behind by a visibly pregnant Matilda Lovie. Joining with Matilda are two members of her Malatine in Amala Typhon, and Wilhelma Waldenbint and the group begins talking about what Brooke comes to understand is declaration of rebellion by three different areas in the form of Low Swabia, Arennis, and Meindl. Brooke and Haley sneak out of the closet and get out of the office without being noticed and make their way back to their rooms. Reaching the entrance to their rooms its Matilda’s Trenmeister Aswolf Brotecht who is sitting inside their room. Laughing at the girls for being caught so clearly sneaking around he takes Brooke to see Matilda. Meeting with Matilda she tells Brooke that she is travelling to Arennis Hold to attempt to stop the conflict there. Brooke convinces Matilda to take her with them, and with this agreement in place its Brooke that leaves to gather her Malatine and prepare for the move northward. Arriving at Arrenis Hold the boat docks them in the dockyard where they are met by a large group of Arrenis men. Led by Rhaella Arennis they are led to the citadel of Arennis Hold, and while making this move its Rhaella that attempts to prepare them by telling them about the Arennis side of things. Brooke leaves on a boat from Arennis Hold heading towards Castle Meindl where she plans to beat her father Daniel to the castle and give the letter written by Matilda to Lord Meindl. The chapter ends with Brooke arriving at Meindl Hold and as they approach the port, she sees the unmistakable flag of her father flying over a boat sitting in the harbor and looking and Haley and Payton she knows that she was too late.

“Your father has been reported to have left Bakervale. “I wish we had more time. I wish I could explain all this. Please just know that I love you, and that I am truly sorry.” I reached for him, but he pulled away and smacked the horse. In response to this slap the horse begin riding with the rest of the group away from the gate. I tried to look back and catch a glimpse of him. I wanted to scream that I loved him too. Wanted to turn the horse around and jump into his arms. Instead, I watched as he moved towards the gatehouse. His form growing smaller and smaller with each passing second. “People don’t remember him like he was.” “He was such a kind man.” “Did you ever hear the story of what happened when he got back to Lucerne?” “I had reached the capital before him. Nunendorf was so close to the capital I had ridden with a small group of my men and gotten there a few days before he did.” “The army was broken. I had seen it leave. Tens of thousands of men strong. Now there were a few hundred. I felt tears well up in my eyes.” “No not out of sadness. I felt hope. I looked at your father and I felt hopeful. He walked up the line of nobles standing at attention, and he hugged each of us. We must have been there the whole day. Just your father hugging and comforting us as we all came to realization that we had lost something. I had lost a brother. The man beside me had lost his son. Everyone was overcome with the moment. But your father. He comforted us all. I had never felt such leadership in my entire life.” |

“What have you heard about the situation on the mainland?” The Deacon Marwin sat back in his chair sipping on wine as I sat down in the chair offered to me. He appeared withdrawn. He appeared bored by my arrival. “I was told to come here and prepare the land as much as possible for the arrival of the prince. I would say basically nothing.” It was the truth. I knew that a cult had taken root again in the land, but as the actual on the ground situation I knew nothing. “Its not good Lord Ederiz. The entire mainland outside of the capital has basically fallen to the cult. The cult took control of the town of Klorindorf much to the shame of my young second here.” He nodded with disappointment at Ursella who scowled at him in response. “To this fall the baron did nothing.” “Has he acted since?” “He remains locked up in his keep. His yes men are now in charge of the city.” He laughed as he spoke the words. Leading to Ursella speaking up. “We heard Lord Ederiz that the Baron has imprisoned his sons for attempting to take a more active role in resisting the cult.” Marwin looked away towards the painting on the wall appearing overjoyed that Ursella had taken over speaking to me. “Do you believe that the Baron is in league with the cult?” I spoke now to Ursella who pulled out a large scroll and laid it across the table. “He’s in league with no one but his own cowardice Lord Ederiz.” She showed me each settlement across the province. Each one crossed off indicating their fall to the cult. “It sounds as if I must pay a visit to the Baron then.” “I would argue against this being your first move.” Marwin got up from his chair as she spoke, and he moved closer to the painting he was so enamored by. “Where would you argue I go?” Her hand instantly pointed to the map. “Rosler Castle is the seat of House Rosler, and it remains the only true powerbase outside of the capital outside of the cult’s hands. A meeting is being held there very soon. If things go badly during this meeting the prince may arrive to find his route blocked. The Rosler’s control most of the ships of the province.” “So, if they turn the prince will be blocked in his movements.” “Correct. I would say that making sure the Rosler’s don’t join the cult is your main concern.” “I agree with this.” She pulled the scroll together and packed it back into her bag while Marwin continued staring at the painting.” I will leave immediately.” “We wish you luck on your trip.” He didn’t even turn towards me as he spoke the words. “What assistance may you provide my party with Deacon?” “I will supply you with a boat. More then this I cannot offer.” “I have the seal of the king Deacon. Surely you will provide me with more than this token offering.” “I will not. I am tasked with the protection of this tower. This tower is vital to the defense of this area. Only a directive from the king himself would make me intervene in the province.” “This seal is his directive.” “That seal grants you access. Access is not authority. I entertained your presence here. Consider anything further as a gesture of kindness.” The deacon “Deacon perhaps a compromise could be reached with Lord Ederiz here.” Ursella stepped in as the Deacon begin walking out of the room. “What do you suggest my loyal second?” --- “The cult took her sister when they took control of Klorindorf. She was the wife of Estmar Turnidlon.” “He was imprisoned by the baron?” “If the rumors are true. It sounds as if he demanded command of the army to retake control of Klorindorf and get his wife back. His father disagreed.” “Do we know why he has acted this way? It would appear to me to be the acts of a man siding with the cult.” “He lost a lot in the previous cults uprising.” |

“When we arrive at Reigstrad you will need to pick one of the girls to be your escort. This girl will be on your arm the entire day. She will be the one that people see you with. Do you understand what this choice will imply to the others.” “That I am leaning towards picking her.” “This is correct. We have reached that stage of this.” “What do you believe is the right course of action aunt?” “It is not my place to make suggestions to you. I am here to place you in the situation to make that choice.” “I believe your heart knows what it wants cousin.” Emma interrupted Dallia eliciting a brief scowl from her. “Do you now?” “Yes. Several of the girls may have your attention but which one makes your heart flutter. Which one can you not wait to see again when they are away.” I had not the heart to tell her that when I really pondered on that it might not have been one of the girls present. Rosalie was never far from my thoughts. Even now after being intimate with Ar-Brentey I thought on her. “You have a lot of faith in my ability to know my heart dear cousin.” |

“They have sent Tristan to Laakstrad.” I knew Laakstrad was in the Dragon’s Valley, but I couldn’t place it in my mind. “The slave hub of the Dragon’s Valley.” “We knew they would make their move for him at some point.” “Why would they send Tristan there?” “He is being punished. What he has done this time I do not know. I couldn’t get anyone to tell me the truth of it. What I know is that they are making their move to have Tristan turned to their side of things.” If Catherine couldn’t get the truth of things, then the resistance to her must be growing. “What shall you do?” Albert spoke with a hushed tone that was unusual for him. “I cannot allow this to happen to my nephew.” She paused after saying it staring at the map on the table. “I promised my brother. I promised Lisa. I have made too many promises to allow this to happen to Tristan.” Once again, she paused staring down at the map. Watching the respect that she had to be able to just pause and think things through in a room of men who had little experience in listening to women was a sight to behold. --- “This is you making a choice Alice. Once you do this. There is no going back.” “I trusted them and what did that get me. My supposed future husband nearly leading me to my death.” --- “What brings you here Alice?” “Do I need a reason to come home?” “Your brother is not here. Your sister is down south with those traitors.” What did he mean by traitors.” You have never shown me any love.” “That’s not true father.” “Did you come back to blame me for your mothers’ condition!” “What are you…” “You deny it now. You had no problem screaming it at me the last time we spoke.” “Father what are you…” He slammed his fists on the desk stopping me in my tracks. “I grow tired of these games. I shall retire to my room.” “Father…” As he went to get up though he shook violently in his chair, and both his arms went to the table for support. I heard myself let out a gasp, and the (find the women) grabbed onto his shoulders to steady him, while (the Circle Man) went into his bag searching it for something. “What is happening to him.” I felt someone come behind me and pull me into them and away from my father, and despite my attempts to resist the figure would not be resisted and they pulled me towards the wall. As I reached the wall my father’s hand flew into the air knocking (the women) to the ground and his entire body appeared to change. He stood up straight and a crooked smile went across his face. This new smile spreading across his face scanned the room until his eyes found mine, and he begin walking towards me. (The women) attempted to slow him, but he pushed her off him, while (the guard who pulled her) attempted to summon the lift, but it was on a lower level and didn’t react. (The guard) stood between us, and my father raised his hands towards him. He waved his arms in front of him chanting something to himself. I watched the runes on (the guard) armor glow and realized that my father was using Magi against him. “Enough of this!” My father screamed it out. Everyone stopped there movements completely as the words bellowed out. “You came back here for nothing little girl.” “Father why are you acting this way?” “You are the reason you brat!” He screamed out again. Getting closer, but sort of circling around the side of (the guard) who continued to block his path. “I know your working with them. You’re trying to help them kill me aren’t you!” “I’m your daughter.” “I don’t know about that. Look at this little whore. She doesn’t look like Matilda. Doesn’t take after Sunhilda. No. No. No. I think you are someone else’s child.” |

Chapter 54
Edward Cullen
Chapter Details
Edward Cullen is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter with the city of Hogwarts in chaos following the Tri-wizard tournament its Hilary, and Edward that can get out of the city without being stopped making their way out of Hogwarts. They made their way to Fudsatan where the Kirin Tor contingent had retreated to following the destruction of the Portal Network of Hogwarts. Arriving at Fadustan they found the city was crowded as thousands were fleeing into the city from the area trying to escape the roving bands of Death Eaters recruiting and terrorizing the landscape. The Kirin Tor contingent was outside the city in a small camp where they were working to summon the Magical portal that would take them back to Kirin Tor and entering their camp it was Cerin Menathil that greeted them. Cerin agreed that she would take them with her back to Kirin Tor to assist them in returning home, and with this Hilary and Edward went about helping them summon the portal. As they finished summoning the portal it was the Death Eater Cyprus Nightshade that arrived with a group of soldiers from House Nightshade. Cyprus offered the Kirin Tor great treasure and reward if they assisted the Deatheaters in fighting with them in the now expanding civil war. It was Medivh Flowers that would reject this offer sending Cyprus and his soldiers away, and when Cerin asked him why he rejected the offer it was Medivh that told her that you never made deals with demons. The portal was eventually completed, and the group all went through the portal returning to Kirin Tor. Arriving at Kirin Tor the two were amazed at the scope of the city, and despite wanting to stay in Kirin Tor and see what the fortress had to offer they both knew they needed to go home, and thus said goodbye to Cerin and left for Lucerne. Using their Magi abilities, they would fly towards Lucerne using a Kirin Tor flying wagon travelling from Kirin Tor towards Lucerne. Flying through the day and night the pair would sleep in the wagon as they travelled with wagon travelling automatically to the marker the pair had made north of Brill. Most of the trip the pair is silent as Hilary is deep in reading while Edward is overcome with the trauma of what happened to him in the graveyard. Edward and Hilary stop in Brill first where they meet with Hilary's family of whom have not seen her for many months, and Edward watches as the Swift family is overjoyed to see them. Spending several weeks in Brill its Edward that wants badly to return home but knows that Hilary needs this time with her family and thus doesn’t rush her. During this time its Edward that gets to know Hilary’s sister Taylor Swift of whom has many questions about William, and Edward believing that Taylor is just crushing on the prince tells Taylor things about William which allow Taylor to form an even more close connection with William within the Fade. After two weeks at Brill, they leave Hilary’s family in a tearful goodbye and make their way once more by the wagon to the city of Gulltown where Hilary’s father has arranged for them to travel to Lucerne with House Shephard. The two arrive in Gulltown where they are greeted by several members of House Shephard of whom will be accompanying Edward and Hilary to Lucerne where a member of their family will be going to the school. Moving northward travelling by boat down the Kilgor River, and then moving to the Great Royce River it was the group that made quick movement towards Nortbug where they would then travel by carriage to Lucerne. Edward, Hilary and Claire Shephard arrive at Nortburg and while Claire is greeted by several members of House Shephard and friends at the gates no one is waiting for Edward outside the gates which shocks him and brings about the first pangs of fear about his position returning to Lucerne. Saying goodbye to Claire it is Edward and Hilary that make their way now from Nortburg to Lucerne and arriving at the city they are met by a large shanty town located just off the road. Shocked at so many people homeless Edward is made even more confused when inside the city through the massive tunnel of Lucerne and moving inside the city he can't help but notice it appears more worn down then when he left, and the number of homeless people have gone up immeasurably from when he had left. Traveling to the Lucerne Hold he is once again shocked when he sees the Gate to Lucerne Hold has turned into a fortress and going to the guard there, he is unable to get inside Lucerne Hold as he doesn't have papers proving his residency but is able to convince a guard who he is and the guard leaves to get his father. Sitting together on the ground across from the Lucerne Hold gatehouse Hilary tries to console Edward of whom is coming to quickly understand that things had changed for him, and after an hour his father arrives with several men at arms and Floronius Sentius of whom Edward remembers fondly as a man that raised him far more then Carlisle ever did. Carlisle, and Floronius can get Edward and Hilary through the gate and take them back to the Cullen Estate as despite Edward wanting to see his friends its Carlisle his father who tells them that won't be possible tonight. Arriving home he finds Blake Cullen his twin sister waiting for him, and while at first she appears kind and gentle once Hilary is taken to her room to go to sleep Blake takes Edward outside to the gardens and slaps him the face before the two argue as it is clear that she has a lot of bitterness towards him, and as their argument continues she begins lashing out describing all the cruel feelings of his former best friends and eventually overcome with sadness over what his sister says to him he retreats to his room where he hides himself under the bed. Hiding there he begins crying while realizing that his entire life may have fallen apart and makes a wish for the night that things will get better for him tomorrow. The next morning Edward gets up before his sister can say anything to him and accompanied by Floronius and another man at arm of House Cullen. Edward is alarmed by this, but Floronius tells him that he cannot go out alone right now with the recent riots in Lucerne Proper. The group makes their way towards the Cloud Tower where he is excited but also very nervous to meet his friends again. While walking he and Floronius discuss the riots with Edward learning the situation is as dire as it looked when he entered the city yesterday but when Florononius is pressed on what has caused all this change he gets silent, and Edward doesn't push him. Arriving at the entrance to the Sky Towers Edward once again sees signs of the times as the once lightly guarded walls of the Sky Towers have doubled in height and the number of guards is remarkable. Going to the gate guard he suddenly realizes he is going to struggle to get in without anyone remembering him, but this fear is misplaced when he is recognized by Draco Highmore and brought inside the gates. Edward doesn't have any time to prepare as he finds William, Jasper, Leven, Dylan, and Emmett playing Dopelkaf a card game. The chapter ends with Edward swimming out of the water, and looking for Hostella and Byron he doesn't find either which confuses him but he assumes they went to go and get a drink or food and he sits down and picks up the book that Hostella was reading. His reading is interupted by William and the Shadow council arriving with Byron among them and seeing Byron without
