Chapter Details

Lornax is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter she is flying towards Celes Pinnacle accompanied by her Consorts Telarnax, and Galortinax. Upon reaching Celes Pinnacle she and Telarnax discuss how much the nest has expanded since the last time she was here. While Telarnax and Galortinax fly to the lower level its Lornax that flies directly into the peak where she sees several other Dovah already present. The meeting begins with the arrival of Septemax who was the final Dovah that had said she would come. The group discusses the increasing desperate situation of the White Dovah with the fall of Estrilon, and Halicrox Peak in only the last few years. Oltimax the Dovah who once ruled over Halicrox Peak speaks about the disregard that she was met with when she sought out assistance from Porilenax. The group concludes that while they can agree to help each other this will only delay what they all see as the end of their people. Lornax puts forward the idea of attempting to reignite the relationship that once existed with the Kingdom of Lucerne and thus gain their assistance in pushing back the Harpy, and Goblin threats to them. Following an emotional debate where many put forward their bitterness towards the humans for their current status its Lornax that is supported by her daughter Vlarenix as well as to the surprise of all Flarnax. With Flarnax supporting her plan it becomes the agreed-on plot, and they all begin plans to move specifically after individual targets. Lornax leaves Celes Pinnacle heading back towards her home at Aeradrift Peak and her mission of infiltrating the Greybeards. The prologue ends with Lornax taking flight joined by Telarnax, Galortinax, but also now joined by Oltimax and several of her surviving Davah.

Chapter 1

POV Character : William Lovie III.

William Lovie III. is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he is traveling on the road making his way alongside most of his friends and family to the town of Gulltown as well as a large army. Traveling on the road with him is his best Jasper Hale, Lyanna Starke, Edward Cullen, Byron Arryn II., Dylan Steinmare, Aria Arryn, Rachel Nighting, and Leven Martell as well his sister Alice Lovie, and as they travel on the road the relationship between this group is expanded on. During this journey we see the members of William's personal guards as well in the form of Einhard Rosler, Erik Fahnrich, and Gilbert Fouline of whom Einhard is shown as someone who is very close to William acting as a stand in for his father James who is in the convoy but is inside a covered wagon as he passed out. His father is revealed as the King but is also revealed as an addict of opium leaving William to be raised by his guards, but also by his sister Matilda who they are traveling to see the wedding of. The party arrives at Nortburg at night and thus it is the army and the servants that prepare tents for everyone to sleep in that night in preparation for leaving on the boats in the morning. As William and his friends attempt to all stay in one large tent it’s Carlisle Cullen that forces them to share two tents with the boys in one and the girls in another. As this is happening its Rosalie that whispers for William to hide her. Feeling very attracted to her he hides her with the help of Jasper and Dylan. The group stops at the town of Runburgh where William, Edward, Jasper, and Dylan are gifted a suit of armor by Lord Yohn Royce, and the Grand Master of the two Runestone Guilds. The suit made for William is described as something above anything they have ever crafted before, and behind the scenes it had runes crafted on it that make William immune to the effects of Magi while wearing it. Following being given this gift its William, Alice, Leven, and Edward that are taken into the Great Peak of Runestone where Grand Master Eadwig Schuhbeck, and Grand Master Daniel Schunemann show them the entrance to the forges of the Inner Rune which have never been entered by anyone outside of the Inner Circle of the Runestone Guilds. Following this tour, the group is given lodgings inside the mid-level of Runestone leaving the eight of them to all stay in a large open-air room where they can see out for miles and going to sleep William lays beside his sister to one side, and Rosalie Hale to the other with the two talking romantically for some time before going to sleep. As they leave Runestone its William that speaks once more with Yohn Royce who asks him to take with him his middle son Andar Royce who would accompany them and take in the wedding. William agreed and Andar joined the group as they made their way south towards Gulltown. Arriving at Gulltown they are met at the gates by Matilda Lovie his elder sister and seeing each other they hug as she takes them towards her lodgings at Castle Shephard, and while walking there its Matilda that tells them about how she has been in the months since she left Lucerne for Gulltown to get to know her betrothed Marius Scott. Marius Scott is introduced to William, and Alice for the first time and William has a good feeling about Marius during this conversation. The good times are interrupted by the arrival of their father James who William can clearly tell is high from his opioids as he comes into the room, and despite William feeling embarrassed by his father its Marius that lightens the mood and appears to get along well with James. Following the meeting with his sister and Marius its William and his friends that go to the Temple of Kyne as Lyanna wants to pray and forces the rest of her friends to go with her as is her usual way. Arriving at the Temple of Kyne they enter the Temple being let into a special area of the Temple by Otwin Erdenstoud the Bishop of the Temple. Going inside they pray for a time before William and the group outside of Lyanna leave the temple to go and walk the streets of Gulltown exploring. Walking the streets, they go to the market where they buy food and plan to go to hiking west of Gulltown and have a picnic while doing this. Accompanied by a dozen men at arms and several knights the group leaves Gulltown heading west and while leaving they meet the Crane group arriving at the city led by Dustin Crane, and his Orival Crane. Speaking with the group for a time its Girmira Craenwel that leaves the Crane force and travels with them hiking on the idea of forming an alliance for the coming melee tournament. Germira and Jasper get close during the hike but for William his mind is constantly on Rosalie and the spend most of the hike talking and becoming increasingly flirtatious. As the group sits for the picnic its Rosalie and William that sneak off and sitting together the flirtation goes to the next level when William and Rosalie kiss. The arrival of Draco Highmore and several guards bringing them back to the group ends this kissing but this has opened a door between the two of them. The groups picnic is further interrupted by the arrival of a group of peasants who are attempting to reach Gulltown after what they describe as the destruction of their village. William attempts to get his force to accompany the peasants back to their village and help the remainder but as more peasants begin streaming up the road its Draco that forces the group to return to their horses and return to Gulltown. Before being forced to flee its William that gives one of the peasants one of his rings, and a bag of coins which is a significant amount of money. Riding back to Gulltown its William that gets into an argument with Draco but it becomes clear that Draco is under personal threat if he would have stayed and thus William forgives Draco but plans to confront his father. Returning to Gulltown, William attempts to meet with his father, but Kieth Schwartz blocks him from seeing his father. Taken by Kieth to a small courtyard in Shephard Castle the two have a long argument about duty, and responsibility with Kieth arguing that its William’s duty to accept his father as he is and stop being so angry. The two come to near blows but Kieth uses his Magi to restrain William before leaving the courtyard locking William inside. William sits for a time unable to escape the locked door and thinks on what Kieth said. His isolation ends with the arrival of Rosalie Hale who having climbed through a window got inside the courtyard with the two laughing as she falls from a high wall into his arms.

“I feel like this might be goodbye my sweetheart.” Her head was resting against my chest as I rubbed her back.

“You could choose a different path Leo.”

“You kept vengeance from my heart. You kept me happy.”

“Let me keep you that way.”

“I wish he had never come.” It was the truth. I was able to ignore the outside world until Reiner had come. Once he had returned the world couldn’t be ignored anymore.

“Then let him leave. Let him fight this himself. You stay here. You stay with me. With your children.” She held my hand to her belly, and as if on que the baby kicked at my hand.

“If I was to stay. I would not be the man you love. To stay here would be to accept everything that they are doing.” I could never live with myself if I didn’t attempt to avenge what had happened.

“Is there nothing I might say?” I wanted there to be. I wanted there to be something that would keep my here. The truth of this left me blunter than I wanted to be.

“There is not.” She pulled back crying. I pulled her back in to me. Her body fell into me as if her legs had lost their strength. “My leaving does not mean I do not love you. I love you so much sweetheart.”

“Not enough.”

“We have to go Leofrich.” Reiner appeared on his horse surrounded on either side by (other men).

“Do not leave me Leo. Please don’t leave.” She clung to my side with as tight a grip as I knew she could.

“We will see each other again. In this world. Or the next. We will see each other again.” I pulled out of her grasp and begin walking towards my horse. She grabbed at my back but as I turned, I watched Karl hold her shoulders and I gave him a weak smile in thanks.

Carlisle begs him to hide Edward’s involvement and in return he will arrange for Wuldrik and Leven to spend time together. Agreeing to this deal with Carlisle he enters the fortress and makes his way to the lift which will take him to the Eye of Lucerne. Arriving at the Eye its Wuldrik that finds Baldwin and several apprentices already investigating the area, and with Wuldrik aware already of what happened he meets with Baldwin to try and find out how much he knows. Baldwin shows himself as a less powerful Magi then Wuldrik when he tells him he hasn’t located anything yet despite Wuldrik feeling the Magi event pulling him. Wuldrik allows Baldwin to search in the wrong spot and then uses his own Magi to conceal what Edward had done, and then to give Baldwin something to report its Wuldrik that again uses his Magi. This time he uses his Magi to create a device which will point everyone into believing that the event was caused by the Dovah. Leaving the area its Wuldrik that watches as after several hours Baldwin finally goes to where he had planted the devise and then calls for his apprentice. Wuldrik joins Baldwin and the group analyzes the item, and all conclude that Wuldrik had left for them in that it was the Dovah that caused the Magi event. Wuldrik joins Baldwin and the apprentice in returning to the Spire with the item to report on what they have found. Entering the spire, they are unable to meet with Kieth as he is with the king, but they do meet with Cuthwin Mountain, and Wilhelm Kissling both of whom seem to accept their report that it was the Dovah that had caused the Magi failures. Leaving the spire its Wuldrik that goes to meet with Carlisle Cullen and finding him at his estate he can hear the yelling from within the estate the moment he gets nearby. Wuldrik is forced by Kieth to travel alongside Lothar Guntbold and a party of Circle men traveling to the town of Gleckheint, and as the group reaches the gates of the city they are met by Leven Martell. Leven reveals that she is being sent with them for she is told is to deliver a letter to Matilda Lovie, but it’s clear to Wuldrik that this is a sign from Kieth of what will happen if Wuldrik remains loyal.

    Chapter 7

    POV Character : Brooke Scott

Brooke Scott is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter she watches from the outer wall of Tree Hill with her grandfather Peter Scott, and grandmother Margarie Scott as her cousin Marius Scott arrives back at Tree Hill. Also on the wall watching this arrival is several prominent nobles in the form of Richard Lonmouth, and his son Victor Lonmouth as well as Renford Varryn and his son Renford Varryn II. While watching this Mace Tyrell, and Emric Elric arrive with several of their personal guard and while Margarie continues to watch the arrival of Marius its Peter that takes Brooke's hand and brings her to the incoming noblemen alongside the Lonmouth's and Varryns. A conversation ensues where Peter asks for their support at the upcoming Feast of Tree Hill and while Emric is quick to agree to support Peter holding his cross as he gives Peter his word, its Mace that is reluctant to swear to his support. Brooke watches as the two haggle back in forth with Brooke not knowing what is in question but as Mace appears prepared to walk away its Peter that takes the group to the wall and looking down points out Matilda Lovie. Peter is able to have Mace agree to swear his support to him in return for Peter promising to allow Mace to send a troop of Tyrell men to guard Matilda alongside the Scott men. As she prepares to go down and meet with her cousin her grandfather leaves for the keep telling her that he must make last minute preparations for the upcoming celebration Feast that is being held in Marius honor, and then leaves with Mace Tyrell. Following her grandfather leaving its Brooke that goes with her grandmother back to the keep, where Brooke plans to meet with her friends Haley James, and Peyton Sawyer. Arriving at the keep she goes to the apartment of the Sawyers in the keep and isn't surprised to find Peyton, and Haley already together but cant help but smile. Brooke and the girls spend the day together, with Peyton talking on and on about much she misses her betrothed and Brooke's sister Lucas and the other two just laughing at her as they both know that it wont be long before Lucas returns from squiring at Castle Reiter and Peyton and Lucas are married. That night its Brooke, Haley, and Peyton that go back to her family’s estate within the keep where her two friends join her in spending the night in her room. Brooke goes to her grandfather’s room to say goodnight and finding no guards she realizes he must be away. Planning to go inside his room and write a note for him before he arrives home, she opens his door using the key that he has given her. Going to his desk to get paper to write the note she stops when she sees a document with the title of report on Daniel Scott. Brooke is too nosy to ignore the document and instead of leaving as she knows she should she decides to read it. The document details an investigation done by Tilman Fischart the Ratmann of Tree Hill. Tilman had used his influence to find out information on Daniel Scott the son of Peter and Brooke’s father. This had been in response to Peter becoming concerned about his son and worrying that Daniel was a poor choice for the future of the Stormlands. During his investigation it was Tilman that had discovered that Daniel was in fact not a Christian and had converted to a Misotheism religious belief. Documents were found by Tilman in the private quarters of Daniel that detailed this philosophy, and this was confirmed unknowingly by Daniel himself when during the investigation it was Daniel that revealed his agreement with the text. The investigation also uncovered that Daniel had significant business involvement with House Nighting and this further showed the moral decay of Daniel Scott. Reading this caused Brooke to flee the room in a rush returning to her own room where she tried to sleep but the knowledge of what she had just learned about her father led to her tossing and turning all night. Having been in and out of sleep all night the chirping of the birds at her window leads to her getting up before Haley and Peyton are awake and leaving her room for her grandfather’s office. Knowing he barely sleeps she hopes to find him in his office and seeing guards at his office doors its confirmed that hes inside. The guards who she knew as the palace guardsmen Gadaric of Scott, and Theodemar of Trensdale would tell her that she had to wait to go in as he was in a meeting. Surprised that he would be meeting so early she sat on the bench across from the door. After several minutes it was the door that opened and several men exited the room including a knight she didn’t recognize, her grandfathers personal guard Fridigarn Waldenbint. As her grandfather exited the room another man followed him who she recognized as baron Ralph Guntbold, as well as a young girl that Brooke believed was Ralphs daughter Lanna Guntbold. She watched as her grandfather and Ralph shook hands in a move that surprised her because she knew Ralph to be a close friend of her father who having read the letter, she knew would put her grandfather and Daniel on two different sides of the politics of the Stormlands. As the group departs down the hallway its Peter that invites Brooke into his office, and she follows behind him sharing a brief smile with Fridigarn. Closing the door behind her its Peter that tells her that he knows she read the letter about her father. He says that the letter was moved and her coming here now tells him that it was her that looked at it. She admits to seeing the letter and the two discuss his understanding that this puts her in a bad position, but Peter convinces her that he loves Daniel but cannot allow him to become the leader of the Stormlands after he’s gone. Understanding the logic of what hes saying the two share a hug where Peter tells her he loves her, and Brooke promises her grandfather that she won’t reveal what she read. Leaving Peter’s office, she goes back to her room where she finds Peyton and Haley are reading, but they both stop when she comes back. Unable to tell even her best friends what she learned she lies to them and goes to reading with them, but her mind is wandering as she does. Haley and Peyton eventually return to their homes leaving Brooke alone. Left alone she quickly leaves her room and finding Fridigarn she tricks him into telling her where the Guntbold’s are staying in the city. Learning they are staying in secret at his personal apartments in the Sea Gate its Brooke that leaves the keep going to speak with Lanna Guntbold. Arriving at the Seagate of Tree Hill she enters the Waldenbint estate and finds Lanna in the courtyard sitting alone reading a book. The chapter ends with Brooke and her Malatine leaving Tree Hill on the order of her grandfather, but instead of following her family eastward she will be going westward to Castle Hackenholt.

    Chapter 8

    POV Character : Ezio Ederiz

Ezio Ederiz is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he stands before Sayden Ah-Salemi and is given his next mission for the Order of the Raven. Sayden Ah-Salemi discusses with Ezio how he feels that Ezio is not as enthusiastic as he once was about the order of the Raven. The way Sayden speaks lets Ezio know that any sort of truth in this moment would lead to his death. Realizing this he lies to Sayden, and thus is permitted to leave for Lucerne on his new mission. As he prepares to leave its Ezio that confronts Riol Nansladron a high-ranking assassin of whom while once a friend of his he has not seen himself the entire time that Ezio has been back at Ravenholtd. During this confrontation he discovers that Sayden has become corrupted and now serves the Dark Lord of Mordor in the form of Sauron. Coming to understand the gravity of the situation its Ezio that poisons Riol leaving him to die of a heart attack and leaving Ezio with more information but having not been discovered. Leaving he says goodbye to several of his friends there of whom are called Ezio loyalists and then leaves Ravenholdt for a ship heading towards Lucerne. On the boat he is joined by Catherine Voiriere, a young girl that he discovered during his time in France and has taken on all his missions ever since for her skill at finding people. Arriving in Lucerne he meets with James Lovie of whom is kind and soft spoken when he meets with him, but says he is very busy and will leave the specifics to his commanders. James directs Ezio to several men who are introduced to Ezio in the form of Draco Highmore, Carlisle Cullen, Alistair Bedrogen, and Kieth Schwartz. Meeting with these men he is told more of the truth of the situation and the fact that James Lovie is suffering from bouts of lucid moments and bouts of near insanity and that he was lucky to have caught him during one of the former, and thus they say that Ezio will take his orders directly from Carlisle who is the acting Archbishop of the Kingdom of Lucerne. Carlisle takes Ezio to the Spire of Lucerne where Ezio is introduced to several other Assassins brought to Lucerne by the Circle of Magi to help with the operations that they have planned. These men include a group led by Guillame Esparnon of the Order of the Fallen Phoenix, and a group led by Isabel Breban leading a group from the Society of the Lost Fox. Carlisle lists the different directions for each of these groups with Ezio being directed to the lands of House Scorpian who has been attacked by rebels to the crown. Arriving at the now ruined Scorpfield Fort they meet with the House Scorpian leadership which has arrived with a large force at the fort following it being sacked. Ezio is directed by Maron Scorpian that the attackers were seen fleeing eastward, and Ezio goes into the forest outside the fort with Catherine Voiriere and he reveals her skills when she takes out a wand. Using her Magi abilities, she can cast a spell which creates a mist which shows the path taken by the people that attacked the fort. Following the mist, they reach the water realizing the group travelled then by boat, its Ezio that returns to the Scoprians and procures a boat to be led by Heiner Prochnow. As the boat prepares to push off its Ulrich Scorpian that joins the boat against the orders of his father as he wants vengeance for the killing of his brother Dorin. Once again following the mist the boat travels eastward eventually reaching the Nunedorf River where the mist takes them northward. Forced to stop at a small fishing village its Ezio that stays on the boat. Woken in the night by the sound of screaming its Ezio that runs to the screaming alongside Heiner, and the five Scorpian men at arms. Reaching the screams, they find a bloody Catherine standing over the body of a clearly deceased Ulrich Scorpian. As she tells the group that she killed Ulrich after he tried to rape her it’s Heiner that tries to take her into custody, but Ezio refuses this. A fight breaks out which leads to Ezio killing all the men at arms and standing over a wounded Heiner he lets him go but joined by Catherine they hire several villagers to help them move the boat north. Returning to their boat with the new village crew they continue following the mist eventually finding the boat of the attackers hidden at a small, abandoned dock. The chapter ends with Ezio arriving in Nortburg where he meets with Benjamin Bradfoot and Robin Compere of whom let Ezio know that several dozen who support Ezio have also left Ravenholdt and have traveled to the Valley of Lucerne as per his request, and with this he begins planning for the defense of the tournament.

"High Mentor what is my next task for the Ravens?"

"Stand Ezio. You are far too respected to kneel before us."

    "Thank you High Mentor."

"Your next task comes from the Germans to the south. There king has apparently decided to pay us a very large amount of gold to protect his heir."

"Is there a particular threat against the young prince?"

"That I do not know Ezio. Our birds tell us the king may be mad. They tell us strange stories of him having lost his mind."

    "If I may High Mentor."

""Speak freely Ezio. You have earned that right."

"The matter I spoke to you about before my last assignment." I noticed Busara, and Remund Boix share a look before the High Mentor nodded to them and they left the room without a word to me. I had known Remund for almost ten years but the look in his eye was one of a stranger.

"I want to speak honestly with you Ezio. Can we do that?" With everyone having left the room I felt a sence of fear that was almost alien for me. I had killed untold people in my life. Walked into the scariest places and never batted an eye. The way he spoke made me feel that fear.

    "Of course High Mentor."

"What will it take for you to drop this matter?"

    "Drop it High Mentor?"

"Your asking a lot of questions. Your brothers have brought this to my attention." It shocked me that my questions had so quickly gotten back to the High Mentor.

"The Raven Order is everything to me High Mentor. I simply want to understand what happened to them."

"And if I told you an answer that painted the order in a bad light?"

"Was there anything else Ezio?" Looking into the eyes of Riol Nansladron I could tell he was beginning to panic that I hadn't left yet. He was one of the High Mentor's most loyal servants so his panic only fueled me on.

"Yes there is Riol. I need you to tell me the truth of what's going on here."

    "What's going on?"

"I'm going to tell you the same thing I tell all the men I've ever interrogated. You have one lie. Lie to me once and I will understand and accept." I pulled the knife from my side and the elderly Riol fell backwards knocking into his table and falling down to his back.

    "What are you doing."

"I already told you." I stepped towards him holding the knife to his feeble weak neck.

"I know what you are. I know what you do. You'll just kill me."

"I promise you I will let you live if you tell me the truth. Lie or withhold from me and I will torture you for days and leave you a broken body. You won't be dead. But you will wish you were dead." He pondered my words for a moment before the coward begin speaking again.

"I'll tell you. Just ask the question."

"We both know you killed my friend. Why?"

    "He saw the Dark One."

    "The Dark One?"

"We call him the dark one, but frankly I don't even know his real name. He's the messenger of Sauron the Dark Lord of Mordor."

"Why is an agent of that monster here?"

"Because Sauron is our new master Ezio. Your living in darkness."

    "You swore yourself to Sauron?"

    "Willingly."

    "Why?"

"For me it was simple. I was tired of fighting for the good side. They don't pay well." As he let out a laugh at his own words I punched him in the face before pulling him back up and sliding the knife as close to his neck as I could. Holding his hands up in a surrender pose he whispered to me. "The High Master has his own reasons." I held the knife so close to his neck that a drip of blood came from his neck smacking against the floor.

    "What are those?"

"I think he wants to be king."

    "King of what?"

    "Everything."

"How does swearing himself to a monster get him to that end?"

"You think I know. I'm just telling you what I think. You think for a moment that man is telling me anything."

"You are one of his closest confidants." He let out a laugh as I said the words.

"You've been gone a long time Ezio. He has new men. Men sent to him from Sauron loyal places like Taraban, and Umbar. We of the old number are kept to the outside now."

    "How many remain loyal?"

"Less today then yesterday. Less tomorrow then today. Loyalty to the old way is a quick way to die here."

"I called you a friend, and you allowed all of this to happen."

"Where were you Ezio when Gregor was being betrayed?"

    "Betrayed?"

"Sayden and his men killed dozens of the top echolon of the order, and then tried to kill Gregor and his son. He fought them off and escaped to Bravenholdt. Sayden had already wiped out Bravenholdt so when Gregor got there he realized the scope of what was happening."

    "And what did you do?"

"The same thing that you did. Nothing. I did nothing."

    "Why?"

"I see now that you have lied to me Ezio."

"What are you talking about? Tell me why you didn't help Gregor."

"It doesn't matter. You said that if I told the truth you would let me live. I can see in your eyes. Your justifying my death now. You have no intention of letting me live." There was no point in lying anymore. The game was over and he knew how it ended.

    "You know too much."

"Then this is how it ends."

"You have become a monster. But I am truly sorry that I lied to you."

"Promises mean everything, but after they are broken, sorry means nothing."

"Would you like a final moment."

"No. Just get it over with." With his words I pulled from my side a vial I always kept close at hand when I was on missions but here in Ravenholtd I never thought I would have need of it. This was supposed to be a place of safety for me. The one place I could lower my guard and not worry about having to poison someone. "How will you do it?"

    "Daydream Spite."

"So you will attempt to hide what you have done here."

"I must change this. Killing you is something I must do for honor's sake. Escaping is something I must do for the sake of this entire continent."

"So your betrayal of me is justified by saving the continent."

    "Yes."

"Atleast I leave this world a bigger person then the one I entered."

    "Goodbye Riol."

    "Goodbye Ezio.

"I am leaving Ravenholdt my friends."

"That sounds more permanent then just a mission Ezio."

"This place is gone. We need to leave here."

"They will hunt us down and kill us."

    "They will try."

    "They may succeed."

"Succeed or not there is no more life left for us here. We must push off on our own."

    "To what end?"

"Doing good. I don't know about you but I'm tired of being the bad guy. The things that we did in Hispania..."

"We were following orders. We don't know the full story."

"Would it change anything if we did?"

"I am very pleased to have you here Lord Ederiz. Your reputation precedes you and I know that you are the man I need to keep the prince safe."

"You have an amazing city your grace. I will be honored to protect your son. May I ask what threat you believe to be targeting your son?"

"I'm not going to lie to you..."

    "Ezio, Your Grace."

    "Your a spaniard?"

"No your grace. I do not know my mother but my father was a Vandal. My father was born in Forks though your grace."

"Did you ever meet your mother?"

"My father and mother are both a mystery. I was told by the orphanage that they died in a sickness that swept through the city."

"I am sorry to bring up terrible memories Ezio."

"No need to apologize your grace."

"You asked what the threat I saw to my son was. You asked and I told you that I wouldn't lie to you. I'm paying you to protect my son. I am not paying you to understand my decisions. Is this understood."

    "It is your grace."

"Something happened several years ago at Gulltown. As a result of this I dealt violently with those involved. My enemies blame me for this. Many of my vassals have come to also share this view. Due to this belief many have turned against me, and I believe because of this they wish to gain revenge through harming William."

    Chapter 10

POV Character : William Lovie III.

William Lovie III. is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he is sitting in the gardens outside the Skytower kissing Rosalie when the two are interrupted by the arrival of Carlisle Cullen, and Kieth Schwartz. As Carlisle walks up William thinks on his anger towards Carisle who has sent away Edward to Castle Cullen to deal with issues there. William doesn’t believe the reason and thinks Carlisle is a terrible father isolating his son from his friends as punishment for something. The two attempt to send Rosalie away but William resists this and she stays with him as they tell him about the coming Nortburg Tournament. It’s revealed that following the wedding it was William that was shuttled back to Lucerne and has been locked away inside the Tower of Clouds estate with only his friends able to visit him inside. William demands to know where Alice is and as the group is arguing about this its James that comes out of the front gate. William looks to his father and is shocked at his appearance. The last time he saw his father was the day of the incident at the Eye of Lucerne and seeing him again he looks like he’s aged twenty years. The whole group is quiet as James is helped to get over to them with the assistance of two guards under each arm. Alongside the guards he is followed by Aelfwynn Turnidlon, Fabian Klauseburg, who all have an aura of nervousness as they reach William. Carlisle attempts to have James returned to the tower, but James ignores him and tells the guards to sit him down on the bench. After sitting down, he sends everyone away except for Kieth, and William. As Rosalie goes to leave, she gives him a kiss on the cheek, and it makes William feel a sense of safety. The discussion between the three of them does not go well as James reveals several hard truths for William. The first being the fact that Alice has indeed been betrothed to Paulus Yernese and nothing William does will change this fact. The next is that he would not be accompanying them to Nortburg and that Kieth would be his guardian while he was outside of Lucerne. Williams attempts to resist the words of his father lack any real aggression as he is thrown off by how sickly his father appears and having never seen his father looking so close to death, he is unable to quickly adjust. James discusses that at the tournament there will be many girls sent to the tournament as he has made it known that he wants to decide on William’s future bridge and will decide at the tournament based on Kieth’s negotiations. James begins coughing which again puts William in a state of panic as he watches his father break down. The coughing gets bad causing the return of Aelfwynn and Fabian who joined by several guards pick him up and bring him back to the Cloud Tower leaving a shaken William behind. Following this its Kieth that stays behind and talks with William and the two show themselves to be close as despite everything happening William looks at him in a father like way. Kieth tells William to have the servants pack some things for the trip, and he does this following Kieth onto the lift of the Cloud Tower. Kieth commands two servants to accompany them up the lift to assist William and two girls quickly shuffle on to the lift in response. The two go up the lift but Kieth gets off on the fifth floor leaving William to travel further up with only two of his servants with him in the form of Adolfa and Helmgarda. Going up the next fifteen floors on the lift he looks on the two girls who keep their head bowed the entire time up the lift, and William begins to ponder who he is as a person. Thinking back to the peasants on the mountain he realizes that he has been detatched from the common man of Lucerne and decides to be better. William sparks a conversation with the two but only Adolfa pushes past her nerves to speak with William and the two share a laugh as the lift arrives at his floor. Going onto the floor they move past two guards towards his room where Adolfa follows him, while Helmgarda does the same but trails further behind. While discussing the trip to Nortburg its Adolfa that tells William that she overheard discussions to have his friends not accompany him on the trip to Nortburg and hearing this news he thanks her with a kiss and rushes to the lift. Leaving behind Helmgarda, and Adolfa to pack his things he goes back to the lift and prepares to find his friends to bring them back to the tower. Lying to the guards that he is just going to the garden he can escape the tower and get into the garden. Inside the garden he hops the wall and sneaks onto the walls where he uses a rope to climb himself down thinking how this gets easier the taller, he gets. As he reaches the bottom, he pulls the rope with him and then sees Leven sitting down across from him smiling at him. Revealing that she knew he would escape sooner or later she had come here to meet him. Pulling her into a hug he explains what has happened and attempts to take her hand and go and gather the Shadow Council, but she stops him. Telling him that she had been with Aria when guards had come and commanded that she begin packing for the trip. She had then tried to see Jasper and Rosalie but saw guards there as well revealing her attempts to find the Shadow Council had all ended in failure leaving just her not taken away. At Leven’s words he prepares to sneak her inside so that she is not sent away with the rest of his friends. Using the rope, he pulls himself back up and then helps Leven do the same. Going back to the tower he goes inside where he finds the servant clothing, he has hidden for events like this and brings them back outside. Taking them to Leven he gives them to her to change and while at first, he turns away to give her privacy he sees her reflection in a vase. Seeing her body exposed he feels the desire to turn around and touch her skin but controls himself and does not turn around. With Leven pretending to be a servant they go inside returning to the lift and go back to his floor. Arriving at the floor they find his things packed and by the entrance to the lift and no sight of Helmgarda and Adolfa. The guard on duty is Erik Fahnrich who recognized Leven but doesn’t say anything just smiles and lets the two go past him. William wakes up in the morning and finds himself and Leven cuddling in bed together and feeling her skin against him he begins touching her this time unable to control himself. Leven wakes up to this and embarrassed at first to be caught she silences him with a kiss. The kiss becomes heated with the two touching each other but as it risks going somewhere further, he stops them as he becomes ashamed of betraying Rosalie. Leven looks disappointed but smiles at him, and the two get dressed as by this point, they were both naked. Leaving Lucerne with only Leven, and his servents they travel by carriage towards Nortburg with Leven and William sharing the carriage together. During the ride they talk as they always have but things have changed between them as there is a chemistry now there that William resists due to his feelings for Rosalie. Leven does tell William briefly about her time on the road back to Lucerne and hints that she believes Wuldrik Toyne may be her real father. The chapter ends with Leven and William almost kissing again when the carriage stops bringing Erik Fahnrich to the door of the carriage. Opening the door at the word of Erik its William and Leven that exit the carriage where as they follow Erik they find to their shock Edward, Tanya, and an unknown girl blocking the road.

    Chapter 11

POV Character : Leofrich Nune III.

Leofrich Nune III. is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he and his men use the cover of darkness to move into Scorpfield Fort using the weakened northern wall. Entering the Fort, they kill several guards and then take control of the gatehouse into the barracks and living quarters leaving the remainder of the garrison still unaware of what was happening. Going into the living quarters and barracks they can overwhelm the garrison killing many but also capturing Dorin Scorpian and several other men at arms. Escaping Scorpian Fort by boat they travel back eastward towards the Nunendorf lands, and the atmosphere is one of great excitement as they got a lot of cash from the attack. Leofrich and his men are finally comfortable enough to rest inside the ruins of Heimsothist where the leadership plans for what they will do with the money now that they have turned back their pursuers for a moment. During this Heimsothist becomes the headquarters of the Devils of Nune and it’s from here that Leofrich and the command structure send off several raiding groups into the lands of House Moore to gather more supplies and cash from there. House Moore is seen as complicit to the Circle of Magi and thus is open range as is House Scorpian. To launch these attacks its Leofrich that sends off Jonas of Nune, and Luka of Nune to surrounding villages to recruit men for their forces. Alongside these recruitments its Leofrich that will travel to Sand Castle where his childhood friend Ceolfrith Sand is the heir to House Sand. Travelling down the Nunendorf River he makes his way past Highmore Keep where he is nervous about visiting due to Draco Highmore’s loyalty to James, and thus sneaks by during the night. Arriving at Sand Castle he and his men enter the port where they act as travelling mercenaries and spend the next day trying to find Ceolfrith. Eventually during the afternoon, they find Ceolfrith who recognizing his friend Leofrich welcomes them into the keep. Leaving Sand Castle on the galley given to them by the Sands and now joined by fifty men of House Sand they head back towards Heimsothist. Arriving back at Heimsothist Leofrich is told of the success of the others with Jonas, and Luka having gathered a hundred and eighty-five men. Leofrich loads the galley they have named the Sea Devil of Nune and alongside his men they travel towards the lands of House Moore now ready to assault the lands there. Following their success in raiding the lands of House Moore the group plans to rest for several days before once again going out again this time planning to move northward in their raiding. The leadership of the Nune Devils is meeting to make plans on how their attacks will be launched. As they are discussing this a man steps through an open window into the room. Gathering their weapons to themselves its Ezio that disarms them one by using his superior skill. With the rebels inside aware they stand at his mercy he offers their leaders in Leofrich Nune III. and Reiner Heimsoth offer. Ezio tells them that if they leave the Crownlands he will lie and say that he found the rebels and killed them. After agreeing to letting Leofrich and his rebels give the money to an ally of theirs so it can be properly distributed its Ezio that lets them go. The leadership goes outside the tower and while Archibald wants them to gather their men and attack Ezio its Reiner that refuses to make this betrayal. Gathering the Nune Devils they command them to pack, and the leadership lies that they were discovered and must for a time travel southward in order to protect themselves. The family members of many of the Nune Devils are also recalled for this journey and thus it takes them the entire next day to prepare their full forces to retreat southward. With everyone assembled its Leofrichm and Reiner that meet with Ezio, and Catherine in order to finally confirm that they are leaving the lands of Crownlands. The group discusses the plans of the Nune Devils with Reiner saying they will be travelling souothward to the lands of House Dedekind where he has family among their ranks. Ezio bids goodbye shaking their hand but not before telling them that he will be heading to Nortburg for the tournament there. The chapter ends with the Nune Devil fleet entering Lake Gurse and heading towards Lake Breenhave and the sanctuary promised by House Dedekind.

    POV Character : Alice Lovie

Alice Lovie is the POV character of this chapter and during this chapter she is on a boat surrounded by Mildred, and Adelhelma as the three talk revealing that since her departure to Pomeria she has become close with Mildred and Adelhelma. Its Paulus that joins them shortly after and when he does its Mildred and Adelhelma that give them space showing that she is also now close with Paulus. As the boat nears the docks of Nortburg its Alice that sees William standing on the dock alongside Leven, Aria, Dylan, and Edward and she is so desperate to see her brother that she rushes to the exit of the boat. Waiting on the edge she is all smiles as she watches the dock get closer and closer. The crew of the boat and the dockhands pass the ropes to each other pulling the boat to lock in with the dock, and as this happens its Paulus that puts his hand to her shoulder supporting her and causing her to smile at him. As the boat reaches the dock its Alice that rushes off the boat as soon as the ramp is lowered and as she reaches William the two share a hug where Alice begins crying and asks William to take her away which he does. As they walk away from the boat its Alice that looks back and smiles through the tears at Paulus who waves back at her understanding her feelings. With Williams arms around her shoulder, she is taken to the Lane Keep where they are staying, and while walking Alice thinks on how different it is to be here then it was back in Pomeria. Thinking back to Pomeria where she was the major attraction for people as the daughter of the king but back here, she is barely even looked at with everyone having their eyes on William. Thinking to this she thinks jealously but moves on from this resentful to herself for feeling this way. Reaching the keep they all go together into William’s room where they ask her questions about Pomeria. After hours of the group spending time together night comes, and the group slowly filters back to their rooms eventually leaving just Leven in the room. The chemistry between Leven and William is obvious to Alice she thinks that only her being there stops the two from getting romantic. When Leven finally leaves the two siblings are finally alone and they get honest about what they believe the next steps for them must be.

    Chapter 13

    POV Character : Edward Cullen

Edward Cullen is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he and Tanya are sitting in the keep of Castle Cullen eating dinner on the balcony alongside his stepmother Saskia, and step siblings Brandon, Amalberga, and Arnhilda Cullen. The conversation is good, but Edward’s mind is constantly wandering back to Lucerne where he is concerned for the safety of William who he mistakenly believes is under threat from the leadership of the kingdom. Edward and Tanya go for a horse ride that night and as they ride the two continue to bond, and as they reach a clearing its Edward that once again removes his ring to use Magi. Using his Magi, he creates a tiny fire for them which they then cuddle around laying down together holding hands. They do this for a time before the two-fall asleep in each other’s arms. Edward drifts into sleep and having removed his ring he enters the Fade where he finds himself covered in darkness and unable to see he begins to panic. Attempting to escape this nightmare he begins using Magi which at first creates fire which calms him down, but then he begins to see the same sort of shapes as he did back in Lucerne. As the shapes get closer to him, he is pulled from his dreaming to find himself being shaken awake by Moritz Krenkel who grabs the ring and forces it back on him. Tanya is crying and she reveals he was screaming in his sleep, and she could not wake him. Moritz tells Tanya that his abilities are a great danger to him, and says if something like that ever happens again, she needs to get the ring on him as quickly as possible. The man steps away allowing Edward to console a still crying Tanya. The two share a kiss before three Cullen men at arms come in and begin packing up their things leaving Edward, Tanya, and Moritz to walk back to the horses and begin riding back to Castle Cullen. Questioning how Moritz knew where to find them he tells them that once he took off the ring, he could feel him and rushed to his side. The three of them arrive back in Castle Cullen where Edward takes Tanya back to her room and scared for him to sleep alone, he agrees to stay with her. Going inside her room the two are shy about things but as Tanya begins undressing into her night clothes in front of him the situation becomes more heated, and they begin kissing. Getting into bed together they get under the covers and continue kissing, but not wanting to violate her its Edward that calms things down. The two continue kissing but nothing further happens as they drift to sleep. In the morning Edward wakes first leaving Tanya with a kiss, before getting himself dressed and leaving her room to find Moritz. Asking Oliver of Cullen, he is told that Moritz is at the Temple. Going to the temple he and Moritz speak about Magi with Edward apologizing for what happened. As they are talking its Saskia, and (several members of the government of Castle Cullen) who enter the temple. The group discusses a letter that has arrived from Denali Hold which details the discovery of a village east of the hold that’s come under attack from Trollocs in the forest. Edward who is the Edelherr commands word be sent to the vassals of House Cullen and for them to send soldiers to the port of Denali Hold. Edward is organizing the forces of House Cullen for this operation alongside (the government men) when Tanya comes to him having now heard of whats happening. Despite his initial desire to keep her safe at Castle Cullen she uses his attraction to her to seduce him into bringing her with them. Having left behind a garrison at Castle Cullen its Edward that leaves the castle with three ships and two hundred men heading towards Denali Hold. Arriving at Denali Hold they find the Burgraves of Winfred Intercullen, and Fredrik Crestdent have arrived before them with their own troops. Meeting with Emerich Denali they gather another fifty men from the Denali’s and begin marching towards the village of Denalist. Arriving at Denalist they find the village is empty. Searching the village, they find a pile of bodies the Trolloc have mutilated to create a sort of statue. Ordering his men to bury the bodies its Edward and a group of his knights that rally the rest of the men to begin following the tracts of the Trolloc attackers. Following them they reach the edge of Cullen Forest where they stop at as the night is coming and they do not want to enter the forest during the night. The next day the army enters the forest where they suffer several attacks from small groups of Trollocs but they are able to kill each of these groups as they make their way further into the forest. The army reaches the outskirts of the Trolloc fort and reaching it they see the Trollocs marshal for a fight. As the battle is to commence its Moritz that tells Edward to not remove the ring during the fight and getting Edward to promise him its Edward that watches as (military leader of the army) organizes the men into ranks and prepares to fight the Trolloc. There are hundreds of Trolloc, but the organization of the Cullen force defeats them causing the Trolloc to begin fleeing the battle. Pushing into the fort they kill what Trolloc remain and reaching the center of the fort they the signs of more of the villagers as they discover three women mutilated in what looks like a ceremony of sorts. Entering the back of the fort they find a cave entrance and entering the cave with the most elite of his army its Edward and this group that kills three Trolloc within and reaching the end they discover a large cavern where a larger Trolloc is chanting in a language they do not understand. The Trolloc stands in the middle of the cavern with five Trolloc standing around him. Also in the cavern are the rest of the female villagers who the Trolloc have tied to poles. The Trolloc continues chanting unaware they are there, but Moritz can sense the creature using Magi and Edward watches as Moritz removes his ring and grabbing a wand from his satchel Moritz launches a bolt at the creature. The bolt does not hit the creature when one of the regular Trolloc steps in front of the blast. Despite surviving this does wake the Trolloc from his chanting and he uses his staff to fire back at them. The other Trolloc in the room charge them and the knights fight against them while Edward watches as Moritz and the creature battle with magi. The fight rages with the creature and Moritz locked in battle but as the other Trolloc fall the knights begin firing arrows at the creature hitting it in the shoulder. The creature becomes enraged by this and launches a massive bolt at Moritz who crumbles to dust as it hits him. Seeing his mentor die he pulls off the ring and picking up Moritz’s wand he launches three blasts as the creature who is hit and falls to the ground. With the creature knocked down one of the knights pushes forward and stabs the creature killing it. Putting his ring back on before any of the knights can see that it was him, he falls to his knees and looks at the dust that was once his mentor. Edward begins hysterically crying as he tries to pick up the dust but is stopped by Alwin of Cullen. Alwin takes him by the shoulder and leads him out of the cave and back into the fort as he enters a near catatonic state from what just happened. Alwin stops him before they go outside and slaps him in the face telling him the men cannot see him like this. Despite being broken by the death of Moritz its Edward that pulls himself together and walks outside with the men. Leaving the fort, he leads the men back to the village saying nothing the way back as it takes everything in him to not cry as he thinks on Moritz. Arriving back at Denali Hold he is met by Tanya at the gates, and she can see his look and quickly rushes him through the crowds of cheering peasants and nobles and inside the keep. Inside the keep she takes him into a side room where he breaks down crying into her shoulder. The chapter ends with Edward, Tanya, and Domera leaving on horseback Krenkel Hold on the way southward to Nortburg where they know William will be heading.

    Chapter 15

    Wuldrik Toyne

    Chapter Details

Wuldrik Toyne is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he is watching the final round of the Tournament of Nortburg when he watches Leven enter the grounds accompanied by the prince and watching his daughter, he wants to go to her but is stopped by Er-Khadgar who reminds him that their path is too dangerous to involve her in. Despite the words of Khadgar when he leaves its Wuldrik that approaches Leven who is sitting alone in the royal family booth while William has gone to the bathroom and upon seeing him its Leven that smiles and the two have a nice conversation which only ends with the return of William. Preparing to leave he is stopped by William who invites him to sit with them and agreeing to this he sits with Leven and William for the final rounds of the Horseshoes event and has fun spending time with both. Wuldrik leaves Nortburg saying goodbye to Leven before he does and gives her a necklace that he tells her will protect her from dark spirits (he had crafted the necklace with his Magi giving it very strong Magi defensive properties), and leaving the town with Kieth Schwartz, and a group of Circle troops and Magi they go the outskirts of Nortburg where Kieth is meeting with Emerich Heldven. Meeting with Emerich its Wuldrik that watches as Kieth gives him authorization as well as funds to finance violence against House Oakheart, and after the meeting Wuldrik attempts to understand what the purpose of this was for, but Kieth refuses to answer instead sending Wuldrik to Brill to meet with the Jestife's. Wuldrik reluctantly leaves Nortburg alongside the two new apprentices that he has been assigned and begins heading towards the ruins of Bedroogen where he is to locate another apprentice before eventually heading to Brill. They leave Nortburg by horse riding with just his two men at arms and his two apprentices with Selina taking her usual spot at his side. Arriving at Bedroogen its Wuldrik that thinks back on the town before the destruction of the Purge. The gates have still not been repaired and the tower that was struck by siege weapons during the attack remains broken. Entering the town, they are stopped by what Wuldrik clearly sees are knights of the Pure Crown. After showing him the Circle of Magi pass that he had they allowed him to pass without paying a toll and as they moved through the streets the poverty of the town was impossible to miss. Riding through the town he can see the look on Selina and distracts her by telling her about the men at the gates in the form of the Knights of the Pure Crown. Telling her how they were a prominent criminal gang that operated throughout the Crownlands he tells her how they now serve House Nighting following the king ordering the Nightings to bring them to heel. Arriving at the Bedroogen Keep he is again shocked to find it still in ruins. The drawbridge that led into the citadel has never been repaired and the moat is filled with garbage. Entering the citadel, they meet with Circle member Steffon Bedrisch and his three apprentices alongside Hochmeister Theoderic Braughmen, and Ordenmarshal Harrold Ottospeck. Meeting with them its Wuldrik that wants to know why the city is in such horrible conditions and Steffon tells him that they are suffering near constant attacks from bandits, but Wuldrik doesn’t believe him. After the meeting they are taken by Edith Lichter to the dungeon where the apprentice for Wuldrik is being kept. Once they enter the dungeon and get past the Pure Crown knights its Edith Lichter that breaks down and attempts to get Wuldrik to save her by taking her back to her family at Lichterstein. At first Wuldrik rejects her for fear of inciting Steffon, and she gives him the key before running away. As he walks the final steps towards the cell of his coming apprentice its Selina that scolds him over not helping the girl, and to his surprise even Lennart steps to him asking him to help her. As he thinks on this, they reach the cell and find a woman inside a cell which appears to be in terrible condition as she is covered in dirt, and they see a rat dead in the corner. Leaving Bedroogen heading towards a clearing so that he can cast his spell to take them to Brill. As they ride the group is silent as they are all either broken up by leaving behind Edith or sleeping as was the case for Lisbeth. As they reach the clearing its Wuldrik that has a vision of Leven and seeing his daughter she tells him that leaving behind Edith isn’t right and convinced by this vision he tells the group they will infiltrate Bedroogen during the night and get Edith back. Moving into the town during the night they can infiltrate it without difficulty as once again the ruined state of the castle has left the defenses. Entering the keep its Wuldrik that uses Magi to knock out the guard of the side entrance and then they enter. Moving up the stairs they reach the room of Edith. Using Magi they communicate with her through the door, and she quickly comes outside to them. As she packs her things its Wuldrik that sees bruises on her face. Revealing to them that they came after she told Steffon Bedrisch about her attempt to go with Wuldrik. She begins crying as she reveals this and before Wuldrik can comfort her it’s Lennart that comes to her side hugging her and telling her its okay. Selina and Edith take over packing and once done they begin sneaking back out of the keep. Reaching the door out they find knocked out guard is gone, and then realize what happened when the guard is standing in the street alongside Steffon, and his remaining two apprentice. The two groups get into an argument, and an alarm bell is set off by one of Steffon’s men at arms. As reinforcements are about to arrive the fight is avoided when Lennart summons a dazing spell which he is forced to continue focusing but this allows the rest of them to escape the keep. Leaving behind Lennart its Wuldrik that carries an injured Selina from the keep and the four of them reach the outskirts where they get on their horses and make there way towards the clearing and the spell that will take them from this place. As Wuldrik is casting the spell taking them to the Tower of Brelloht, its Selina that wakes up from being knocked out and demanding to know where her brother is she is calmed down by Edith, and Lisbeth. Wuldrik completes the spell, and the portal opens leaving Wuldrik to command them to enter the portal. As Lisbeth and Edith go through the portal its Selina that refuses to go. Wuldrik succeeds in convince her to go through the gate by arguing that its what Lennart would have wanted, and despite it breaking her heart she goes through the portal followed behind by Wuldrik. The chapter ends with the group arriving at the port of Lichterstein where they say goodbye to Edith as the group leaves to return and try and get Lennart back.

    Chapter 18

    Leofrich Nune III.

    Chapter Details

Leofrich Nune III. is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter he Leofrich and his men landing their boat at the dock of Castle Dedekind where they are met on the docks by Lord Jamie Dedekind, and his son Dagobert Dedekind II. who welcome him and his men to the castle. Leofrich and his men are put to good use by Jamie Dedekind as they work towards there goal of building there strength up and returning to Nunendorf at the head of a larger wealthier force. After several months of dealing with bandits that have risen in the area west of the Dedekinds land in Skane. Working alongside Lord Edgar Hasselvander they had destroyed two large bandit’s forts in the lands of House Hasselvander and recruiting many of these bandits into the ranks of the Nune had greatly strengthened his forces. Most prominent of the recruitments made during this campaign is Hanzal of Hasselvander of whom Leofrich has taken on as a son of sorts. Returning to Castle Dedekind after several months in Skane they find the castle is abuzz with movement. Meeting with Burgomaster Brandon Welechk they find out that Landsgrave Jamie Dedekind has travelled to Castle Scheck to assist there as the forces of the Gleckourds have assaulted into Scheck lands. Leaving Reimer to continue leading the main Nune forces its Leofrich that travels to Castle Scheck with Hanzal and a force of a hundred Nune men to assist Jamie Dedekind. Arriving at Castle Dedekind they are unable to enter the castle at first as they are not known men and its only when Simon Dedekind reveals them as loyalists that the tension is lifted. Following meeting with the leadership of House Scheck and House Dedekind its Leofrich and his forces that travel southeast to the fort of Scheckburg. Arriving at Scheckburg Fort they discover the fort has already fallen to the forces of the Gleckourd’s and as they attempt to pull back, they are set upon by horsemen. Fighting a skirmish against the cavalry they are defeated and Leofrich flees into the forest accompanied by only four of his men and Hanzal who has taken a bad wound from a spear. The group is forced to move through the forest but has to stop almost continuesly as the cavalry of the Gleckourds continues harassing them. As night comes its Hanzal that succumbs to his wounds and Leofrich is forced to leave him while he and his remaining men of whom are now nearly twenty as they have collected men throughout the day make there way north towards Flechk Hold. Travelling through the night they reach Flechk Hold in the morning but find the hold already under siege and are forced to move westward away from the fighting. Moving westward they arrive at a small Scheck village and realizing that an attack is coming sooner of later they evacuate the village and continue moving westward to Blechk Hold. Arriving at Blechk Hold the Nune forces and the villagers enter the holdfast where they meet with Burgrave Tristan Blechk of whom tells them that unless they are here to fight, they should head northward as his scouts have already seen Gleckourd men on the horizon. Leofrich and his men remain at Blechk Hold as they want revenge and gaining horses for themselves, they move south into the forest. In this move they are joined by some of the villagers and men at arms from the holdfast they prepare to ambush the Gleckourd forces once they arrive. Following their defeat of the Gleckourd forces they continue southward towards the Gleckourd fort of Eglisheint Fort where the captured man had indicated a general was located. Arriving at Eglisheint Fort they wait till nightfall with the plan of capturing the general and bringing him to justice. Entering the room of the general they find him sitting at a table with several of what they assume are his commanders and only the general’s son being held by Leofrich’s men keep the general from attacking them. The general taunts them that the government of the Crownlands has given them assistance and realizing that what they did to Nunendorf they now appear to be trying to do in Forks causes Leofrich to demand more information. The general who won’t risk his son being killed reveals the extent of the deals made against the people of Forks by the Crownlands, and during this dump of information reveals that they plan on assassinating Alice Lovie to bring more loyalists to their side when they blame this killing on the Swans. Arriving at Castle Hosidius its Leofrich that sends in two villagers who say they have friends in the castle. Waiting outside for some time its Leofrich that discusses with several of his knights how much this changes everything for him. He had always believed in his heart that the move against Nunendorf was a move orchestrated by powerful nobles in the capital. If the crown itself was now involved, then just retaking control of Nunendorf would never change things. If this was true, then they had to take actual action against the crown itself. The villagers return bringing with them a citizen of Castle Hosidius and he reveals that the princess is in the capital and was brought in by Paulus Yernese and a force of Yernese men. Infiltrating the castle, they first go to Paulus Yernese of whom is staying outside the keep and thus is the easiest to get to. Finding him on the bottom floor of the apartment he was staying in hes with several of his knights and a few men at arms and thus when they enter a fight almost breaks out. The confrontation between the two groups ends when Leofrich tells him about the true plan which is to kill Alice and with Paulus believing she would survive the plot he decides to assist them. Paulus demands that one of his knights in the form of Canus Ordius and several men at arms accompany the Nune Devils to make sure that Alice has someone nearby that she knows, and then the two group follows Canus as he leads them towards the keep. The Nune Devils remain outside the keep while Canus and one of the men at arms goes into the keep gathering Alice. Waiting outside the keep they can now tell how much of a military buildup is happening in the castle with lines of supplies and weapons stacked all around the inside of the keeps outer courtyard. Canus returns and Leofrich sees Alice is with him, and they begin moving towards the gatehouse. The chapter ends with Leofrich and the group exiting Castle Hosidius where they see more of his men waiting with horses, but also see Paulus waiting with the horses.

What do you want to know. I will tell you what you want. Do not hurt him.

You said you were the kings man.”

    Yes.”

The king has sanctioned what you men are doing?”

They sent us boats full of gold. They set up the meetings. Yes, they sanctioned this.”

    To what end?”

We take control. We aren’t aligned to the Swans.”

So, it’s just more of the fight against the Swans.”

You would have to ask them their motivations.”

    There anything else?

We attack the Swan loyalists. It weakens them. What more is there?” As he spoke, I nodded at Redrick to place the dagger closer to Astric’s neck. “Stop!

Then tell me what else they want of you. It isn’t this simple.”

Fine. I tell you the last of it, and you let Astric go?”

You tell me the rest of it. I will leave. Astric will not be harmed.”

Fine. We are to make a trip to Castle Hosidius during our next stage of attacks.”

    Why Castle Hosidius?

The princess is there. We are to take her out.

    Is she kidnapped?

No. We are to kill her.

Are you Paulus Yernese?” He was a tiny man. Clad in armor that seemed built for the man his father had hoped he would become.

I am. Who is asking good sir?” He moved closer to his knight, and his hand moved towards his scabbard. Good. At least the boy had some sense in his head.

You may not know me Paulus. I am Leofrich Nune the third of his name. I was once of Nunendorf.”

I know of what occurred at Nunendorf. Traitors were you not?”

“Think of me what you will. In time all truth comes out. What I am here to tell you is that you are a single choice away from becoming a monster.” The big knight stepped forward.

“Careful how you speak to my lord, sir.”

“I do not mean to insult him.” I held my hands up. Paulus put his hand on the knight’s shoulder and the man stepped back into line.

“Speak what you have come to say.” Paulus was nervous. A boy this young. He may have never been in a confrontation like this before. Surrounded by armed men. Inside safe walls. He didn’t know conflict.

“You have brought the princess Alice Lovie to Castle Hosidius. Are you aware of what the outcome of her coming here is to be?” Now was my time to put my hand to my swords pommel. His men and him clearly noticed as the big knight pulled his sword from his scabbard and aimed it in my direction.

“What of the princess have you heard Leofrich?” His voice was shaking. The look of shame crossed his eyes as she spoke.

“What I hear does make me think good things about you Paulus.”

“What is your interest in the princess?”

“Same as what yours should be. I wish to keep her safe.”

    “As do I.”

“Then explain why you brought her here to die.”

    POV Character : Alice Lovie

Alice Lovie is the POV character of this chapter and during this chapter she is sitting in her lodgings in Castle Hosidius alongside Eddara, and Adala when a knock on the door interrupts them. Adala answers the door revealing Canus Ordius who rushes in moving directly to Alice. Rushing her to pack her things and prepare to leave its Alice and the girls that demand to know whats going on but Canus says there is no time, and he will explain it once she is safe. Packing quickly, they follow Canus who is himself led by two of his knights as they make their way through the hallways of the castle towards the exit. Reaching the gateway out of the keep they are stopped by a knight and two men at arms of House Hosidius and a confrontation breaks out which leads to a near fight, but a man steps between the two groups and tells them that Paulus, and Atilia Hosidius are waiting for the princess. The Hosidius knight appears frightened of angering Atilia and so lets the groups pass by when Alice vouches for their story. Leaving through the gate she sees a large group of horses and Paulus waiting, and she wants to run to him, but instead remains calm and walks alongside the men. Once they are at the horses none of the men waiting there say anything just telling the girls to get on the horses, and when Paulus whispers for her to do the same she is too scared to do anything but comply. As the other girls get on their horses its Paulus that puts Alice on her horse. As he does this he finally speaks, and he tells her he loves her and that he’s sorry, and before she can say anything he smacks the horse causing it to begin riding with the rest of the group. She turns and watches as Paulus moves back towards the fighting at the gatehouse, and tears fall from her eyes as she regrets not saying she loved him. Getting away from Castle Hosidius she speeds her horse to ride alongside Canus who is talking with the man that defused the argument earlier. Finally finding her courage she commands the men to tell her what is going on, and instead of Canus it’s the man who introduces himself as Leofrich Nune III. that tells her the truth of the whole thing. Shocked that Paulus may have betrayed her she loses her confidence and begins crying leading to her falling back in the group riding beside Adala and Eddara who try to calm her down. As they continue riding its Leofrich that falls back to ride beside her and the two speak for a time. Leofrich tells her about knowing her father, and mother and tells Alice a story of travelling to the capital when word had come in that the king had returned alive from France. He had arrived ahead of the king, and he was in the giant crowd of people that waited in Lower Lucerne for his arrival. When James and the survivors arrived, he remembers crying at the sight of the army. He had felt such hope to see the king again. He remembered the king walking up to him, and like he did to dozens of men that day he hugged him and comforted him over the death of his brother at Lyons. The groups arrival at Castle Clune is met by Landsgrave Luthor Clune as well as Dantmann Friedhelm, and Hochmeister Baldwin. In behind these men Alice also notices several younger girls and one of them who has the cloak of Luthor Clune smiles at her and Alice smiles back. For the first time since they left Hosidius its Leofrich that reveals the truth of what happened there, and a shocked to finally hear it said outloud its Alice that begins crying which is noticed by everyone. Feeling weak for having cried in front of everyone its Alice that attempts to steel herself throughout the rest of conversation, but her outburst is not ignored and Luthor commands his daughter and several of her handmaids to lead Alice, Adala, and Eddara inside Castle Clune to where they will be staying during their time at Castle Clune. Alice is followed inside by Canus and several of the Clune men at arms and despite being given a friendly meeting its Alice that cannot trust these men and sticks close to Canus who is the only person she still trusts outside of her handmaids. The chapter ends with Alice arriving at Nortburg whereas the boat pulls into the dock she feels herself calm down for the first in months as she sees Catherine waiting for her.

I wish we had more time. I wish I could explain all this. Please just know that I love you, and that I am truly sorry.” I reached for him, but he pulled away and smacked the horse. In response to this slap the horse begin riding with the rest of the group away from the gate. I tried to look back and catch a glimpse of him. I wanted to scream that I loved him too. Wanted to turn the horse around and jump into his arms. Instead, I watched as he moved towards the gatehouse. His form growing smaller and smaller with each passing second.

Peyton returns minutes later and tells Brooke that the letter was placed in Oliver’s office, and with the meeting still ongoing its Brooke that has Peyton distract Theodora while she and Haley go to Oliver’s office with the idea of breaking inside. Leofrich and Lorent leave when Luthor is forced away by the arrival of his Dantmann Fulcanius Auxentius. The two are saying their goodbyes, but as Leofrich goes to leave its Lorent that stops him. Walking with him once more its Lorent that tells Leofrich that he needs his help, and then reveals that if Leofrich helps him then he will take him to see a man that knows about the destruction of Nunendorf. Leofrich tells him he needs to speak to his men before he can commit to this, and so goes to speak with his men. Speaking with the men they all agree that they want to learn the truth of Nunendorf and thus agree to go back to Dedekind and gather the full Nune forces and then assist Lorent. Returning to Lorent they seal their deal and Lorent leaves to prepare a boat for his men as well as Leofrich and his men to travel westward to Dedekind. Arriving back at Dedekind they meet with Reiner and the other commanders and going inside the baracks they have made for themselves at Dedekind its Leofrich that tells them what happened to him. After revealing the offer by Lorent who was waiting at the boat its Reiner that agrees quickly wanting to know what truth they can. Gathering the men, they now travel on two boats southward where Lorent wants them to go to the port of Castle Melfinger where they can then travel to Klopferia where Lorent’s lover is. Arriving in the waters outside of Castle Melfinger they are unable to reach the area due to what is a clear blockade of the port, and as they are approached by several warships they prepare for battle. Being outnumbered they do not immediately fire on the other ship instead they move side to side with it and Leofrich speaks with the captain of the other ship who reveals himself as Edgar Jolpfer II. and tells Leofrich that he and his ships need to leave the area as Melfinger is in rebellion and thus the entire bay is now closed. The arrival of another ship as the two ships are talking leads Leofrich to agree to leave the area, and after Edgar reveals they are planning a major attack the next day the two groups leave with Leofrich and Lorents ships moving northward. Returning the next day during the night they travel without lights and make their way towards the River Klopfer. Arriving at the Inlet they make their way down moving now with lights as they have passed the blockade. Most of the Nune Devils remain with the ship but with fifty horses aboard the two boats they double ride most of the horses leaving a force of nearly 75 to travel south towards Klopferia. Arriving at the outskirts of Klopferia they are shocked at the size of the city, and its Lorent that tells him all about the changes brought about in the city by the rise of the Guild of Klopfer. Waiting till morning the group enters the city in several waves as to not create too much suspicion. Leofrich and his men rent out rooms at the local tavern which they pay for with coins given to them by Lorent and then wait for Lorent to give them the signal to help him as he leaves them and goes to find out where his lover is being held. That night while the group spends the night just having a simple night together its Leofrich that cannot find Reiner or Theodrik but assumes they just went to bed early and doesn’t investigate it any further. Hours after Lorent has left its Leofrich that begins to worry about it and as he goes outside with Markus, and Edrik he sees lines of men armed outside. Leofrich speaks with the leader of the men waiting for them outside who reveals himself as Alberich Klopfer the Baron of the land. After a long conversation between the two its Alberich that prepares to kill the Nune Devils when Reiner, Theodrik, and Marcel arrive holding the sons of Alberich as hostages alongside his wife. This situation leads to Alberich agreeing to let them leave with horses in return for his children and wife being given back to him safely. Before leaving with the horses its Leofrich that forces Alberich to make a Vow of Odahviing giving Leofrich and his men a twenty-four-hour head start in moving northward. Having made the deal to escape its Leofrich that leads his men and the horses they have gained outside the walls and then begin the hard march back to the boats. They gather back their own horses and continue on the road moving as fast they can as they all know that the Klopfer forces are going to be chasing after them as soon as the twenty-four hours is over. While riding back its Leofrich that takes each stop they make to speak with Lorent, and Runhilda who are being attacked constantly by the other Nune Devils angry over Lorent’s betrayal. Leofrich puts an end to this telling them that while Lorent and Klopferia are with them they are under his protection. The chapter ends with Leofrich and his men arriving on the outskirts of Melfingerhit and looking over at Reiner the two smile as they prepare to attack the unsuspecting Klopfer forces.

Also, among this group going to the meeting are Aelfwynn Turnidlon, Tanya Denali, and Ar-Brentey Hemsworth. Arriving at the docks they find several women waiting for them. Aranna Jovinsson steps forward and thanks William for coming and then goes into the deal that she wants to make. She offers to help William in his campaign against the Order of the Voiceless Angel and in return they ask that William requests two things. Firstly, they want William to authorize the founding of a Guild for them which has been rejected up and till now because of its Magi origins. Secondly, they request that House Reinmann make House Gollwitzer an Ealdorman so that the guild would be further protected. William agrees to these demands and following this the girls swear an oath of loyalty to William and say that in the morning they will be at Krebville with a boat to join his forces in their final journey to Turnidlon. Edward, and Tanya leave the Shadow Council and join the boat of Aranna as the fleet leaves Krebville and while sad to not be with the Shadow Council he does look at this an opportunity as William told him to eventually lead a Magi guild that the two want to create once he is king. While on the boat towards Rosler Castle he is introduced to the other Magi aboard the boat in the form of Laisa, and Elissa Klorinsson, Cercilia Borisson, and Frida Scheid.

Raising his hands to show he is surrendering he is restrained by the guards who bring him into the keep taking his wand form him as they don’t know he uses his sword for his Magi. Entering the keep he is brought before Steffon Bedrisch. The two argue for a time but eventually Steffon agrees to have Wuldrik shown Lennart who is brought up to the keep. Lennart appears to have been badly tortured and seeing this Wuldrik and Steffon almost comes to blows but Lennart stops him. Lennart convinces him that he wants to stay with Steffon as this is the only way that Steffon won’t try to cause problems for his sister and the others. Lennart has agreed to a one-year punishment for what happened, and then Steffon will release him. Unable to sway Lennart or Steffon its Wuldrik that is forced to leave, although he is given a letter written by Lennart for his sister. Wuldrik returns to the group and tells them what happened and giving the letter to Selina they watch as she goes from demanding to go in and rescue him to instead changing to a resignation of the situation. The group summons another portal taking them to Brill, and they all walk sadly into it looking back at Bedroogen and their friend Lennart. Arriving at the Tower of Brelloht north of Brill they meet with (Find guy) and after talking for a time he agrees to take them to Witold Jestife. Arriving at the portal they meet with Helferich Banestourd III., and Grimwald Estourd of whom are introduced by several heavily armored men as Floor Masters of the Guild of Bheltuhl. Meeting with them they are taking inside where they are kept on the first floor and told to wait while they bring Rochelle of Bheltuhl the Tower Master to meet with them. Rochelle tells them that she will allow them access to the book that Witold wants but first Wuldrik and his group must accompany Grimwald, and another Floor Master named Adolfa of Ashtourd to Clarahas Fort. With no other choice its Wuldrik that leads his group alongside Adolfa, and Grimwald who also accompanied by several apprentice known as Journeymen. On the road the group meets up with a cavalry force of House Gleckourd who are heading to Clarahas Fort for the siege there, and they join with this force for the rest of the way. Following the capture of Clarahas Fort its Wuldrik that leaves the fort without saying goodbye to Adolfa but he and Selina go to speak with Grimwald. Speaking with Grimwald they confront him as to whether he knew how violent the spell was going to be and he admits that yes, he was aware. Leaving him following this the group heads back to the Tower of Bheltuhl. Following gathering the tome from Rochelle they are quickly shuttled to the portal room where without any further conversation they are sent back through towards the Tower of Brelloht. Meeting with Witold once more its Wuldrik that hands over the tome to him. As he hands the tome, he gets a look at Witold’s face and notices the scars across his face with fresh blood coming from them, and he recoils at seeing it. Witold laughs at this and removes his hood revealing the true scope of the damage. Witold’s face is covered with near open wounds, and even though he has been speaking and laughing its Witold who has stitched his mouth together. Horrified at seeing the truth of what Witold has become its Selina that lets out a scream, and Wuldrik turns towards her finding her being held up by Lisbeth. Witold begins laughing in his regular booming laugh and turning back to him Wuldrik watches as the sounds appear seemingly from nowhere. Witold has Lisbeth and Selina taken from the room and with only Wuldrik left he begins to tell him where he is to go next. Wuldrik is told by Witold that since he did what was asked, he is going to help him get assigned to the Lucernian Academy as the second enchanter of the Tower of Lucernt. Once there he will assist the deacon Alram Grontovie II. who is an ally of Witold, and in return for his loyalty he will be able to be close to Leven who Witold reveals he knows is his daughter. Wuldrik agrees to this and leaves Wiotold behind who has already moved on and is reading the tome that Wuldrik delivered. Gathering both Selina and Lisbeth its Wuldrik that takes the portal and returns to Lucerne now accessing the Tower of Lucernt. Following his work at the Tower of Lucernt its Wuldrik that leaves Lucerne with his apprentices and using his Magi the group travels to the Grove of Sunspear with the plan of meeting with his daughter Leven and then taking her to Turnendorf. The chapter ends with Wuldrik holding Leven’s hand as they walk through the portal taking them to the Tower of Tuhrendlor.

    Chapter 52

    Edward Cullen

    Chapter Details

Edward Cullen is the POV Character of this chapter and during this chapter with the city of Hogwarts in chaos following the Tri-wizard tournament its Hilary, and Edward that can get out of the city without being stopped making their way out of Hogwarts. They made their way to Fudsatan where the Kirin Tor contingent had retreated to following the destruction of the Portal Network of Hogwarts. Arriving at Fadustan they found the city was crowded as thousands were fleeing into the city from the area trying to escape the roving bands of Death Eaters recruiting and terrorizing the landscape. The Kirin Tor contingent was outside the city in a small camp where they were working to summon the Magical portal that would take them back to Kirin Tor and entering their camp it was Cerin Menathil that greeted them. Cerin agreed that she would take them with her back to Kirin Tor to assist them in returning home, and with this Hilary and Edward went about helping them summon the portal. As they finished summoning the portal it was the Death Eater Cyprus Nightshade that arrived with a group of soldiers from House Nightshade. Cyprus offered the Kirin Tor great treasure and reward if they assisted the Deatheaters in fighting with them in the now expanding civil war. It was Medivh Flowers that would reject this offer sending Cyprus and his soldiers away, and when Cerin asked him why he rejected the offer it was Medivh that told her that you never made deals with demons. The portal was eventually completed, and the group all went through the portal returning to Kirin Tor. Arriving at Kirin Tor the two were amazed at the scope of the city, and despite wanting to stay in Kirin Tor and see what the fortress had to offer they both knew they needed to go home, and thus said goodbye to Cerin and left for Lucerne. Using their Magi abilities, they would fly towards Lucerne using a Kirin Tor flying wagon travelling from Kirin Tor towards Lucerne.  Flying through the day and night the pair would sleep in the wagon as they travelled with wagon travelling automatically to the marker the pair had made north of Brill. Most of the trip the pair is silent as Hilary is deep in reading while Edward is overcome with the trauma of what happened to him in the graveyard. Edward and Hilary stop in Brill first where they meet with Hilary's family of whom have not seen her for many months, and Edward watches as the Swift family is overjoyed to see them. Spending several weeks in Brill its Edward that wants badly to return home but knows that Hilary needs this time with her family and thus doesn’t rush her. During this time its Edward that gets to know Hilary’s sister Taylor Swift of whom has many questions about William, and Edward believing that Taylor is just crushing on the prince tells Taylor things about William which allow Taylor to form an even more close connection with William within the Fade. After two weeks at Brill, they leave Hilary’s family in a tearful goodbye and make their way once more by the wagon to the city of Gulltown where Hilary’s father has arranged for them to travel to Lucerne with House Shephard. The two arrive in Gulltown where they are greeted by several members of House Shephard of whom will be accompanying Edward and Hilary to Lucerne where a member of their family will be going to the school. Moving northward travelling by boat down the Kilgor River, and then moving to the Great Royce River it was the group that made quick movement towards Nortbug where they would then travel by carriage to Lucerne. Edward, Hilary and Claire Shephard arrive at Nortburg and while Claire is greeted by several members of House Shephard and friends at the gates no one is waiting for Edward outside the gates which shocks him and brings about the first pangs of fear about his position returning to Lucerne. Saying goodbye to Claire it is Edward and Hilary that make their way now from Nortburg to Lucerne and arriving at the city they are met by a large shanty town located just off the road. Shocked at so many people homeless Edward is made even more confused when inside the city through the massive tunnel of Lucerne and moving inside the city he can't help but notice it appears more worn down then when he left, and the number of homeless people have gone up immeasurably from when he had left. Traveling to the Lucerne Hold he is once again shocked when he sees the Gate to Lucerne Hold has turned into a fortress and going to the guard there, he is unable to get inside Lucerne Hold as he doesn't have papers proving his residency but is able to convince a guard who he is and the guard leaves to get his father. Sitting together on the ground across from the Lucerne Hold gatehouse Hilary tries to console Edward of whom is coming to quickly understand that things had changed for him, and after an hour his father arrives with several men at arms and Floronius Sentius of whom Edward remembers fondly as a man that raised him far more then Carlisle ever did. Carlisle, and Floronius can get Edward and Hilary through the gate and take them back to the Cullen Estate as despite Edward wanting to see his friends its Carlisle his father who tells them that won't be possible tonight. Arriving home he finds Blake Cullen his twin sister waiting for him, and while at first she appears kind and gentle once Hilary is taken to her room to go to sleep Blake takes Edward outside to the gardens and slaps him the face before the two argue as it is clear that she has a lot of bitterness towards him, and as their argument continues she begins lashing out describing all the cruel feelings of his former best friends and eventually overcome with sadness over what his sister says to him he retreats to his room where he hides himself under the bed. Hiding there he begins crying while realizing that his entire life may have fallen apart and makes a wish for the night that things will get better for him tomorrow. The next morning Edward gets up before his sister can say anything to him and accompanied by Floronius and another man at arm of House Cullen. Edward is alarmed by this, but Floronius tells him that he cannot go out alone right now with the recent riots in Lucerne Proper. The group makes their way towards the Cloud Tower where he is excited but also very nervous to meet his friends again. While walking he and Floronius discuss the riots with Edward learning the situation is as dire as it looked when he entered the city yesterday but when Florononius is pressed on what has caused all this change he gets silent, and Edward doesn't push him. Arriving at the entrance to the Sky Towers Edward once again sees signs of the times as the once lightly guarded walls of the Sky Towers have doubled in height and the number of guards is remarkable. Going to the gate guard he suddenly realizes he is going to struggle to get in without anyone remembering him, but this fear is misplaced when he is recognized by Draco Highmore and brought inside the gates. Edward doesn't have any time to prepare as he finds William, Jasper, Leven, Dylan, and Emmett playing Dopelkaf a card game. The chapter ends with Edward swimming out of the water, and looking for Hostella and Byron he doesn't find either which confuses him but he assumes they went to go and get a drink or food and he sits down and picks up the book that Hostella was reading. His reading is interupted by William and the Shadow council arriving with Byron among them and seeing Byron without
